4. Hello, Our band is booked into record four songs mid October, and so I don't end up letting anyone down, I have 6 weeks to get myself in the best possible shape for this, it will be my first time in the studio. I work rotating shifts in Birmingham so looking for a tutor to fit around this. Primarily this will be to work on these four songs, but also to improve overall, and some input on sounds, amps, and playing in a studio. If anyone can recommend someone that would be great! I think id like these lessons to be face to face, and i'm willing to travel to you. Hope this makes some sense, many thanks!
5. Bought a Polytune off Red Mozzy, all working and packaged well. Good Comms etc. thanks!
6. I ran out of time with this but it's an entry. Tried something a bit different. A psychedelic soundscape which is what I get from the picture. https://m.soundcloud.com/thevelvetknock/pearl
7. This is my effort, I get a sinsiter feel from the picture, fairgrounds have always for me felt quite moody places. The ones from the youth were full of violence and debauchery. Ive tried to capture a psychedelic under the influence experience at the fair, which is what i get from the colours and the out of focus figure near the steam engine. Theres also a nod to shennigans that I obseved at the Unfairground at Glastonbury. The title is named after the Ghost Train at our local fair called The Bone Rattler. Thank you for listening. https://soundcloud.com/thevelvetknock/the-bone-rattler-demo
8. If I can't get something in this month, I'll definitely get one in next time round. Had an unexpected hiatus but look forward to listening to the compositions of the last couple of months.

10. Tried to get a dirty grungey sound, trying to capture war and panic. Tried to get a live desperate feel by recording through amps and in one take where possible. As always thanks for listening. One From The Chamber https://soundcloud.com/thevelvetknock/one-from-the-chamber-demo
11. I'm pretty much at the bottom end of the recording and set up scale. I also acquired a mac and started form there. I've got Logic Pro as my DAW and I bought a second hand Focusrite 2i4. I find them both great bits of kit and simple enough for me who's relatively new to it all to start recording with. I bought myself a second hand Shure sm58 microphone and a oxygen 49 keyboard. I couldn't/can't afford monitors at the moment so I just have a pair of £25 Sennheiser headphones. You can start recording from there, I'm hoping to upgrade a few bits when I can, but you'll be able to get something recorded with that. I either record my instruments one at a time through the Focusrite, or record through the microphone via guitar/bass amp or just acoustically. I probably know about 2% of what Logic Pro can do and 0% with regards to mixing but just have a go playing around with it. There's YouTube tutorials that are quite handy, and read through the recording guide on here which was brilliant for me.
12. Wish id had a little more time on it but its going in. Silhouttes https://soundcloud.com/thevelvetknock/silhouettes-demo
13. I've also gone for a 'moment in time' feel. Tried to get a suspended feel to the song, like everything has stopped, and the singer is looking back retrospectively at a moment he'll never have again. A bit of clarity in the chaos looking back as an older man on his youth. I'll upload it later when I'm at the PC, wanted to do a guitar riff driven song, recently done one which would have worked well but it would have been cheating, and I couldn't live with the shame!
14. After trying to capture a riff that in my mind symbolised a tornado, Ive just realised that the house has been placed there on purpose, and not by mother nature. Always read the question!! Quick effort as not getting much time at the moment. https://soundcloud.com/thevelvetknock/blue-boy-street-demo Blue Boy Street
15. Work is 100 miles from home and my computer l'd planned to finish it yesterday just didn't have time before I had to set off!
16. Completed 90% of mine but due to work I'll miss the deadline, so will have to go again next month.
17. I would happily listen to them all as an album! Thoroughly enjoyed this month. Need another listen, normally vote in my rule of threes, listen sober, listen drunk and listen hungover and then find an average.
18. Keep on keeping on lads best wishes. Originally had two songs partly recorded for this but never had time to finish. To get something down I've just done a simple number, having some trouble with a combination of recording, time and instruments at the moment. Steel Butterflies https://soundcloud.com/thevelvetknock/steel-butterflies-demo Thanks
19.
I'm not a huge Floyd aficionado, but this is one of my favourite songs of all time. http://youtu.be/JZkERB6dU_Y
And mine as well!
20. Cheers. Agree it's a great system, I read that you could put your own name down for each ticket but didn't see that in time.
