Total Watts

1. Cheers Matt, I'll hopefully having a proper look next week.
2. Hello! A friend of mine is getting rid of her guitars + amps and she's offered what looks to be a musicman copy and a TE amp for £150, she also sent me the most horrendous quality photo and I'm struggling to figure out what model the amp is. Anyone got any ideas? Much appreciated!
3. I've gigged with a Korean '96 Jazz (CN Serial) for the past two years, at the risk of sounding like everyone else the neck really is brilliant, it's the best I've played in terms of comfort. It's quite a heavy bass as well, I suspect that the body is made from several layers of laminate however I've not had a proper investigation yet. Glad you like your new bass anyway.
4. Had a good play with mine during practice, all's well except for a few niggling problems: 1: The frets are mostly fine but there's a few sharp ones. 2: I turned my OD pedal on and OH DEAR JESUS THE FEEDBACK MAKE IT STOP! - I definitely should have shielded it like previous posters have. 3: The strap doesn't distribute enough weight across my shoulder and feels awkward after a while. Obviously it's not a problem with the bass itself but I really did want to play at least one gig using that fabulous strap. Still, for £50 brand new it's a bloody bargain and it was a pleasant change for me from playing a jazz.
5. I played a venue in Birmingham last year where a band had a bassist/vocalist + drummer. Absolutely loved them, especially since the bassist was nice enough to let me use his cab. Unfortunately I can't find any of their stuff on youtube, but there's some stuff on BandCamp - http://gagreflex.bandcamp.com/
6. I just got a pre-loved one for £25 and stuck some flats on it. Unfortunately mine's all black but the previous gent was nice enough to give me a pink, fluffy strap. I'm quite impressed with how responsive the tone knob is, sounds smooth as hell with it rolled all the way down. Definitely worth a buy to noodle around with.
7. I got the German and Strad mixed up, I made an educated guess that the Strad would sound brighter but I was sadly mistaken. I may invest in a £40 Tesco one though, the neighbours would love it.
8.
Not as bad as the mistake I once made. . .
I never made that mistake, hence why I'm the only Mancunian in a band full of scousers.
9. Depends who it is, I don't speak to anyone in the previous band I was in except the drummer, although he's my brother so that's kind of different. I get along great with my current band though, I had never met two of them and only had occasional drunken banter with the drummer at open mic nights prior to forming the band.
10. Doesn't look like it unless you count the combo amp with the detachable head. Seems they only do 1x15, 2x10 and 4x10's which are identical to each other.
11. Just gigged my RedSub head + cab tonight, happy as hell with it. Had a blast watching the band before mine whose bassist has a Fender Aerodyne Jazz (which I so desperately want) and an Orange Tiny Terror + matching cab, it sounded so warm and punchy, kind of made me want to caress a pair of tits somewhat vigorously. The RedSub definitely has a solid mid to high end punch to it, I had to whack the bass up a bit on the bass boost but the tone is 100% usable. The 1 x 15 cab is fairly light, it's less than half the weight of my old Crate combo which I used to lug around (it was about 95lb). It's nice to be able to carry a cab with just one hand. I'd obviously prefer the Orange stuff, but at a fraction of the price and weight I'm certainly not complaining.
12. About 1 month if you include college gigs, I had already played guitar for 2 years and picked up bass because there was a severe lack bassists at college, probably the best decision I've ever made. With a proper band it was 3 years until I gigged with them.
13.
I tried both left and right handed basses for a few weeks, right handed felt best despite me being lefty. Likewise on drums, I play right handed setup but don't play crossed.... left hand for the hi hat, right hand for the ride, whichever other hand for the snare. The advantage is that both hands get the same workout whereas most drummers have a weak hand. And yes, for fills around the kit I mostly have to lead with my right hand, although leading with the left results in some interesting fills.
I'm exactly the same as you, my brother is also a lefty who plays right handed guitar (he's never touched a bass) and right handed drums although he plays cross handed. I've tried a left handed bass before but it was extremely awkward, I couldn't fret particularly well nor did I feel I had as much control with my plucking hand.
14. Admittedly I haven't used much Behringer stuff, the only Behringer item in my cheap arsenal is the BDI21 pedal. Apart from it feeling cheap, being made of plastic and some of the settings being all or nothing (I notice no difference when I change the Presence unless it's all the way up or down) I quite like it and it has a good place in my cheap gig rig. My gig rig: Squier Jazz Bass (Korean, made in '96) Behringer BDI21 RedSub 500w head RedSub 1 x 15 cab Over all I've spent just over £500, it's not perfect but it's giggable beyond an acceptable level I reckon.
15. I think he's sealed the deal there by adding a "Badass bridge". I actually quite like the look of it though.
