1.
Hot tub, drugs and hookers.
This sounds entirely reasonable.....
2. Bruce Foxton is a Legend in my book.....message ends.....
3. I have a blue burst with the gold hardware.....great old Jap made bass
4. Princess of the dawn.....great Accept song! Can the singer do it like Udo?
5.
I regularly run synthesizers through my bass rig.On the odd occasions I do electronic live performances I like to make people's bowels wobble.
I like this answer :-)
6. I think for the money these Vintage basses are very good quality and this looks like a great example at a superb price GLWTS
7. I run my bass a couple of effects (chorus, flanger etc) and my Kaosillator through my amp. Do you think i should use a separate amp for each? The sound seems okay as i only use the synth for depth of sound underneath the instruments. In some venues i can use the PA others prefers the musicians to use backline. What do you run through your amp?
8.
Played a famous place in Grangemouth. Won't name it but it is/was near the docks. It was full of hookers. The image of the night was a couple in front of the stage. She was sitting in semi prone position and he was literally pouring beer into her face. Unfortunately it was also dribbling out the bottom end into an expanding puddle on the floor. Was a great gig.
This sounds like a great venue lol.....
9. How do the stings sit in the nut? Could be worn??
10. Like Howiebass i use the strings as a straight edge to set the neck using a cheapy Dunlop capo at the 1st fret. I have a couple of tuners.....one is better than the other for intonation for some reason.
11. I really like these basses.....nice n shiny and sparkly. Anybody got one and what are they like?
12. I have a 6" / 150mm good quality engineers rule that i have marked with a Sharpie marker at 4/32 (imperial of course lol) and a good pocket inspection torch. I also have allen keys and Phillips 1 and 2 screwdrivers.
13. Got there eventually.....dug out a proper analogue tuner (you know the ones with a needle lol) and a bit of perseverance and it's tuned! These strings are definitely better after a bit of a stretch and a play......they're .45 to .105's btw and i don't even remember if the old ones are the same gauge haha
14. My Nickel Wound XL's are on.....set up checked. They sound nice and bright accoustically and nice through the amp. Quite pleased at the mo but i am struggling to get intonation on the E string.....may need a bit of stretching first??
15. Take a lead.....set some musical targets and target dates for some gigs with the proviso that if the rest of the band aren't going to try and attain those targets that you want out.....at least then you can get an indicator from the others whether they're really interested.
16. I've bought some D'Addario XL Nickel wound from the Wunjo Bass shop today.....re-string and re-set up tomorrow.....i'll let you know my thoughts.
17. I'm lucky enough to work in Central London so can get to Denmark St.....always a bit dearer but less aggravation to just walk in pick a set £££ and go.
18. I'm going to try some D'Addario XL Nickels i reckon.....quickly before i change my mind lol
19. Phew.....thanks all Lie down.in a darkened room first i think lol
20. Whereabouts are you? I'm tempted by this nostagic piece of Jap history
21. The bass (30 year old Ibanez Roadstar II) has been in storage for about 10 years.....its quite likely all zinged out lol
22. I'll have to have a tot up later and see which to buy (deffo not roto's lol)....thanks for the input BC
23.
What do you like about your current strings? What don't you like about your current strings? In essence really i don't have a preference......i have just always used Roto's because......well because i have. I play rock music and don't hold particular allegiance to any string just fancied a change but with such wide choice thought i'd put feelers for a few ideas. clearly it's an individual thing but as it was time for a full strip down and rebuild of this particular bass (long overdue) see it as the opportune time. What kind of sound do you like? What kind of stuff do you play? ...etc. :-)
24. It's always good to see bad bands and terrible renditions.....it gives me and my band hope! Lol
