  1. How to confuse someone. Wire a jazz bass Tone, tone, tone.

  2. Very much enjoying the Delano hybrid jazz, mm system. Does passive jazz wonderfully and apes the active mm sound very well.

  3. That would be an ecumenical matter!

I never realised that Kenny played bass until a friend shared this clip of The First Edition - he's sporting either a late 60's Tele or an early 50's P but I'm afraid I'm not suitably qualified to tell the difference. I'm sure someone will tell us...

  5. Im in tone heaven. Ampeg valve amp, Pbass and flatwounds. Who would of thought they went well together. I'm pretty sure I'm the first to discover this combination 😉 haha.

But if you're going to, I'd rather early Larry Graham or Chuck Rainey than the 80s thing, IMO!

  6. Postman pat theme actually had a nice bit of bass in it.

I've always loved the "Busy Day" song with its pushy/walky bass part. It's off the first Postman Pat LP/CD, on which it's the last track.

What do you call Postman Pat now he's been laid off? ...'Pat'.

  7. Well I was wanting to buy a used valve amp. However my girlfriend has sent me a pic of a ring she wants and must have now! To be fair she did say she would buy me an amp at the end of next month, if I get her the ring. But like her I also have no patience haha. I will get her the ring.

Or, in the style of Homer Simpson getting Marge a bowling ball, perhaps surprise her with a YOB Jazz?

You'll find wearing the amp on your finger gets in the way of playing.

  8. Possibly stupid question. Does arrange own courier mean that the seller is always willing to pack the instrument. I'm not missing or assuming something am I? Theres no packing courier service I've been unaware off.

I think all this started when it became known that certain couriers (Parcelfarce) etc, did not cover musical instruments on the insurance.

If people wanted to buy something, then the seller would pack it all up and then its up to the buyer to arrange his own courier.

If it goes missing, the seller doesnt have to prove a thing.

I dont recall "Arrange Own Courier" ads before this revelation.

I don't get this...don't do half a job...if you're going to pack an item you might just as well spend 10 minutes booking a courier online. Let people think that you actual care about the item and your reputation on this forum.

I've had items go "missing" and even with proof of delivery, the evidence of such from the courier was not enough and consequently I've lost out. I can't see what is wrong with any ad that says arrange your own courier? If someone can't collect and they choose the alternative, surely that's their choice? They surely must understand any risks involved? If a buyer isn't willing to take the risk then why should the seller? I've only ever seen one ad on here that says collection is not possible. Sometimes items are too far away for collection but that's just life. If I sell an item that says arrange your own courier, it is not a cop out. It simply means that collection is preferred but if someone can't collect there is another option that I'm not willing to take the risk with.

  9. Fender pure nickel strings. Dead within 7 days, less than 5 hours playing time on them.

I wonder why the go so quickly. Construction is pretty much the same as a round just in pure nickel not plated. The advertising from Fender says nothing about sounding like crap after 5 hours lol. Ive had brighter 3 month old flats.

      Won't be using them again.

This is like using flats and expecting them not to be thumpy!

Accept some flats are bright these days. And these are advertised as a slightly more mellow tone with less finger noise. And not dead after 5 hours use.
