I have a Fender Rascal and it feels more like you're playing a 34" scale bass than something like a Fender Mustang.

Yes Esther Phillips nails it and has been one of my favourite GSH covers since iheardit on it's release.. I first heard GSH in 1972 and bought every album from then on on it's release and although many artists have recorded his songs few are really successful due I think to the often simplicity of his originals. I can't say I'm a fan of the Billy Valentine cover. 

I just had to play the GSH original after that.

Have been looking for one of these for a while and picked up this Navy Metallic Sunburst one in mint condition with the protective plastic still on the truss rod and cavity covers. Really pleased to find one in this condition.

That model was my first bass bought new from Project Music in Hounslow 1992.

Great basses and worth every penny. GLWTS

I had one of those some years and the seller is right about it needing a polish but however much you polish it it still needs another polish.

It's part of Fender's Squier Paranormal Series which according to Fender brings several forgotten gems from the Fender archive back to life although the Squier Rascal is a quite a bit different to the Fender Rascal.

I have to remind myself at times that my Fender Rascal really is short scale.

I think that Fairytale were the house brand of Musikhaus Kuhn in Zurich in the 70s. 

There was a Fairytale ES-345 copy on Reverb a few years ago for over £1,000

Is this pickup only or would you send it to a UK address?

Yes I understand. I was older and had more money but they were always out of my price range too! I think at the time one of their main selling points was that you were buying an American built custom bass or guitar built to your spec. 

Well it was around the time of those Carvins you saw in Bass Player magazine in the 90s

I seem to remember that ABC Music who had a few shops at the time were UK agents/importers for Carvin in the late 80s early 90s and you could choose and order what spec guitar or bass you wanted through them.

That's interesting. They did have a siding/moveable pick-up but it looks really odd with those replacement tuners as the originals were the much smaller guitar type tuners that many short scale basses of that era used.

I remember seeing many cheap Atrics basses on eBay around 2005ish. They seemed to be anything from 4 and 5 strings to Hofner type Beatle bases.
