Your speakon outs of mixer go to your tops btw. Not sure it that was made clear already, just to be sure.
Reading back, only one sub so I guess you are stuck with a mono mix.
Cheers, not worried about a mono mix, we only put vox and drums trough the PA.
What’s a XLR to TRS lead, I haven’t come across those?

Post some Dyna links. Pretty darn sure, from the last time I was sleuthing for someone, the main mix send to the sub can come back as a main mix insert all crossed over for you to speaker out to your passive tops. You just need some XLR cables.
This one D.

From the Behringer website: "and the built-in stereo crossover makes this subwoofer ideally suited for use with any of our active 2-way loudspeakers".
Yep, having to consider ‘options’.
Short term may run line outputs to sub and power the tops from the Dynacord power section. Not ideal as I want to use the xover. Was aiming not to destroy the HK Pro12 tops with the drummer’s electronic kit……

Connecting this using its active crossover to a pair of HK pro 12 passive tops

Looking for advice on best place for a pair of speakon to female XLR leads. Connecting a 800w rms, 2.4kw peak active sub to a pair of passive tops.
Need 10m lengths, but finding prices all over the place and most made up ones seem to be short lengths. TIA

After 14 years playing with ‘The ELO Experience’ I am looking to retire in the spring of 2024.
Subsequently the band are looking for my replacement, and I suggested putting it on here
first to see if anyone is interested? I’ve posted more details in the ‘Bassists Wanted’ section,
so please have a look if you think it may be for you.
Many thanks, Pete.
It won’t be the same without you Pete but 14 years is a good stretch without inflicting harm on the Vocalist and/or drummer.

Ever since I learned Psycho Killer, the bass line has kept popping into my head. Get out, dammit!
I always use that line at soundchecks…

It's had a refinish for sure !
Just popped the controls out, the pots have scraped through the black and I can see that it used to be green.
Thats a shame, these look really nice in trans green

Looks at a minimum that it's had a refin, I don't think I've ever seen one in satin black and/or didn't have the black 'mock' graphite straight through paint job on the body.

I only use mine live, can’t say I’ve experienced it being noisy compared to some Jazzes I’ve used in the past so it’s still unshielded. If I was to use it for recording I’d probably shield it though.

Very impressed thus far, these gigs were its first "war volume" outings and it made an impressive amount of sound for such a small cab. The first night, it sounded a bit "boxy" but I was using a borrowed head which I was also unfamiliar with. The second night I had a play with the EQ and found a much more rounded tone which pleased me greatly. Was considering getting a second one, but honestly the single one was coping fine in the two pubs I was playing in. Might still snag a second NY121 anyway, but it's nice to know that in a pinch, one seems to be able to make itself heard no bother.
Cheers, my finger's bruised on top and a wee bit swollen - it was a regular door rather than a car door and it wasn't slammed on it so hopefully it'll heal up ok.
Adding a second ny121 opens up the sound a fair bit even at low volumes. I find a single ny121 always sounds a bit ‘boxed in’.

Three gigs for us this week, all over the place too!
First was in Stamford on Thursday night. The Corn Exchange is a great theatre in the picturesque
town centre. Largely run by volunteers, it’s always a good place for us and we sell it out too,( although
only seats around 400 so it’s one of the smaller venues we regularly do.) Great crowd and atmosphere,
and I got to meet up with an old school mate who I haven’t seen in over 40 years!
Last night we were at The Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone, an iconic venue with views over the channel.
Had a dreadful journey there though, with the M20 partly closed due to trucks being held there due
to channel ferry cancellations with the appalling weather conditions. Really blustery all the way,
I was struggling to keep our bus in a straight line a lot of the time. Anyway, we arrived a bit late
but got soundchecked quickly. Not an easy place sound wise, but for the first time we flew the
top part of the PA and it worked great. First time we’ve sold the venue out with 830 people in.
There’s room for dancing at the sides which is great, some people up almost straight away!
Really appreciative crowd, all in all a cracking gig.
Today we’re driving up to Stevenage, so just hope the weather lets up.
Nice to see things going from strength to strength mate. BTW spoke to a couple of guys in the week who I believe have worked with you in the past, Mike Harrison (drummer) and Colin Powell (bass, guitar) who pass on their best.

My budget number one is a Squier Mikey Way Mustang. I originally picked this up for its subdued colour scheme that fits right in with the glam band I’m currently in. Not many of these about and found it at a little online seller in Brum. I wasn’t especially looking for a short scale but quickly gained appreciation of its compact dimensions on some of the smaller stages we find ourselves at. It’s not without its limitations, the pickup while being a humbucker is a bit underwhelming compared to my other 2 shorties (fallout clf and a JMJ) but I can dial in a decent thump with my rig. I might get around to changing it for something a bit more punchy at some point. On the other hand it’s easy to play and has withstood the rigours of 300 gigs or so, so not bad for a budget job.

So you stopped working on bass and your bass playing abilities stopped improving.
And you started working on your vocals and your vocals improved.
Who'd have thought? 😆
Crazy eh?
Well at least I know now who to come to if I’m going wrong in future.

Not one bass player on this forum is not better now than they were when they started.
At some point they make a decision not to do any work to get better.
I think that’s a stretch Timbo.
id say my bass playing has probably declined a bit over the last few years but my abilities as an overall performer (backing vox particularly) have improved as that is what is required in the current band….if anything I’m working harder that I was when concentrating on being the next Pino.

I consider myself mediocre but some of that is because I know my musical theory is pretty pants. I’ve occasionally got good comments and I take it as a positive that I get asked to jam and dep so I try to focus on the positives. I’ll never be Entwistle or Pino but I intend to be a weekend warrior till I drop.

Sad that mate. We usually insist the background crap goes off while we sound check, if this doesn’t happen we crank the volume until it does…

Well unfortunately after all the learning the vocalist suffered an injury and had to cancel all gigs until the new year. Still, as they say no practice is ever wasted

Don't do many rehearsals with my band (70s Glam Rock) as we are normally gigging plenty and only really need to get together to pull in a new choon or pre-test new PA etc. However our autumnal break left me with 2 weekends free and a local band with a bassist deficit (due to illness) asked if I'd step in on 3 gigs booked on these 2 weekends. So cue frantic learning of 37 rock n roll standards and a rehearsal last night with 3 musicians I hadn't played with before. Bit of a challenge as RnR isn't really my forte and I refuse to use a music stand with chord charts.......glutton for punishment. as they say in Yorkshire, 'It'll be reeet'.

After a break from playing i've been loving my Sterling 4HH in Trans Gold lately - checked out the website and they've totally decimated that range, 2 colours and single humbucker only?!
Also can't believe the price these basses are running, I ordered mine through Bassdirect about 10 years ago and think I paid £1550!
Calling their budget range "Sterling" is a crazy shout too, but I imagine there's already been plenty ranting on that front 😂
I know what you mean, I’m one of those who prefers the Sterling to the Ray but explaining to the uninitiated what it is….
Still looking for an illusive Starry Night finish 4H Sterling

Very much on the fence if these upgrades justify the price tag.
It’s a big hike. I think if you pick up one of the later make original MEs you’d have a lot left over to do whatever upgrade you wanted.
New stage clothes

I’ve built up a selection of highly dubious clothing over the 7 years I’ve been with the current band. Wifey no longer gets concerned when she sees me looking through women’s sparkly tops and tight flares.......
