In what way does it differ from the production model? (IF it differs, that is...)

I'm not totally sure to be honest people have mentioned that they are not the same as the production model but I dont have enough details or experience with the production model to know. Only thing I know is different is the serial number sticker on the headstock.

  2. Item is no longer available

    Akai mpc live

Hardly used cutrently on 2.4 but can update comes with 128ssd Kingston drive installed and 32g sd card will also include an manual that I download purchased with over 700pages of help and instruction on how to use the MPC live.
Was planning on using it as the center of a live setup but haven't gotten time to learn the workflow.
Comes with original box and power supply.

Any questions feel free to ask.

  3. Price drop till monday none bass related item is availablethat I have my eye on 1500.

I'm really not sure about doing this and I'm sure I will regret doing so but I'm not really playing and the bass is to good to be sitting around.

This is an unusual Yamaha it was made and used as demo bass at trade shows sent to pros to develop the 2024x high end  bass series I belive it's one of four and possibly the only one that has been sold.

I found it in PMT birmingham fell in love with the sound and feel of the bass it is a one off and one of the best I have owned. It does.have some differences to the production basses and I have tracked some of the history from forums etc but it could still be looked into further and I also have an email from Yamaha which states it is a prototype.

It has aged really nicely with some marks crazing and general play wear but is all the better for it.

Comes with the original yamaha hard case.

Any questions feel free to ask.

  4. The realisation has come that I'm not gigging and keeping this rig is not really the best option.

Custom vertical blue tolex zilla 2x12 with BN12-300s speakers, It's a 4ohm 600watt cab that isn't to heavy to shift on your own.

Has slight Mark's on the top from the rubber feet of the amp but great condition.

Also ABM 600 VI cracking head that hasn't got the use it deserves great sound loads of power and suits the cab well.

Any questions feel free to ask.

650 the pair will trade for small home use setup ctm30 or bareface 1x10 etc

    Head sold

    Cab still available £325ono

What's the big green thing on top of Dave's rig? Doesn't look like the amp head as that looks to be underneath.

Trace Head on an Aguilar either a spare or the Aguilar is a spare or trace as a pre as I think he likes trace? Possible sponsorship for the Aguilar.

It’s a chance encounter with a 1990’s American Made green one years ago which has formed the lustful memories...

    these look absolutely stunning.

I have a starfire from the 90s cracking bass mines natural but would love to find another in cherry or just another really.

I did try a Newark one but the rosewood bridge saddles caused me issues with string loss that I don't get on the 90s one as it is all metal

  7. Its been a while and this is really late but...

I was on the hunt for a head and having taken a trip to the big smoke to no avail I decided to take a trip back to one of my favourite shops PMT Birmingham as it was in my old stomping ground.

looking to demo a couple of heads Orange 4stroke,Ashdown ABH600 etc so needed to pick a bass to try them out with.

Hidden at the back where they put some of the used equipment a silvery glint took my eye! The bass looked used had some marks and crazing in places I had heard good things so decided to give it a go. It sounded and played beautifully but I wasn't looking for a Bass really but I just kept playing and playing. A brew a bit more playing and finally a deal for a head and the bass came about.

Now the special bit is the bass had a couple of quirks but after a chat with the staff and emails from yamaha all became clear the bass is one of the demo/proto basses made to take to trade shows/let artists use I believe 4 were made and this is one of them (picture in another thread here https://www.talkbass.com/threads/yamaha-prototype.569739/page-2

This explains the age related marks and knocks etc.

Anyway it's a stunning bass and plays amazing with cobalts on it.

  8. I have had another play this evening after work and the hum is quiet without a bass plugged in. It is noticeablyworse with a bass plugged in and as you increase volume and is worse with certain pickups. So it looks like earthing as mentioned.

The only confusion I have is when I tried the amp on purchase sounded perfectly normal with no buzz/hum even with the same bass. So that accounts for part of the sound but not all of It.

Would a speakon connection alter anything as I only have jack speaker cables and the head was connected to the cabs in the shop via speakon?

Is there anything else I can try?

  9. Hi no pedals in the chain just straight in.

As I said there is a noticeble hum when nothing plugged in, (wasn't noticeble in the shop where I purchased the head ABM 600) the cab is a zilla 2x12 600w also purchase new.

I did try another head an old swr which had even more noise and my old mesa setup which I recently sold never hummed in this way with any bass etc.

If you plug a bass in regardless of volume a large increase in the hum doesn't matter which bass I have tried 3 a guild starfire, fretless ESP and a yamaha BB.

It' got me a bit stumped the only thing I  think is to get someone to bring another  head and cab to me and see if we can isolate the problem or take them to a retailer to do the same.

  10. So I have recently got a nice new amp and cab with the plan to get out gigging again in the near future.

My issue is I get a quiet hiss/hum with no instrument plugged in but when plugging a bass into the amp the hum/hiss becomes extreme.

I have tried differing rooms so I know it' not the plug socket, two speaker leads, basses, cables etc.

The only thing I can think is it' s cab issue as the head and cab are new.

The company are happy to have it shipped back but I was wondering if I can try anything else before having to go through the hassle of shipping? (I only have one cab/amp at home)
