Total Watts

  1. So my little band has been doing well for it self currently. Self funded album out last year, Music Video, PR campaign starting up this month. So naturally we are looking to take things to the next step and potentially start looking for management. We are not entirely sure how to go about this though, and when we have someone approach us out the blue on twitter saying "Are you an artist looking for a manager?" with link to managerspro.com, we are slightly hesitant about it. Essentially, what I'm after is any feedback anyone may have with these guys
  2. I always figured it was just a GK head with gain cranked a bit. I could be wrong though
  3. IMO, there are only 2 essentials. Tuner, for obvious reasons, and a D.I, so you have a back up in case you're amp/speakers go, second channel, dirt/clean, or to give you some tonal controls if going into a house rig . Everything else is just fluffy fun stuff
  4. My first 5Dr was a Peavey Millenium 5 AC BXP, goes for £289 (RRP:399) on GAK. It's a lot of bass for you buck . Good neck nice weight. Very nice pick ups and electronics (18v rather than 9) They also do a passive variant which goes for, I'm guessing £200-250 range

    Drop tune effect

I went from a 6 string back down to a 4 as I thought it would suit the RAWK band that I'm currently in better and been happy just de/retuning the E (in reality it's a D as we play down a full step and drop to C for some songs), but I have recently realised one of the reasons why I used to always prefer 5/6ers over 4's is because I prefer the tone out of a fretted note rather than open... Means I'm on the hunt for a 5er again! So personally I would suggest a 5er (or a dedicated alt-tuned bass). After that an Xtender does look interesting, followed by a good tuner and just retuning when you need to change tunings, then bottom of the heap I'd put the effect from simulating a drop tune. My reasoning being that I'm pretty sure a quality one would probably cost more than a good second hand Squier... Oh another idea that hasn't been mentioned yet... A Sub-octave and playing on the D string instead?
  6. To be honest despite all the fancy ness it really does come down to P Bass, Flats, a very mid focused tone, and those damned fingers of his! He plays those fast gallops with only 2 fingers, without warming up, day in and day out... I swear he must have a robotic hand sometimes. You could get a rough and dirty approximation with a Sansamp with the presence jacked through the roof and a little bit of drive. But it really is down to those fingers above all else.

    Drop tune effect

I used to do all my dropped tunings on a 5 string, why retune when you can just play the 3rd fret instead on the B. Ultimate in laziness. Also seemed to make It sound, I suppose tighter would be the best way to describe it...
  8. Recently got my grubby mits on that offer too, but with 2 410s gotta say markedly impressed with the cabs, very nice and can go damn loud! The head itself is very flexible and very tweakable, but simple too. Only down side, no footswitch option for the pre sets. One thing I'm trying to get my head around... The head is a 4ohm but it is advertised, and indeed does work with, a pair of 4ohm cabs. Which means it puts out, theoretically, 1kw. It does appear to be doubly as loud when going from 1 to a pair. Going from 6 to 3 on the master volume during rehearsal. Just wondering what hocus pocus is being performed in side that head
  9. I have a sterling ray34 and ive found for a really cutting tone centred bass and boosting the mids and trebs half way between centre/full. Then setting the amp with bass n treb round 2 o'clock mark, mids dependant on overall acoustics of the location
  10. YES more basses at my favourite musical crack den =P. G&Ls, a few more of the delicious Musicmans (men?) you have on your tinterwebz site, Spectors, Shecter. A few more different cabs and head's, would love to see some Mesa in there somewhere
