my amp started making a fluttery noise like mobile phone interference... turned it off and it won't come on

I have a gig tomorrow. One of the songs we're playing is I Can't Make You Love Me. Question is: do I bring a fretless just for that 1 song (out of over 20)?

Does anybody have a copy of "The Bass Chord Encyclopaedia" they would like to sell/ swap/ donate to me?

It appears that my bass amp (Orange Terror, 12" cab) is, when combined with a reverb pedal, a reasonable amp for jazz guitar soloing.

But, I would really like to buy an all-valve guitar amp, and now I have no good excuse.

Suggested a new song to the ska band earlier ("She's Kerosene" by The Interruptors). Sax player said she doesn't want to do it because there are no "nice chords".

WTF is a 'nice' chord?

Dear Basschat, I have a problem. I am so happy with all my basses and amps etc that I no longer feel the need to come here and look at things endlessly. How long will this feeling last?

Waiting for the call after an audition (on lead guitar) this afternoon. Did everything I could think of to make it work in my favour - learned more songs than they asked for, spent time on getting the sounds right, got there early, did some BVs. I defo want the gig (1 year dep slot) - just have to be patient now.

The pain of having a new amp, and the next gig having a provided backline of currently unknown specification

Whilst cleaning my teeth this morning with an electric toothbrush I found I could do a passable facsimilie of 'Livin On A Prayer'.  I may have dribbled toothpasty spit down my front but consider it a small price to pay.

Just completed my first ever fret level and dress of a bass.  Took it slow, but really pleased with the results.  Definitely worth learning to do!
