Sorry, that meant nothing without context. I have briefly alluded to it on here (perhaps in the "giving up" thread), but we're having a terrible time finding a new singer for our covers band. So far nothing but timewasters, wannabes, poseurs and weirdos
And sometimes all 4 in one!

Is it a series or parallel wiring on the pickup? Internet searches suggest these basses gad different wiring depending on year.
Many thanks 😊
Not the OP so apologies if incorrect. I think this model was only made briefly (as opposed to the full fat Ray sub) and was series only. My model was definitely series.

Nice little jaunt into Dronfield last night, great club with a nice clientele and atmosphere. The Christmas songs got their 3rd play of the season and spirit is still sufficient that no one is groaning yet.
Audience decided they wanted us to stay up all night but after 6 encore numbers we were released and even managed to get in just before 1.

Sorry, my mistake - I was referring to my SBMM 'Ray. I've had the posh expensive one too and have to agree with your colleague. Mind you, IMHO the difference in ownership experience doesn't reflect the massive price differential. The SBMM version is real value for money.
No worries Mike. I know what you mean about the price differential, the price of a new one (they rarely come up used - even then they are mucho casho) at +£2k is hard to stomach but I guess that's where the prices have moved. Makes me take care of my old EBMM Sterling a bit more when I see the prices now.

That is a great price for one of these and should be snapped up in no time. Sorry to hear about your health issues. I still miss my old Streamline (even the CW Sig I ended up getting later hasn't made up for that) and I'd have this in a heartbeat if I had the funds to hand. All the best luck with the sale!

Schallers on all of mine except a Mikey Way Mustang, the screws on the MW do not want to play with Schaller pins and I really didn't want to plug it so that one lives with Grolsch rubbers. Never had a problem with Schallers or Grolsch tops - unlike Dunlops which I found could let go if not checked fairly often. YMMV.

Had a lovely white s-s 'Ray that was very comfortable to wear, a nice player and sounded great.
Come to think of it, why did I sell it? Disposing of it virtually amounted to a criminal offence. "Before sentencing, I'd like 27 similar offences taken into account m'Lud!"
I could probably run to a Sterling Ray SS without too much drama but the word from my EBMM fanatic 'colleague' tells me that full fat EBMM is the only way to go. Not having played either (and not much chance of finding a EBMM in a physical shop...) I wouldn't know.

The drummer in our band uses a high end E Kit. I generally think it helps FOH in terms of adding some of the sounds required for our set list, but as we don't have the best on stage monitoring I generally find the sound doesn't inspire me on stage as much as an acoustic kit. Also, we've sometimes found when we are playing some rallies/outdoor jobs where the PA etc is provided, that less experienced soundmen can really screw up. Like Nick (Old Horse), at a rally earlier this year one soundman managed to turn off the on stage monitoring of the E Kit and, despite gesticulating frantically he didn't sort the problem until about 4 songs into the set. God knows how we got through that one....

Currently getting a hankering to look at a EBMM Ray SS but it would mean having to lose one of my current shorties - don't ask but it keeps me out of the divorce courts. Problem is I like all three of my current shorties; the mental G&L Fullerton Fallout, the JMJ Mustang and my Mikey Way Mustang which has done about 300 gigs with me (and looks the part in the Glam Band). First world problems eh?

Rotator cuff - always reminds me of it's presence when lifting up one of the PA speakers
Menieres - a little occasional wobble due to wearing sunglasses on stage and the balance organ laughing in my face...
Mid set need to visit the porcelain wall - courtesy of a bladder that hates me.

I had the 12" combo and ext speaker and altho it always sounded great out front and fits into a mix really well i never quite liked the onstage sound and sold it on to get my first Mesa rig with Mpulse 600 into PH212. I'm really enjoying the Ampeg SVT7 with Mesa SW210/115 cabs. The ampeg has a little bit of grind to it when i dig in that i really like.

