Anyone here use short or medium scale Rotosound swing bass? Just put a set on my Hofner and the E string has some really weird overtones, wondering if these die down once the strings break in.

I seem to think that I read about this issue ages ago where some short scale Roto's had weird overtones. It may have been on Scott Whitley's website which was called something like shortscalebass.com but doesn't look like the site is still active for me to go back and check. Either way, IIRC, you're not the first to notice this. But I always use long scales strings on my short scale basses and have never had any issues and I've been doing it for a few years now 😀

Looks great @ped, I find dark themes are so much easier on the eye. Any idea when it will be available?

The End of Days haz arrived.
Teeblet-boy arrived in the World yesterday.
Be afraid, be very afraid!

Played the bass (quietly) to the unborn this evening - apparently it kicked hard.
I'm going to take that as a positive crowd reaction.

20 week scan last Friday - it's a Teeb-boy!

Oh oh! Short scale GAS!

Weird, this does actually look like you!

Properly craving a short-scale at the moment. All it took was for me to pick one up at Northern Guitars in Leeds. Didn't even properly play it!
-
I moved over to short scales last year after a damaged nerve in my wrist made playing standard scale basses increasingly uncomfortable. I've never looked back, short scales are the future! Whenever I pick up one of my 34" scale basses it just feels cumbersome now! I'm also a short ar5e so they don't look daft on me either

Played some VERY nice Sandbergs today.
If my G&L doesn't up its game in the near future it could be facing the chop!

@discreet does this tickle your whatsit (or your wotsit) any? I err *cough* know the seller very well *cough* and can highly recommend him as an absolute gent (that's gent, 'K?) to deal with.

Gotcha!
Funnily enough the Magellan adds a bump to the lower mids too as well as cutting the extreme high and low frequencies to make a thick, smooth mid rich valve like drive that works brilliantly in the mix, better than any other drive that I've tried (of which there are many!). It's perfect for Motown and dad rock stuff although I often leave it on for the whole set, everything from Andy Williams to the Foo Fighters
Never had a chance to gig the Tone Hammer, unfortunately.

If your tempted by the warmth and drive of the TH I'd urge a look and listen of the Genzler Magellan 800. Having tried both I found the Genzler could easily sound like the TH, albeit the Mag sounded a little 'bigger' and the drive was smoother and richer than the TH to my ear. The Mag also does big punchy cleans with more conviction too, in my opinion. Not that I found the TH to be bad in any way

Cheers for the link @ricksterphil.
Yes that's exactly the one I'm after, but the cheeky seller is asking half as much again for a used one than a new one costs so I might pass on this one - I'm tight as well as impatient
