  1. Greetings! Recently I started using some flatwounds on one of my bass for a more jazzy tone, but now I want to string up my 5 string and ain't able to find a .045 - 0.145 flatwound set. It seems string companies aren't producing flatwound low b's with .145 gauge, which is what I use on a short scale so it doesn't go flabby. Anybody know why is that? However, I found out this guy, that produces custom strings on order: http://www.garrygoodman.com/sub_contra_flatwounds.htm Anybody has any experience with him or may have heard about?
  2. Hello everyone! I've had an Ampeg SVP 1500 (combined with an SVP Pro) for many years of pleasure, untill one day I rented it and someone spilled water on the power socket - sad story... Well it didn't burn imediately! One of the channels still worked for some days. But then came the end. I took it to two different experienced technicians and both gave me the same response: the pcb was destroyed, allthough most of the components were ok! So I was wondering: does anybody know if it is possible to get a new pcb from somewhere? A friend told we that it is possible, but I haven´t found nothing while searching the internet...
  3. Hello to everyone! I'm Antonio from Azores and I've been playing bass since I was 14... started out playing sax (tenor, alto, soprano) at young age and then... wham! fell in love with bass guitar! I play in two bands for quite some years; we cover lots of bands in hard rock style, but I also love to play some blues and jazz stuff. Have been rockin' two Yamaha Attitude: a Limited 1 and a Standard; I also have an Ibanez Silverstar unlined fretless from the 70s, just for those bluesy moments. Nowadays I play through an Ampeg SVT7 and a SVT810 cab (90s american version), but played many years through an SVP Pro / SVP 1500, untill a dumb@ss burned out my SVP 1500!!! Obviously I don't use this setup for rehearsal - for that purpose I use my faithfull 90s Carlsbro B1-200. And that's all, folks! Hoping to have a good time around this forum.
