  1. I'd class these two as 'top of their game':

    1.

Bergantino Forte HP2 Bass Amplifier - Bass Direct

    https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/bergantino-forte-hp2-bass-amplifier/

    2.

Mesa Boogie Subway TT-800 - Andertons Music Co.

    https://www.andertons.co.uk/mesa-boogie/mesa-boogie-subway-tt-800

If I ever move on my Genz Benz/TC amps or fancy a change, I'll be sure to choose one of those.

Compared to guitar amp pricing now, we have it pretty easy!

I understand the issue with Gibson and the crazy price jumps, so I understand why people might not be happy, but for once I'm pretty sure £1550 ish seems fair for the top of the line USA made product.

  2. The unfortunate part of this is that the Classics, whilst they came out say 10 years ago, were also less than half the price of these new (4 string versions).

I picked up a Classic 5 Stingray (the best bass guitar I've ever owned!) for about £1600 brand new.

    Prices are crazy in 2023.

Those cabs are more or less the same weight as Barefaced cabs, at least the 2x10 and 2x12 anyway. I wonder how they will compare, performance and price. I’ve always admired Ampeg ever since I first encountered a 70’s SVT + 8x10 at close quarters. To me they were the ultimate in bass tone, but completely impractical to own.

For Ampeg, those cabs are exceptionally light.

Just because I have to vent, I am going to update you. Seller has now blocked me on FB so clearly has no intention of undertaking the 8 minute job of transferring the licence which will cost nothing. I am so fed up I am discussing this on the TB ToneX thread as well. Stereo whinging.

That is just pure annoyance! ☹️

  5. I can't think of anything worse than a silent stage.

All of the fun/sound just in your ears with no omppph....not for me.

As one of the biggest bands on the planet, they can do what they want, and I'd be just as ridiculous for fun.

    Probably 4 x Aguilar 412DB cabs.

Actually not for fender - they make a certain load of items and then that is it, move onto the next. Several things I thought might be nice (the paisley jazz bass) that they shipped out then never did again

There is a chap, Phil McKnight, who discusses these type of issues on his podcast/youtube channel. He worked in retail for many years as an owner of a guitar store.

I agree with him that many guitar brands are going for 'limited edition' more and more in 2023 as a marketing tool. Yes, they may well be limited runs, but the reason for it is to create a false sense of urgency...they could make more, but they don't so they'll sell the batch fast.

  7. I've heard that Mesa are planning to have products in Europe/UK by 'Summer'....which could be the next 3-4 months....

If I buy a new bass amp, it'll be Mesa or Genzler.

  8. I think it became too much of a 'let's get that clanky darkglass distorted tone' on the bass on a lot of metal/heavier music.

I still prefer the Tech 21 pedals.
