Steady. Next thing you know you'll stir the 'Just Stop Cliquey In-jokes' brigade into action. Last seen un-glueing themselves from pictures of Helen Willetts after a failed attempt to prevent another page turn.

Is there going to be a 2024 Midlands Bash? Thoroughly enjoyed the last one.

I’m after something simple, warm and with a sense of quality about the tone/build. If I have a gazillion knobs to twiddle, I’ll get overwhelmed and won’t get the most out of the pedal.
That sounds like a pretty close description of the PC-2A! -

This is interesting. A "mellow warmth" is definitely what I'm going for here. And that's a generous offer. I'm in Retford, north Nottinghamshire.
Yes, very organic and round. It was a compressor that @Osiris suggested as he is familiar with our music and it was a perfect recommendation.

Effectrode PC-2A (which has valves in, I believe)
Firstly, paging @Osiris
Secondly I have the Effectrode PC-2A. I play semi-hollow short scale basses in an acoustic duo and the mellow warmth of the PC-2A is second to none, lovely.
Where are you @bassjamm? You are welcome to try it out any time.

The Waza Craft flavour on might get you a littl closer...
I specifically bought the Waza Craft tuner because it matched my preamp, but then I bought a white compressor... 🙄

Thank you, kind sir.
I was hoping for narrower.
Maybe I'll have to give in and try one of the Nordy ones. I think they are 17mm at the bridge.
I have tried out the Gretsch short scales and they are way heavier than they look. I had a Nordstrand Acinonyx and I was concerned about just how narrow the string spacing was but it played beautifully and was comfortable and stupidly light. I regret selling mine on and am seriously contemplating getting another.

Anyone got one of those cheap Gretsch shorties?
What is the bridge string spacing please? I can't see that info on the website.

According to this, 19mm.

Hmmmm, deepest dub techno, atmospheric ambient, liquid drum'n'bass from Russia, listening on YouTube...

Go to Newtone Strings and get them to make up a set exactly to your own specs. I use them on all my short scale basses.

Would you get really high pitch farts for a few days after that?
Counter-intuitively there is no noticeable change to flatulence pitch, however, oddly, one's pïss goes bright green.

Not if it involves being filled with helium from behind.

I have won the day 383 times, almost exclusively off-topic posts in the DOI, something I'm rather embarrassed about. I would personally prefer for off-topic posts not to garner statistics, after all, this is a site specifically for the discussion of bass. There should, of course, be an off-topic section but the fact that I have won the day so often for making funny posts on a obscure branch of off-topic when there are hundreds of expert bass players sharing priceless information seems faintly ridiculous to me.

And who is it that names these genres and sub genres and what criteria is used in the process?
Actually it's me. I work for Spotify under the moniker of Genre and Subgenre Nomenclature Officer. The criteria used are me chucking darts at dictionary pages.
Smooth Wotocheshede Tech Slam is next in line for a nanosecond of fame, blink and you'll miss it.
