  1. No longer available

I’m probably going to PX my Les Paul Tribute but before I do, I thought I’d offer it on here.

The Tribute is the “cheap” Les Paul and is basically what used to be the Studio before they started getting all blinged up 😁

To me, they’re the perfect Les Paul - fuss free, light weight and not that expensive that you’re scared to gig it!

I bought mine in 2020 from Guitar Guitar and then promptly quit the band and haven’t really played in anger since.

It’s immaculate and comes with the very nice original Gibson padded gig bag and all the bits and pieces.

No trades, I’m afraid, just good old fashioned money 😁

I’m reluctant to post so please PM me to discuss options.

If this hasn’t gone soon I’ll be trading it in but in the meantime, here’s a few pictures…

  2. I might do this for, say, a valve amp where there’s a small possibility of thermal shock or condensation on electrical components. Maybe an hour or so at room temperature to acclimatise.

Not for an instrument though, not in the UK.

  3. I have the Uno drum which is great for noodling. I’m permanently tempted by an Alesis as a cheap’n’cheerful accompanist and the elektron model cycles has an appeal because of the sequencer capabilities they have. Oh, and I really fancy an original Drumbrute.
In fact, I’m a complete tart for drum machines but I’m managing to stay strong.

    For now, anyway

    £250 inc. foot controller

For the guitarist in your life….

I bought this new in November last year along with the Boss cover and GA-FC foot controller. It’s been upgraded to the latest firmware and then, I’m sad to say, ignored.

This is because a) I am terminally stupid and b) quit the band shortly after I bought the amp and never actually got to gig it.

I’ve finally accepted that my gigging days are done so this needs to go as it’s looming presence is a constant reminder of what might have been….

Brand new this lot is about £440 I’m asking just £275 collected from North Nottingham or I can do local(-ish) drop off. I no longer have the box so shipping is not an option, I’m afraid.

Condition is fantastic and you’re welcome to come and try it out….

  7. With immaculate timing, I bought this just before I packed in gigging with the result that this has never really been used - a couple of home practice sessions and that’s about it.

I’m having a huge clear out and as there’s no real prospect of me using it in anger any time soon, it has to go.

Boxed (instructions are somewhere…. Or on the web if I can’t find them) and available for pickup/local drop off or I can post for a fiver.

    Any questions, please PM me

    Thanks for looking!

  8. The Music Lab (rehearsal rooms, studio and teaching facility) in Hoddesdon has classes for drums, bass and guitar and they put students together in bands for end of season gigs. They have students of all ages and abilities (the drummer I worked with in my last-but-one band studied with them and was well into his forties).

That’s the closest I can think of to what you’re looking for and it seems to be really popular. Of course, it’s no use if you’re not in Hertfordshire but there may be other schools/studios who are running the same sort of thing.

I've got a Native Instruments M32 sitting in a box unused since COVID if that's any use to you? Used it for a bit of recording for a few months to stop myself from getting bored before the gigs came back. I doubt I'll use it again (and I'm a supporting member)

That would be great but the M32 is a bit bigger than I’m after. The Korgs look like they might do the trick

  10. I’m looking for a small 25 key midi keyboard to use with my tablet when travelling. Obvious candidates are the Akai LPK25 and the Arturia Microlab.

Anyone with any experience of either of these able to share pros and cons? Or recommend anything else that I should consider?

It needs to be rucksack-portable (so fairly rugged) and be iPad, laptop and Android-friendly…

  11. I’ve long been of the opinion that trying to prevent cookies is basically pointless. Pressing a button that says “reject all” does not guarantee that all advertising and tracking cookies are being rejected - we are basically taking it on trust that the sites and their affiliates are actually disabling all of the advertising and tracking features as we’ve requested.

Saying that, I trust BassChat a darn sight more than most (any) other sites and I’m prepared to accept that the guys are trying to find a way of generating some income from the lurkers and non-supporting members while giving paying subscribers an ad-free and track-free experience.

With all due respect though, I do wonder if this might have been implemented in a slightly more inclusive fashion? This is a community so maybe it would have helped to give us a bit of a heads up about what was going to be implemented. I’m not suggesting that we should be given any kind of say in the matter but I generally think that if you tell people what problem you’re trying to solve, they’ll work with you to solve it rather than react badly when change just happens for no obvious reason.

Anyway, I’m happy to let the guys work through this and iron out the wrinkles.

On a separate note, I cannot understand how companies can believe that online adverts beyond a simple banner can ever be effective and help sell a product or service. How on Earth, for example, Grammarly expect me to subscribe to their appalling word-mangler just because they interrupt anything I want to view on YouTube every thirty seconds to show me 5 seconds of the same fecking advert is beyond me.

Still, if someone seriously wants to pay money just to know that I’ve entered this month’s photo competition and am a bit interested in the Ampeg DI box then good luck to them.

As someone pointed out many years ago, if you’re using a service and you’re not paying to do so then you are the product…

  12. Sold a Behringer X Touch to Andy. Fuss free transaction and an absolute gent.

Exactly how a BC transaction should go.

    Thanks Andy!

  13. On hold pending the usual formalities…

I bought this a few years ago when we were in a larger house and I had the luxury of a fairly large conservatory to use as a music room. The area where I used to sit and play was some way from my desk and it was always a pain to have to keep remembering to take the mouse over and try not to lose the connection while I was starting and stopping playback and stuff.

So I got this to put on a small stand to give me full control over Logic from right next to my practice chair. It works really well as a remote control in that way but I also found that I really like the hands-on control and it feels much more natural adjusting a physical fader than using a mouse.

The date code on the back says 1606 which I take to mean that it was built in 2016. I bought it new from Gear4music in June 2017.  Condition is excellent, I’ve tested all the motorised faders and everything works as it should. I’ll also update it to the latest firmware when I get a moment.

I used it with Logic but it should work with most if not all DAWs including Ableton and Cubase.

It’s not had a ton of use, especially since lockdown ended and it’s been sat in its box in the spare room since we moved to our current place a year ago. Given that I can now easily touch all four walls from my seat in the new music room, I really have no need for this and I desperately need the space so….£150 seems like a good price to get it gone and a bit of a bargain for somebody given that these are £450+ brand new.

I have the original box, power lead and the quick start guide (I can’t remember if there was a full instruction manual in the box or whether that’s online only. If I find one, I’ll put it in.).

I’d prefer not to ship if possible but if you’re interested, PM me and we can discuss options.

Thanks for looking, here are some pics

How is a quantum computer any different from what we use today aside from being faster?

Current encryption technology relies on it taking so long to try and break the encryption that it’s not a practical approach. The promise of quantum computers is that, among other things, they will be orders of magnitude faster, making it practical to try many different key combinations. There seem to be legitimate concerns that the encryption approaches we use today will no longer protect the things we want protected.
