  1. Ska band's gig next Saturday is at a Conservative Club. Hmm, well a payday's a payday I suppose. Anyway... I've bought a special shirt for the occasion.

Easy Star Allstars. Not only a really great take on Dark Side Of The Moon but also worth checking out Easy Star's Lonely Hearts Dub Band.

  2. I've noticed my left ear was a bit muffled of late, so all this week I've been popping a few drops of Otex in each evening in an attempt to soften it all up... last evening I gave it a good flush out with some hot water, and now not only can I hear in glorious stereo again, but I've got the makings of a good sized candle. zzzzzzzbx3o48f1K6x6.gif.b2b3fc9149a80279e6c0387c2182a48e.gif

Getting professionally de-waxed is surprisingly, ridiculously difficult and expensive these days.

They won't syringe your ears any more so they use a clever 'vacuum' system. That rules out well over 90% of the people who used to do de-waxing and gives the remaining few an opportunity to make you wait three weeks for an appointment and then charge you anything from £60-£100 for a treatment that takes less than 10 minutes.

      Don't ask me how I know ...

  4. Further to the 'community?' thread, do any of the Bristol BC massive fancy getting together for a pint and a yak? Maybe even a ruby?

  5. There's nothing in this pointless section. It can all go in Off Topic or some other area

In all fairness, I have just a single status.

      It's a gorgeous Streamline 5.

      And that was an update.

  7. I went to the Doctor's because I keep painting myself gold.

He said not to worry, I just have a gilt complex.

I Think the damage may be to far gone and I don't have the funds to buy another Bass but id love to find a way of replacing the top if possible and ideas at this point  would gratefully accepted.  Thanks in advance

      Ye Gods! What happened mate?

And was that a particularly valuable bass? Because if not, I can't believe it would ever be economic to repair something that bad. ☹️

  9. Sublimination of photos on aluminum plates - anyone on here do that?

I'm having trouble finding a supplier for a project

      Pretty sure it's SUBLIMATED.

If you've been surfing t'Net looking for SUBLIMINATION then you probably only got a very, very short glimpse of what is out there.

  10. Well, thanks UPS. They shipped my new bass from Tamworth to Amsterdam (where I live). And then to Stanford. And then to Amsterdam. And then to Stanford. And now it's on its way to Amsterdam for the third time in two days. Great.

Sorry to be a downer, but vampires show up in modern mirrors. They didn't show up in mirrors before because mirrors were backed with silver. Now we use aluminum.

  12. After seeing their energy bills rise, my local Chinese restaurant has been trying to save money.

They say they can't turn all the lights off, but they do dim some.

That is so outrageously awful that I rather wish I'd thought of it ...

  13. There's a first. We walked away from a gig without playing a note as the pub thought we had too many amps (we are a 5 piece) and our amps looked "too loud". We hadn't even plugged in or fully set up. When they asked us to lose a band member or play after 10pm when their restaurant was closed, we packed our gear and left. Lord Raglan in Wokingham, for the record. My advice: never accept a gig there

Presumably a "new/old Stingray" can also be described as a "Stingray"?

      2. It's a revolting colour.

      3. It has mis-matched strings.

      4. It's in poor condition.

      5. There is NO point 5.

      6. It ain't worth £1500.

      Next question please ...

  22. Hi. Nice idea which I appreciate, but I am thinning out my kit. Cheers Rob

Sandpaper would work, but if your kit is particularly thick then I suggest that you start with a rasp to save time.
