2.
You have remarkable taste Stu, lovely basses mate.
I think so Al Seriously though, they are really nice and I'm more than happy for anyone to give them a go. They'll be at Bass Day this year and are always available to try at OW
 3. I agree with Ped, Dood and Luke I slap on 5's - but have done fine with 6'ers and tight 5's - and I have rather large hands. If anything I think slapping on 6'ers tends to improve your technique. As you have to think a little more you start to develop a much more economical slapping technique, your movements have to be more accurate and I've found it a good way to create intricate sounds with slap. Don't be put off by the amount of strings
 4.
Hi mate Good to see some pictures of the finished article - looking cool - really like the fretted one too... Hopefully get up to see you soon, had an email from Laurence he reckons another 3 weeks on the Micro 300's... guess I'll be popping up then
Hey bud Good to hear they're on the way (finally) I'll bring both of them down for you to stick some fingerprints on Stu
 5.
Hey man, that's absolutely gorgeous - I'm most jealous! Is that the one your brother was working on in a previous build diary on Bassworld? Eude
Yeah - that's the one (BTW I love your SC... I have a 6 string Sc on its way also - in design at the moment) He works for Overwater and it was his first Jazz build - start to finish (he actually worked on the Copper Jazz also). As it was a custom job I was around a lot to see how things were going and lend a hand as and when. Here he is sanding a Perception . . .

 8.
Sorry its not a Fender, its a "parts" bass
Measure the distance from the nut to the middle of each pickup (assuming it is a 34" scale ) and I'll tell you
 9. At least you know what you like now Alan...... you've had a productive couple of years Anyone who has taken the Michael has done it either in a friendly manner or they're jealous You've been able to try each bass out, in a gigging situation, rather than have it sitting at home for 6 moths before you realise it just doesn't work for you. I'd love to post up all the basses I've had over the years - but I can't remember
 10.
Thanks chaps. Maybe if it keeps NOT SELLING for long enough I'll be able to raise the money to buy my gf's lovely P bass from other sources!
PINCH IT! I'm sure we've talked about this one before...... give me a shout if you need a hand Stu
 11.
that will slip thru with a bit of luck.........
Don't want to sound negative... but I've had a number of pre's off Dave and each one has incurred charges (including the dreaded parcelfarce handling charge). Quite rightly he does things by the book when shipping to Europe. Unfortunately that means more money However, they are great pre's and I've got quite a bit of experience with them now Stu
 12. If it's what I think you have, I owned a Jazz around 98/99 if my memory serves me. They were American Fenders that started life officially in the US, were then finished in Mexico and then sent back to US. They featured a 1 piece scratchplate, much like the early 80's run of jazz basses, with strat style knobs. However, unlike the Mexican Jazz's of the time, they were better made, featured US pickups etc and in general were better bang for the buck. I modded mine extensively: Badass, changed the Scratchplate to a black one ( adding a bell plate instead of the 1 piece configuration) fully shielded and setup and a nice set of Dimazio Ultra J's. Even to this day, it's the best Fender I ever owned, and the bass that started off my Jazz love affair. I think they're great basses; reagrdless of where they started out, and as I said - at the time much better than the Mexican, and some of the USA J's Stu
 13. Its true... I did look into getting an order together for anyone after an INCASE bag. However after contacting INCASE they weren't what you would call optimistic. Apart from the $200 cost, which works out at around 100GBP retail (before VAT etc) they were asking for anything between $200 and $600 shipping. This basically puts INCASE out of the picture for most as the cost is way inflated by the shipping. They are nice cases but there are nice alternatives available. I use Harvest all leather bag, as well as the canvas and leather Overwater bag (yes these bags are made by Harvest, spec'd and branded for overwater) however the all leather bags are the same as you'll get from Harvest. They are great bags, not cheap, but worth the investment if you're carry around a couple of grand worth of bass in something reminiscent of a carrier bag. If you need more info, pics etc on the Harvest/Overwater bags, give me a shout. Stu
