  1. I used to have one of these.  Great neck.

I rewired the humbucker(s) from series to parallel to make it a bit less boomy.  Presumably the coil tap on the OPs is taking one of the pickups out of the circuit for a similar result

The Countryman looks a cracking bit of kit, but I can only find one place to buy it, and it's £336 plus shipping. I like nice kit, and I don't mind paying for it, but this seems like a rather luxurious purchase which will get limited use.

This Behringer DI might be worth a punt, if you want something short term, or just to try as proof of concept. Less than £40.

It allows for connection between amp and speaker.

I've used one for the purpose of running a 'tap' off a PA system, with good results.

Risk vs hassle. Why not carry backup pants incase you 5h1t yourself?

Because if you s**t yourself you're only letting yourself down, if you can't continue a gig you're letting down bandmates, audiences, promoters...

  4. I currently always take one stage bass and a cheap short scale Encore as a spare kept in a case nearby - it's purely an emergency bass.

I've never needed a spare in 30 years, until last weekend at a festival set when the E string snapped mid set.  Thank goodness I had the crappy Encore on hand.

I’m torn. So many I could choose from, and a few I could happily never hear again (‘My Way’ anyone?) - and this coming from a guy with a Rock N Roll Over cover tattoo.

Honourable mention: ‘Who Wants To Be Lonely’.

    Winner for me is: Parasite.

But honestly, they’re all winners 😀. I have a playlist on the iPod called ‘Kiss-a-thon’. It’s every studio album, solos included, in chronological order. My youngest, 11, puts it in shuffle in the school run. Too much fun.

    Parasite for me also.

  6. A hofner Violin wouldn't be a bad choice for such mod. The strap is already on the heal (assuming you go for an Ignition, which the 'lowest' model)

You have to replace/flip the nut.

The bridge would need the fret-like pieces moving - very simple.

The biggest challenge would moving the control panel, by cutting a new hole on the other side and putting a blank or whatever on the existing hole.  That said, if you/she plays finger style I doubt the controls we be in the way anyway.

It makes no difference. The connection to the floor which gives boundary loading isn't mechanical, it's acoustical.

Is the OP perhaps getting a different bass response because the driver is closer to the floor when the cab is on its side?

Or does that make no difference either?

I've wondered myself what the effect of raising or lowering my cab is (Barefaced Super Compact 1x12), and if sitting it 'landscape' or 'portrait' makes any difference.
