Here is my list: Peavey Microbass (20 watt?) practice amp Laney RB7 (2x10 combo) with matching 1x15 cab Ashdown ABM 500 Evo III with matching 4x10 TC Electronic BQ500 with 2x Barefaced Super Compacts Ampeg SVT CL with Barefaced Two10 (did have six10 for a bit but was overkill) Ashdown CTM-15 I still have the Ampeg SVT and the Ashdown CTM-15 (the Ashdowb i have been meaning to move on but it needs looking over by a tech before i do and i have never got around to it.)

I’m using the gear4music one. Seems to have protected my basses perfectly well so far. I’m sure it may not be as good as the expensive ones but it’s good enough for me.

Had a great time last night playing the first gig since we changed our band name. We have been so busy writing a new album that we haven’t gigged since July last year. felt really good to be back out and playing live. I’m always worried I might lose the passion for playing live but thankfully it is still there. we played at club 85 in Hitchin and I used my preamp / cab sim combo for the first time. Just to update this thread. I’ve found a solution that works for me (potentially). i ended up buying a hotone omni ir and coupling it with a broughton sv-pre and using them both as my foh sound. I’ve loaded the ir with a dr bonkers ampeg 8x10. It sounds in the ball park to my amp so I’m happy. The real test will hopefully be at this weekends gig. I’ve also added a ABY so I can split the signal one to amp and the other to foh stuff.

I know it may not be for you but.. I’ve never used my amp at home, I use an audio interface into my laptop with a decent amp sim. Gets me in the ball park of my amp sound and can silent practice.

Sounds like you have a good set of starting pedals. I don’t think you need anything else to be honest. if you are running a fuzz or distortion all the time maybe look at a clean blend for if it doesn’t go bass-ee enough. Phaser/flanger style pedal pushed by the fuzz always sounds great. I’ve never found delays to work for me but have started using a EQD afterneath reverb for atmosphere stuff which sounds awesome (again pushed by a fuzz) On a slight shift in topic, the rest of my band plays in drop c but I found I prefer to tune to C standard. I have a svt cl and had a barefaced 6x10 for a little bit. It was glorious but I never felt like I was pushing it in anyway, I ended up selling it because it was a pain to get it to gigs. I now use a two10 with my ampeg. I know it is tiny in comparison but I’ve found when at gigs I pop it on top of whoever’s cab is already there to raise it up and it’s mighty loud enough and gets the up to ear height feel of a big cab. It’s a lot cheaper and easier it shift around.

I believe the Bassrig super vintage has an "amp out" section on the pedal to try and reduce this issue. with a high and low frequency knobs and horn cut switch. !

I had some success using an ampclamp and audix d4 on my cab. I found it once it was set for the first time. It could be replicated every time after that. As it slides onto the cab in the same place. Might be an avenue to explore for the OP.

Just resurrecting this one a bit as I’ve been messing around at home with pedalboard (fuzz etc) into audio interface for use in logic. It sounds horrendous until I put an amp sim on. which made me realise that is this essentially the sound I am sending to the front of house or does the di on my Ampeg SVT-cl colour the sound so it sounds nicer? I may have to experiment. Im thinking if it does sound like this to front of house. either asking to mic the amp at gigs or I’m wondering whether splitting the signal and adding a Ampeg sim pedal to the board plus DI. would be a viable option.

Possibly, maybe, could have potentially fixed the issue. I rewired all the off board wiring. I think it may have been a ground issue. It didn’t make the noise when I just tried it but will box it back up and test it properly.

I’m gonna try it with battery tonight to see if it’s a power supply issue. I’ve been running it through a cioks dc5.

Thanks for this, I’ll look for what else could be causing this. Apart from this odd noise the rest of the circuit seems to be working.

Yeah pins 1 and 8 are connected, I’m unsure if it fully is the charge pump but it’s a siren type sound almost like a flanger noise. Thanks for this! The mouser ones have a £12 postage on them which feels massively steep.

All in price was about £41. That includes enclosures, drilling, coating, uv printing and shipping. I didn’t think it was a terrible price considering the quality and not having to do it all myself. it took 2 weeks from order to delivery so overall not too bad. I would certainly use it again.

Updated board shot. A bit of a rearrange and a new pedal (the afterneath) The afterneath with a fuzz before it is a lovely atmospheric type sound, i doubt i'll be able to use it much in songs but i'm sure i'll find something to do with it. So the Megalith clone is now finished. I had one in a larger enclosure with two footswitches (one for heavy mode) and never turned it off of heavy mode. So i made a new one with a 125b enclosure. It sounds the same as my other one so i am happy with the space saving. The green one in my post above i am currently having a struggle with. It sounds brilliant but when muting the guitar i can hear an oscillation type noise which is really annoying. i have a feeling it is the 7660S i am using in the charge pump. The original circuit has a LTC1144 however i couldn't find any in the UK, The build doc suggested replacing with either a 7660S or Max1044. I don't know if it is not optimal 7660S or not so i am going to do a bit of experimenting with trying a few out.

I would stick the foam to the bridge cover. And work out some sort of quick release for the entire bridge cover. I’m unsure on the specifics but should be doable

I ordered a couple of enclosures from Tayda between Christmas and new year for a couple of projects I have on the go. I went for the custom drill and uv printing service. took me a while to actually wrap my head around it all. I usually drill, paint and design myself but wanted to find out if their any good. They arrived yesterday and I have to say the quality is impressive. The purple one is a megalith clone from a pcb, i already have one but I built this one to reduce the footprint and remove the heavy button. The green is stripboard version of a Dunwich D-120 for my guitarist. Which is based on a matamp. Hence the look. And the band logo.
