SORRY that should be connect meter between RING and SLEEVE !

Ibanez EHB1000 (new toy) measures 1.3mA. Might be worth trying the Energiser Lithiums but looks like you have a higher drain active.
Anyone else measured the current? Easier way is get a Stereo plug and connect current meter betweet ring and tip. That will turn the bass on.

I fitted the battery so only the negative terminal was touching the contact in the housing.
I then set up my multimeter and touched the leads in series between the positive terminal of the battery and the positive terminal in the housing
I read 6mA using this method. Seems about right to me (what do i know 😁)
The reading dropped to zero when the 1/4" jack lead was removed from the bass
Maybe I was just unlucky with 2 batteries, but i'm not the first to experience this from a few google searches
Odd....
Only ever had a SR500 active bass. Seems hard to flatten the battery (but did not leave plugged in on standby). I read a little under 1.5mA using same method, so a lower drain bass. It is pushing it a bit to design electronics to run on 9V, 18 would be better. So rechargeables, NIMH and Lithiums are too low a voltage for a 9V circuit to function as designed.
Incidentally, I bought a "trail camera" a few years ago. It came with some Energiser Ultimate Lithium batteries and these were recommended by the manufacturer, worked better than Duracells which were rubbish. It was the highest spec Energisers. These are not rechargeable so you get the full 9V, higher capacity. might be worth trying but maybe 6mA is a high discharge bass. I have a headless Ibanez, I'll get it out and measure it

I think Fender admitted it was a problem with bolt on necks a while back, and they had no solution. But I heard there was a headstock clamp affair. Also Tungsten slugs fitted under the tuners. ? I had noticed neck resonance can also vibrate open strings if not muted (if 4th or 5th)
I suspect laminated necks don't have this problem, being more rigid.
Just bought a concert ukulele and f# is quite dead but it is a bit of a plunk, plunk sound anyway.

They were all on their game for this gig. Joni's voice is especially good during this period.
Odd how the cameraman has problems finding the bass player, always happens.

I find this a bit sombre (but good). Written just after WW1, Elgar had lost friends and horses and was not living at his beloved Malvern

Did anyone catch the ELP December 1970 Lyceum film - was a few days ago now. What a mess, totally ruined by the psychedelic overlays. Early historic ELP film ruined. But I guess there are few dinosaur prog rockers on here!

Lead free soldering is pretty rubbish compared to old lead/tin. I built an 18W valve amp lead free, had quite a few dodgy joints I had to re-solder. Guitar soldering always looks a bit rough anyway.

When introduced as a 'new, improved' Telecaster model, the Thinline cost roughly two week's wages ($375; average US salary at the time : $7800...). Things have changed...
Wasn't nitro-cellulose deemed a health hazard a while back, and phased out, generally..? How 'green' are the 'new' 'vintage' finishes (or doesn't that worry some Americans any more..?)..?Everything is carcinogenic in California. Can't remember what I bought recently - but it had a warning.

So not geddy’s then but a restored moog ‘signed’ by geddy 😄
There have been a number of similar raffles over recent years, probably one a year, with a restored MiniMoog each signed and donated by a esteemed musician. Most seem to be primarily keyboard players. Who knows?

Why are you associating China only with cheap goods? iPhones aren't exactly cheap and they're made in China.

Someone should market string gunk, as James Jameson said "The Gunk keeps the Funk".

Attachments don't usually get archived. Looks like the domain name is registered until April 2023. Probably the web space rental has lapsed - losing everything on the server.

You do need to check. There is copper tape available where it is adhesive but where the adhesive is not specified to be conductive. I know this from an EMC lab that I've used and friends with the owner/consultant. Some clients turn up thinking they have their kit properly shielded with copper tape. Only to find out they have the non conductive adhesive type.
Thanks for the tip. Chinese copy? Just got a couple of chips from China to make a ring modulator. Farnell prices had gone up to £30, so I got some from China for £3. First one went up in smoke!

Don't they have a UFO problem there? Stray magnetic fields. Or it could be the Northern Lights magnetic storms.
