  1. Just saw this on social media today. Here's the full video...
  2. I saw the drummer from Yes, Bill Bruford, play a jazz set in London. Some excellent bass playing too...
  3. Yeah, their insurance excludes musical instruments, although that doesn't stop you paying for it if you don't read the full terms.
  4. I did one recently where I used parcelforce and insured separately with this lot... https://www.secursus.com/en-gb/ It was alot cheaper than couriers that provided insurance also.
  5. Just came across this thread and it's like therapy for me 🤣 I've been playing in church worship groups for 25 years with a few Christian bands thrown in for good measure. I've had everything from an American full time worship leader to the current regime of turning up half and hour before to have a run through. I'd definitely say additional practice pays off, but that is only possible if band members are committed and enthusiastic. I would also say this isn't just church related. I played in a jazz trio that did background stuff and there was no interest in rehearsing or taking the time to learn new songs. I left for that reason as it became really repetitive.
  6. Fell in love with an electra that @ots was selling, but I missed out. tracked a new one down (specific older model with maple fingerboard) at bass direct and it arrived yesterday. Had to fiddle around to sort out a buzzing 10th fret on E string, but sounding superb. 👌 👌 👌
  7. I have to say i wasnt expecting that when I hit play!
  8. I concur. This I can get into. And I also have eclectic tastes
  9. I agree, there's somthing about the sound that reassures me I have an OK tone - with other basses I'm tweaking all the time because I'm not sure
  10. Julian Lage (song from upcoming album via YouTube) Sampha Robert Glasper
  11. Yes, I find the same with this amp. Real clarity of tone so you can hear exactly what yhe bass has to offer. Shouldn't be selling this but I have an itch for another bass and can't rest until I have it
  12. Great quality amp for home playing or small venues. Hasn't left my living room since buying it a couple of years ago. It is really as new. Price includes shipping to mainland UK.
  13. If I had a pound for every time someone on gumtree asked me if this was still available, I wouldn't need to sell it Any comments on price or offers, I'd happy to consider.
  14. I am selling my Yamaha TRBX 5 string to finance other bass exploits (I'm a one bass kind of guy). These basses are really decent quality, very versatile sounding with a super fast neck. I've pasted in some generic info below for the technical amongst you, and I am happy to provide any further pics or information you need. Bass weights just under 4.1kg. I have owned this for about 2.5 years and it hasn't been gigged so no dings or bumps at all. The amber flamed maple is beautiful. I'm in N.Ireland so selling with an Armourdillo case which I will fill with packing material before shipping. Any buyers from NI, I can adjust the price for collection / without case. __________ Offering players a perfectly balanced instrument that blends maximum playability, with high-quality electronics, and boutique looks. Crafted Perfectly With their slim neck, 3-band active/passive preamp, and a flamed maple wood top over the 3D sculpted alder body, the TRBX600 delivers in every aspect of their design ethos, and would make a welcome addition to any bass players collection. Great Tone, Oustanding Comfort, Boutique Looks With the TRBX605FM you get yourself a stunning 5-string electric bass, with a supremely comfortable neck and body shape, sporting a Natural Satin finish. Featuring two YGD designed H5 pickups, an audiophile-grade active/passive circuit and 3-band EQ, and Yamaha's thinnest bass neck to date (just 38mm wide at the nut!) you'd be pushed to find a more versatile and finely-crafted bass within the same price bracket. High-Quality Pickups H5 pickups (as designed by YGD) are renowned for their clean, open tone that works perfectly with the flexibility of the TRBX605's active/passive preamp design. Featuring a quad-polepiece design, and alnico magnet construction, these powerful pickups drive the active circuit with ease, whilst still managing to retain the sensitivity and subtlety required to pick up each and ever nuance of your playing in passive mode. 3-Band EQ In addition to the Active/Passive switchable nature of the on-board EQ, the TRBX605 also grants you total tonal control via the Treble, Mid, and Bass Boost/Cut controls (when in Passive mode the Treble control reverts to being a master passive Tone control). Constructed using high-quality gold-plated parts on key signal chain contacts, the circuitry within the TRBX605 operates with an increased amount of conductivity and reliability than other preamps, and there's even a battery alert LED installed on the back panel, which indicates when the battery is running low on power. 3D Sculpted Construction Yamaha have designed the TRBX605 to offer the optimum balance between tone and comfort. Its 3D sculpted body sits comfortably against you when you play, ensuring a supremely comfortable playing experience, and is coupled with a fast, ultra-comfortable profiled neck that is constructed to offer both outstanding stability and excellent tone.
  15. I'm currently trying to sell a Yamaha TRBX605FM on gumtree (for a local sale in N.Ireland). If it goes I'll be in touch. Would you ship to NI??
  16. I only recently found out that the reason you use the third and fourth finger together is because they share a tendon, whereas the middle and index finger have their own tendon. I was making this mistake and now include chromatic runs up the finger board with a solid hand shape at the start of any practice or warm up.
