  1. Helix or not Helix...that's the question

  2. Just putting the finishing touches to NEW ENGLAND's latest track 'All the Kings Horses'....a piece inspired by Kurt Vonagut's short story about a lethal game of chess!

Been using an ACG Krell, custom built by Alan for me using all native woods.

NEW ENGLAND are a Yorkshire based rock band that (on and off) have been writing and recording original music since 1983...a bit 'proggy', a bit 'classic rock' a bit folk rock...a bit NEW ENGLAND really!

All our latest stuff, and a selection of stuff from the 1980's, can be accessed on Soundcloud or through the bands website  www.newengland-prog.com

Give us a listen (thats me in the middle!)

  3. You know that feeling where you contemplate selling everything you really don't need and keep the bare essentials? Yeah, something like that.

Oh mate.. I DO need a bigger house WITH an extension. Tough one on the kids actually. I kind alike them both. Maybe I could get the older one to do some Saturday work on the oil rigs to bring in some extra cash. Possibly a bit on the little side to operate the cranes and the like though.

Anyone know the lottery numbers coming up??? Or has won the lottery and not sure what to do with the odd 100 thousand? lol

Thank you Andy you lovely man you!

I've taken comfort from this that there are some instruments that continually evade the chopping block, mainly because they are irreplaceable. The great thing about the instruments that I have decided to sell, is that they are reliably the same quality from example to example. So, should I want another, I know that it won't be too difficult to find one. My "hand mades" are staying home.

I've just been playing with my Bergantino CN212 which was also due for the chopping block, but it has saved itself tonight by still sounding epic.. Are the HD112's going to get to instead?

Like you Nick, I actually have one main bass and I would really love another just the same to make a gigging pair. The rest I use for teaching or, when I was busy doing so, session work.

Live, I am going direct via Helix and running IEMs so I have piles of pedals that should probably go too (though I have a few favourites I cant part with) but a few amps could probably be cleared out.

I am definitely keeping my Berg head. The B|Amp is superb and of course it needs speakers, so matching Bergs will stay. Because of the situation here for the foreseeable, I cant see myself needing a festival rig or anything huge. I'm not copping out effects as much as the Helix takes care.  The purge has begun already, it might just be full of regrets!

Thanks Teebs :) - I anguish sometimes with this kit sat here that was going to be for "this band" or "that band" and right now its not doing much. Could I better be placed to put some funds to something I actually need? Hmm!

  11. Watch the Chernobyl TV mini-series. If you are 40 or over, you will probably recall seeing the news when you were young. You will want to see this series. It is very, very good. Moving and true to the events that shook the day and following years.

@mart3442 yes, they have stuck as much as possible to the facts. Pretty scary stuff.

@pete.young bloody hell is all I can say. As in the dramatisation, it was Sweden that raised the initial alarm to the West as the government at first tried to keep a lid on the whole thing.

@ead - well, I know that people like to make their big day memorable, but that’s going some!

Definitely give it a go @GisserD - Of course it won't be for everyone but I think the direction, dialogue and cinematography worked really well to capture the disaster. One thing I do like from a musician point of view is that all of the music and I think much of the 'foley' was actually recorded in a power station!

  14. Last call if anyone needs anything from Mouser. If you need something small give me a shout.

I've got an order that's above the threshold for free shipping and I'm putting it in this evening.

  15. Review the EBS HD360 Anniversary Model Dan? Oh, well go on then!!

  16. Wow! Helix LT is back with vengeance, I think my HX Effects will go up for sale with some other kit tomorrow!

  17. I have unnerving GAS for a 6 string, in particular an Ibanez SR1206. Perhaps it's something I ate...

  18. Helix LT en route. Upgrading from the rather excellent HX FX makes sense. Now to recoup some of the damage :)

  19. Swapping four strings in under 7 minutes...

  20. Is there anyone still making exposed core nickels and flatwounds, like the old Superwounds? All the exposed core strings I can find today are stainless steel only.

  21. The HX Effects delivered! No problems there. Now, about this Helix LT....

  23. I'll be trying out HX Effects at a gig this weekend. Stand by for updates!
