  1. Now available again. US buyer didn't realise European voltage was different.
  2. Since some people have been asking: Really the only difference between the Pro and non-Pro is a slightly different frequencies for the ultra bass, ultra hi etc. You can get exactly the same sound as a non-Pro by using the graphic in my view. If you study the manuals carefully you'll see what I mean. The difference between the two SVT 2/II s is largely cosmetic but the older one has jack + banana plug connectors and the newer one has a Speakon/NL4 output. The older one looks nicer
  3. Very nice and clean example of a Hylight era two holer. Runs beautifully clean and quiet as you'd expect with the wonderfully smart and precise Hylight wiring, pictured here. I cranked this with a Suhr load box and overdrives nicely when it gets near the top. VALVES Power amp: 4 x Mullard XF4 EL34s, probably original Preamp: 2 x Mullard ECC83 / 12AX7, 1 x Sovtek, 1 x unlabelled, modern looking No issues except the pots could use a spray as it has been in storage and one cabinet bolt is missing. I will ship this worldwide at cost. I recently successfully sent a very heavy Thunderverb 200 to the States. I know how to pack.
  4. I have a few Ampeg rarities for sale. 1. Ampeg SVT-II 2 Pro Premiere Edition #40/250 300-Watt Rackmount Valve Head - 850 Good condition for the age. Everything works and it still has the original price tag on it - £1295! So an expensive piece of kit. Made in USA. These are no longer manufactured. 2. Ampeg SVT-2 PRO 300-Watt Rackmount Valve Head - £800 As above, everything works, no issues. Made in USA and no longer manufactured. 3. Ampeg SVT-IIP Rackmount valve preamp - £450 Pretty clean and hard to find Ampeg SVT-IIP bass preamp. This is the front end from the "non-Pro" SVTs and preferred by many players. Slightly different EQ frequencies from the pro series. It's from the '90s and shows some signs of age and use but in overall good condition. Everything works well, although the pots could use a clean as it's been in storage for a couple of years. Please note: rack case not included. These are all in London SW9. However, I will ship despite the immense weight. I recently sent an Orange Thunderverb 200 to the USA with no issues. I know how to pack. You pay the actual cost for shipping plus insurance. I'll send you options. Alternatively, drop by and have a play.

  7. Yup. I'm using a Fostex attenuator to match it to the SM212. I'm hoping to assemble it all this weekend so I'll let you know how it sounds.
  8. If you want a small sub speaker I can recommend the Lavoce SSF122 and its 10" equivalent SSF102. Work great in about 60l but they are inefficient of course. ANOTHER QUESTION: are there any 10"s that approach the SM212 in performance?
  9. Thanks, Phil. I received my SM212 from Blue Aran yesterday. It's going in a 115l box along with a JBL E120 to handle highs and mids, so it's a 2x12, but the other 12" is in its own little 15l box-inside-a-box. I'm biamping so I'll try a few crossover points, but may install a passive crossover in time. I am also considering a 1x12 sub in the future so would love to see the plans. Also, in that context something that works in a <50l box will be ideal and it only needs to be good up to about 200Hz in my case.
  10. Thanks for your wisdom, Phil. I have actually found a dealer in London who claims to have SM212s in stock but is a bit vague about pricing. I'll go and see him in a week or so. How about the Sovereign Pro 12-300 as something close?
  11. Beyma 12LX60V2 has similar curves but much higher power handling and is £60 more expensive. I haven't heard it so not sure of its character in the mids. http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=BMA12LX60V28
