Brilliant!!! The guy I work with/share a van with at work has just tested positive for covid.

Insomniac, Greek and a hopeless player. What could go wrong? Nice to meet you, guys and gals.

Joined 11 years ago today....I had three basses back then. A 4 string, a 5 string and an acoustic...probably owned 50+ basses since.
You people have been a bad influence on me...😉😉

Am I done buying bass gear? I just bought an 48" (120fps, 1ms input lag) OLED TV for the attic instead of a Nate Mendel sig Pbass. The other OLED in the living room is 65".
New one is used with the PC for Cubase and gaming, and the image quality is just astounding. Of course I set the screensaver timer at 5 mins because OLED will burn in if you don't take care of these things.

Now here's something I never imagined happening... actually considering going back to a 4 as my main gigging weapon. I love my 5s but I just fancy a change.
-
Assuming you wanted the bass, would you buy a 5 string that weighed 10.4lbs?
-
Played at Dutch national radio yesterday! Three songs, three basses, three techniques.

If I was after a 5 string and lived in London pretty much everything you could ever want is currently for sale in the "for sale" forum!
-
@LukeFRC indeed. My current lack of gas is disturbing.
I just bought a Mesa Boogie V-Twin pedal 5 mins ago though so I can go Ben Shepherd style later on this week.

Just discovered Biarnel basses.... wow....

How It's Made: Making a bass guitar from scratch: Biarnel Iter 4TB - YouTube
They look the biz! Can't say I'm thrilled by what I hear in any of the demo videos though - those seem to be rather generic sounding instruments.

If the same question gets asked over and over again on a forum... Does that make the question stupid?
🙂
-
@hiram.k.hackenbacker that's kinda my point. There's a pretty good search functionality on this forum and when you type one of those often asked questions into google you also can't help but end up here or on TB. In my opinion you're doing something wrong if you can't find the answers to those often simple questions.
That said - no question is ever stupid, the road some people choose to find the answer is. 🙂
There's also questions that can't really be answered like:
- Which is better Jazz or Precision?
- What's the best bass for metal?
But questions like that always seem to be followed by people posting pictures of their own gear, possibly in an attempt to be confirmed their own choices were well made.
Us humans have funny ways sometimes. Maybe it is a thing we should all cherish.

Hi Lowregisterhead.
I believe I'm now the owner of the Carvin JB5 you sold on Basschat in April. It was in The Gallery in Camden and I snapped it up last month.Great bass! Do you happen to remember what string gauge D'Addarios you put on it please?
Regards.
Terry.

I'm an amp geek. But I also like to go ampless with my HX Stomp...

I've been thinking about that too, but would miss those beautiful bass- and guitar stacks on stage for sure. They are just part of the atmosphere required to play rock music.
Saw some modern metal bands on empty stages playing through modellers and it just doesn't sound live to me but more like a produced and mastered product. I hate it!
All of the 'live' charm is just gone.
