  1. James, the [s]wife[/s] financial advisor has given the green light. PM me the address for collection and how you'd like payment and I'll arrange the collection. Cheers Michael
  2. Is it in decent condition apart from the noise and the missing screws? Any knobs missing/damage etc?
  3. I'm after my first head to go with my de-amped Ashdown C115 so I might be interested if the Financial Advisor approves. What condition is it in and how bad's that noise. We have some pretty quiet segments and I wouldn't want to stand there sounding like a swarm of bees :-) Would you be able to package it up as well - I could probably arrange a courier from this end if it's easier. Thanks Michael
  4. Forgot to say before but I wasn't really any more nervous playing in fornt of people than I am when we jam. I guess it's probably down to knowing that I'll still get the "Death Stare" from the Guitarist if I screw up even if it's just at practice! Looks like we may have a couple more potential gigs so I guess we'd better sort out our equipment as ours is a little lacking to say the least. For anyone interested here are the youtube links from the gig (not including the covers and please excuse the sound quality - my camcorders not really suited to this). 5. Well it's all over, for now. The rain held off and although we played under a green gazebo (which made us look a bit like the Incredible Hulk but without the muscles) it actually went really well. We only played a short set of eight songs, four originals and four covers (all Kings of Leon) - total time about 35 mins but I'm taking the lack of missiles and booing as a postitive. Got some good feedback and the biggest applause was for one of the originals so that was nice. Made a couple of mistakes. Got distracted by my Wife and lost my timing but just stopped and jumped back in at an appropriate moment and the drummer managed to launch one of his sticks at me - luckily he had a spare set on his kit so it wasn't too noticable. Been told that I've got to develop a poker face as apparently you can tell by looking at me when things go wrong! Overall a very succesfull day and we managed to pick up a couple of potential future gigs. I'll put some pics up when I get them off the camera and also post a couple of youtube links to the vids. Thanks again for all the comments.
  6. Thanks again for all the advice. Leschirons - took your advice. Booked into the local travelodge unmade the bed, opened all the toilettries but there was no TV so I threw the hairdryer out of the window - but it was wired into the wall so only made it as far as the bed. How rock & roll am I!!! Just been told that it's on regardless - assuming the rest of the band don't get drunk before we start. Apparently we'll be playing in the conservatory if it's wet and the guests have been cut from about 60 to 20. Would still rather play outdoors but what will be will be. I'll post again after the event. Cheers
  7. Thanks everyone for the advice (not sure I'll be taking all of it mind). Will be staying off the beer (well maybe just one eh) till after we play although I doubt the others will follow the example. Just checked the weather forecast and it's not looking good for the weekend so it may not happen after all!
  8. So two and a bit years after buying my first and so far only Bass, this Saturday I am to play my first gig. It's just a mate of the singers garden party we're playing at but it's a start. We're not really equipped for gigging yet but the singer put us forward anyway. Gonna play eight songs - some covers and some originals. Any advice for a gig virgin? We put a couple of vids up on youtube from our last practice if anyones interested. Search for mrbobpacbear. Thanks
  9. OK, finally I managed to get hold of her. This has been GAS approved by the Financial Advisor. Subject to sight I'd like to take it. PM your details and we'll do the deal. I assume you take cash?
  10. I must be missing something with the Brown Fish thing???? Anyway, why won't she answer her damn phone? Does she know something already? Allright which one of you talked?
  11. I'll have to check with "Er in doors" but I'm definately interested. I'm currently typing this from just down the road in Borough Green. This could be what you might term "a result" for me. Will let you know as soon as I can.
  12. I might be interested. I could do with a decent cab to replace an old guitar one that I'm currently using (for practice only of course). Are you actually Sevenoaks based or surrounding area? Would have to financial approval first if you know what I mean.
  13. I always use Windowlene (or any other of the glass cleaners). works a treat for me.
  14. We were lucky enough a couple of months ago to have our first jam in my office at work. Unfortunately my boss said it could only be a one off so now we're trying to find some practice space to really get into the swing of things. I've got my sister asking round the local halls as she's "active in the community" so doors may be open to her that are not to me. Unfortuantely the drummer has no transport (he lives in maidstone) so moving the kit could be an issue - although I can probably store that at work and pick it up myself when it's needed. Anyone know anywhere in the Sevenoaks/Maidstone area that has practice space for a decent cost? Cheers Michael
  15. I got one from McCormacks in Scotland via ebay. It's not the popular Jazz copy mind it's a Bass Collection copy which I think looks stunning. When I first got it I was a bit dubious about it's sound but I've really warmed to it over the last few months. I've not seen a bad post about Sx's to be honest, even on other forums. All you seem to get is the "My SX sounds better than a Fender" sort of discussion which is a subjective issue anyway. Like I said, I love mine now but then again I've only been playing for 4 months.
