  1. There are many, but I try to focus on the positives wherever possible as all of those songs will mean a lot to far more people than will ever give a hoot about owt I ever produce. That said… Enter Bloody Sandman! 🤬 Turgid.
  2. Having taken said bass off Russ’s hands I second his opinion. Decent and perfectly usable for that kind of cash.
  3. Very sorry to hear your news, Ray. Echoing the above as well re:BC being the ‘best’ place to sell. The massively reduced number of time wasters here is reason enough for you on its own, I’d say.
  4. I get this. My number 1 bass (a Japanese Fotoflame Precision) was my go to since I bought it in 1994. It’s everything bass should sound like to me. All other basses I bought across 25 years - from Ricks to Jazz basses and even other P basses - came and went as they don’t sound like that bass. I’ve now been in a two piece bass and drums band now for 4 years or so, and it’s only since doing it, and massively different stuff with my bass tones, that I’m happy (and really, really enjoying) chopping and changing between a bunch of basses. I’m fairly certain though that if I found myself back only in a ‘normal’ band setup I’d revert to just the Fotoflame P, and be a good few quid better off.
  5. There’s ‘General Discussion’ and there’s…this.
  6. I saw these last night and love the Silver Mist. It does have me GASing somewhat. Not sure I could justify the extra notes though given how great the Vintage Pro/60s T-Birds are at their price point, especially used.
  7. Yep, these two are a fair way up my list too.
  8. What an absolute disgrace, an abomination even…lined paper, yet written in landscape?
  9. Russ, were I not now at what I think has to be full bass capacity at the moment after buying that fretless of you, I’d be messaging you again! GLWTS!
  10. Funky Distorted Liquid sounds like a DDH IPA for the craft beer folk. Nice review though! 👍
  11. I very briefly had a VBA400 (and the 4x12 matching cab) years back. Magnificent things! Congrats!
  12. Nah, not even close given what can be had for sub £200 these days. Anyhoo, that natural Z7 looks nice.
  13. Rollng the tone back on the P pickup (and for my taste having soloed it as well on your Yammy) either will get you in the ballpark just fine I’d say. Conscious you’ve already ‘downsized’ from an upright to electric. If you can, try a Mustang and see what you think. I love them (and shorties generally) personally, but they’re maybe not for everyone.
  14. I’m often told I don’t look it but I’m a very, very placid chap, but any snide comments about gear from anyone to anyone at any time grinds my gears sufficiently that I do let it bother me and become something of a mouthy runt. I may or may not have deliberately misspelled that… Annoyed with myself to this day that I didn’t check out one of the Freeman sigs when they were released.
  15. A rather cathartic rehearsal for my noisy two-piece (bass and drums) last night. Our first since the drummist (also my best mate of some 25 years) found out his Mom is terminally ill. Even well into our forties, just bashing the holy hell out of your chosen instrument still really has a place.
  16. That’s exactly it. Well done and thanks to mods and (pretty much🤣) everyone who posts!
  17. Bonkers that Trujillo’s been in the band 20 years and has only appeared on the same number of Metallica studio albums (not counting Lulu in that given it was a collab) as Cliff did in 5 years.
  18. Nice work. They’re a heap of fun to play. Mine doesn’t get too much use, but I do love playing it when I get round to plugging it in. Given the weight and dimensions it’s also helpful for my lad to knock about on. Re: strings, Shortscale GHS Precision flats also fit just fine on for the Longhorn, it’s what I have on mine. Outside of those and the LaBella strings though I’m not sure what else works.
