1. Very cool. And I love the black headstock.
2.
Thanks it looks and sounds sublime.
Thanks, man!! Get your order in!
3. I just shared this a few days ago in the Wal thread but I'm happy to share it here too. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:248401] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:248403] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:248402]
4. Thanks!! I love this bass. I've had it for nearly a year and I'm still discovering new things. It seems to be impossible to get a bad or unusable sound from it. The electronics are fantastic. Edited to add that I waited almost exactly 20 months. Not too bad! It precisely matched Paul's time estimate. Ask and you shall receive; here are a couple of tunes I've done with it: https://youtu.be/9RsAnhr3vsI https://youtu.be/t731zTXyHvo
5.
@Highfox nothing boring about this *not mine*
Haha!! Thanks for showing that, Kulit! The fact is that I have intended to take better pictures of it before sharing it here, but that just hasn't happened since I've been too busy playing it. Thanks for keeping me honest! So without further delay, here we go... 6. Lucky man! Seeing works-in-progress makes me very antsy for my Mk I. I keep hoping to catch a glimpse in the background.
7. I shouldn't have sold my first bass, a Hondo copy of a Gibson Explorer, bought through Friend A who got me into both bass and guitar. I think I was 18 when I sold it to Friend B, who promptly butchered the body in attempting to make it into a Steinberger! Ruined beyond recognition. Within another year or so, Friend A (who I got it from) passed away at the tender age of 22 and then I really started to miss that bass.
8.

I was thinking precisely the same thing. That's one of my favorite movies!
9. Lovely basses. What sort of tones does the bridge pickup produce on the Elite? I've always been curious but have never tried one with that pickup arrangement.
10. You have lovely, lovely bass! What a calming shade of blue.
11. I never knew there were '59 P's with matching headstocks! These videos are great fun. But I also wonder why he never even mentions Wal anymore. His Wal tone is the pinnacle for me as well, and at the time (as a teenager) I had no idea what he was playing but knew that it sounded bloody awesome.
12. That's an incredible-looking bass! Very nice!! I must remember that mine will arrive some day. I am puzzled by one thing that you mentioned, as a general question: I wonder how they manage to keep the doors open if they only roll out 2-3 basses per month, while supporting two employees? I'm guessing that the rent must be quite affordable.
13. How exciting! I probably won't be able to sleep for the week leading up to the delivery of my Wal.
14. Hey, nice! I'm also a Patrick and I live about forty miles west of you. Welcome!
15.
I just don't get it with rush ? Always thought them overrated but to be fair I've never given them much of a go as I was turned off by what I had heard...... To those of you who are in the rush camp, please post a vid which you think will show me what they're all about.... Maybe you can show me what I'm missing ? (A genuine request, not a dig )
Here's one that doesn't get a lot of attention, but is perfect for moments like this when someone makes a request. This also happens to be a good choice when Geddy's singing ability is questioned, because it's a great example of his singing talents. This song is called "Available Light." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsjeQdEXOD4
16. I love these kinds of threads, as I'm entering my 32nd year of Rush being my favorite band, and by a wide margin. If not for Rush and Geddy it's doubtful that I would have ever touched a bass. And those guys still bring it.
17. You guys sure know how to greet a new guy. It must be the neighborhood Walcome wagon.
18.
Making the most out of the sunshine before it disappears for the winter...
My goodness...that is STUNNING. I just found this thread and have spent the past two hours scouring all 18 pages. Waiting for my Wal is going to be a loooong time, but in looking at all of these shining beauties, I'm thinking of making a change to my order to get the gloss coat instead of satin on Padauk!
19. Middle of the road... How about the Center Lines? Or the Back Seat Drivers? (Or would it be Centre Lines )
20. Merry Christmas! Yes, I've seen a number of Yanks here so I should feel right at home. And yeah, "Walcome" is perfect! Haha!