Sadly I wouldn’t fit all that in the boot of me Mini Dave 😂

Played one of the worst gigs I've ever done last night... horrible grotty little (anti) social club somewhere in the Midlands.
The sort of place pregnant women go to smoke.
There was a loud ten piece soul band playing a private party in the next room (who sounded pretty good to be fair),there were about 20 people ignoring us, half of whom were kids under ten.
Everyone was vaping indoors, including some of the kids I think.
There was American football on all seven enormous TVs and a dog wandering round.
One guy sarcastically danced, a women asked for Mysterious Girl by Peter Andre, apart from that, total silence. No applause, no engagement, nothing.
I'd rather have played to the proverbial brick wall.
Longest two 45 minute sets in history. 😐Played the StingRay and apologised to it four times.
We packed up in 22 minutes flat, which beats the previous record by nearly an hour.
Got paid cash and let us never speak of it again.
We’ve all been there mate, paid practice and all that. No fun though….even watching Strictly would probably win out.

Nice sounds there mate.I got hooked on the MarkBass 12” about 8 years back. For me I haven’t been able to find anything that combines the same blend of great sound, size and weight.

A return to gigging after being laid low for a couple/three weeks (and missing three gigs! Eeeeek!) with a horrible fluey thing that was worse than pretty much all of the 4 lots of Covid I've had*
Know what you mean….me and the guitarist are both down with it at the minute, coughing like crazy. Singer really had his work cut out as me and guitarist vox died in the second set 😞

Which pub? I've only played at Venue 23 in Wakey before but am actively trying to get more gigs closer to me (most of the band is in Cleckheaton, guitarist and I are in the 5 towns) so any suggestions welcome!

Gig in a city centre pub in Wakefield last night with the glam lads. Lovely staff and well looked after but sadly it was a pretty poor turnout. It was the pubs first birthday and they wanted a party atmosphere but this is tough when you don’t have the numbers. It was a pub grub come sports bar type place and as often seen once the grub and sports finish the punters move on.
That aside, those that stayed were very enthusiastic and we had a ball anyway, as we always say it doesn’t matter if you’re playing to 20 or 200 always give it beans!

I too have menieres and have just started to use IEM. Still getting used to the being separated from the sound but can already feel benefits. May be coincidence but also find taking my meds, betahistine dihydrochloride, at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day is important.
Thanks LD. I’m fortunate at present that other than a bit of crap balance I only get vertigo very infrequently so don’t need the betahistine.

Do you mean essentially feeding the whole mix to you in-ear while excluding all external audio?
Yep, that would be ideal.

I’ve had this affliction for over a decade but managed to live with the tinnitus, occasional bouts of vertigo and increasing deafness reasonably well. Unfortunately the latest curve ball it has thrown me is to affect my discrimination of notes lower than low G, it makes them flat.
Now at low volumes this doesn’t occur but as the volume increases it presents and can make life tough on stage as I have to ignore what I’m playing.I’m thinking that I would be best going for a simple IEM setup to enable me to play a bit longer; I can’t get the rest of the band to go this way so can someone give me advice on what I would need (and product recommendations) to enable a nice clear low volume feed for me alone in the band situation?

This looks to be still available, at this price it’s a steal. I had one of these for a few years and gigged it alongside my EBMM Ray and if anything I preferred it.

Forgot to mention…..driving back down the M1 from last Saturdays gig I was increasingly aware that my night vision was rubbish. I thought to myself, well the hearing is on the way out so why would I be surprised about the eyesight. It was only when I took a close look in the rear view mirror that I noticed I’d still got my ‘gigging sunglasses’ on. My normal specs were in the gig gear in the boot so had to suffer the affliction for the remainder of the motorway bit.
Definitely losing it….

Always amazes me that the prices on these are so reasonable when you look at pricing on US Fender and EBMM. Every bit as good as EBMM and IMHO a notch up from Fender Corona. Great price GLWTS.
