1. Hi guys. I have a Warwick Corvette 2004 $$ with a bolt on neck. I LOVE the sound of the bass, but I am not a fan of chunky necks. I am considering now keeping the bass but getting a new slimmer, faster, better neck put on it. Where do I look for a Warwick Neck 2nd hand / new. I tried the Warwick website but it was terrible and super confusing. Looked at a couple of the standard websites to find spares but no success. Where should I be looking?

2. before ditching it if you have the option I'd wait to play a gig in the way you now are thinking of going and seeing what the sound man says. Does running through the amp give you want you need in a live setting with a full band or is that where having options comes back in to play. There's a big difference between the rehearsal room and live. Maybe running into an amp clean for more of your sounds is the way to go, but just go in one direction without seeing if you can get what you need live first.

3. they're both back in the UK. I never had a chance to take pics before I left. I was just going to leave them on here in case someone wanted one. I'll see if I can get someone to send me photos of them while I'm over here so I can upload them. I'll be back in June so will add photos then. If someone's interested I can also arrange pictures to be taken.

4. Ditto Looper withdrawn as not been able to find it and I leave for the USA tomorrow. Pedals are still on sale and will be able to negotiate and deal with this over t'internet from America.

No Trades now considered as there's no point them being sent to America. I would still consider the pickups as a trade as it may not cost too much to post them to the USA, but if you are going to offer pickups for trade that will need to be in the next 2-3 weeks as I'll have bought the new pickups before then.

5. I’m finally getting round to selling my 1st 2 basses I ever played. They have been well looked after. Both in good working condition. The strings are old on both of them, but I didn’t see the point in changing the strings and charging a bit more for the bass when you’ll probably put your own strings on it anyway.

I am going back to the USA in 2 weeks so if they don’t sell before then I’ll box them back up and sell them again in 10 months time.

You’re welcome to come and try them, but at present I don’t have an amp to try them with as my amps are with a friend who is selling them for me. Please bring your own amp.
*N.B. You can hear the bass through a preamp and headphones, but if you want to hear it live in a room you’ll need an amp.

Totally reliable workhorse. Thunderous bottom end. I played some pretty epic gigs with this bass and it never missed a beat (although my playing probably did).

This bass has the standard neck dive associated with basses of this shape. I used a leather strap that was quite wide and gripped my back. That minimised the neck dive and I never got tired playing during a set.

Here’s the blurb:
The pickguard is dressed up with a Celtic cross while the black-on-black hardware and satin black finish give it a decidedly dark demeanor. Two Thunderbird Plus pickups provide appropriate growl.

Nothing more to say. The neck plays so well I wanted to keep it and make it into a project bass and upgrade the pickups but I never had time.

These cabs were high end professional lightweight cabs. The still are pro level and the sound is tight and warm. They are being held for me by a friend in Dorset who is happy for you to come and try them out. You will need to bring your own head to try them out as mine is not with them. Aside from the new, modern, lightweight cabs that have become common over the last few years, these are the lightest cabs I've used for the power and sound clarity they have.

I am waiting for photos of the actual cabs from my friend, but have attached stock photos. They are in excellent condition. I have found an old photo but it's not great quality.

This Cab has casters attached to the bottom. One of the wheels comes out occasionally, but only when going over bumpy gravel in car parks or lifting in and out of cars. Once it's flat on the ground it's totally secure. This means you can wheel this whole stack around easily.

7. I have reached the point of knowing what effects I no longer need… my journey with pedals has reached the season of selling off the ones I have no use for, but they are great pedals. I am going back to the USA in 2 weeks, but they can stay for sale with my mate in Dorset who will sell them on my behalf. I’m not desperate to sell so please don’t message with lowball offers. I am keen to sell but not desperate. The prices are very firm. I have priced everything at the going market prices.

[s]The ONLY trades I am interested in are:
Source Audio Aftershock
Source Audio Nemesis

See photo’s for proof. Most have NO velcro on the bottom (apologies it is the fuzzy velcro not the hook velcro as I bought a 2nd hand pedal board that has the hook side installed on it. If you want me to remove the velcro I will).

8. Hi all.

General question for input from people who have or haven't done this.

My scenario. Going to be writing and recording a collaborative album over the summer / autumn. Going to be producing it all myself.

I will have a website to release the music through, as well as releasing to iTunes / Amazon (through the 3rd party companies you have to go through for that).

I will have a business set up for this.

I am also considering starting my own label, but I am confused as to what the benefits of having status as a Record Label is beneficial as further opportunities may arrive quite quickly.

Please share some info if you have looked into starting a Label and have or haven't done it.

There's lots of info about "How to Start" a Label, but I'm struggling to find much info about "What are the benefits" or "Why should you" start a Label?

Thanks Basschatters.

Simon

9. Hi.

I searched Basschat for a thread about legals and couldn't really find one, but if someone knows a better forum area for this please feel free to move it there.

So, I’m planning on recording a collaborative project over the summer / next year.

The general idea and creative force behind the project is me. I am going to be doing the recording / producing work and most of the writing, however it is going to be done in collaboration with other people.

To add complication, it may will be happening with people from the UK and from Europe, and from the USA (I am studying in the USA on an M1 Student visa, then coming back to the UK / Europe for the summer then going back to the USA on another M1 Student visa).

I am a UK citizen, and will be looking to set myself up as a UK musician / producer. I will probably host a UK based website as my main way of distributing the music, although I may well put it on online distribution sites like iTunes / Amazon although I have not looked in to this or the fees that this entails.

I need to make sure that I have myself covered legally with waivers / rights / co-writing agreements and basic start up paperwork as a self employed person / company etc.

Where should I turn to for basic legal advice etc.?

Are there musician union / insurances that I should consider.

This is my 1st time looking into this so seeking advice for best steps forwards as there may be many more domestic and international projects involved and want to look at the best way to legally start myself up, as this is a small start up project, but could become much bigger quickly.

On the side I may end up teaching music too so any advice that incorporate that is appreciated but that is much simpler.

Any input is welcome.

Thanks

Simon
