  1. This is such a sweet tune! I love the groove and the bassline... and that melodic line around 1.10... Good work! And it sounds like a fun thing to play too!
  2. This is exactly what I wanna get when I get to sell my trace VA400... but then I live in NL. When you consider shipping, let me know anyway. Good luck!
  3. Ooh yes, that is a nice grove there! Thanks! One more I find fun to play... I like how he spreads out the silecnces in that specific way... making the 1's heavier by not playing.... and just refrains from playing a lot, just playing whatever he plays with this super heavy authority... reggae as it should be imo ... Excuses for the weird video.... but I liked the sound here
  4. Heyy some nice drum examples there! Not exactly specifically the dub things that I was looking for... but very nice stuff nonetheless! Thank you all!
  5. I have played with some drummers that were really good playing reggae and getting these dub things in there, without any effects, just playing. Now I'd like to show some examples of that to my friend... but it is not that easy to find. There are many examples that have a bit of it, and most with a lot of reverbs and delays... do you guys know any nice examples? I already found this one here in this thread: Any more suggestions ?
  6. This is from my favourite Bob Marley record... I love it, the vibe is hot! And no sloppy horns ... (but maybe that is a personal thing?)
  7. Yeah great tunes, I especially enjoyed the mitoo! Leaving it on I had youtube serve me this: And that reminded me ... (you hear that too right?) of these guys from Holland:
  8. Okay so some googling did result in me finding his name(s) ... and he played on a bunch of recordings! I'll take some time later to check some of it out, because with Alpha Blondy the man is superb, so much power and calmness in those grooves. https://www.discogs.com/artist/1039283-Abou-Bass?anv=Aboubakar+C.+Aboubbass&filter_anv=1 I play a few of those tunes, just play the line, and keep on repeating it with full focus without slacking or messing it up, it's very meditative. Made some vids on youtube as well, playing so little and maintaining the attention proved to be a good learning experience and a humbling one at that!
  9. Whoah! Tis topic is just a treasure! So many gems in here! Thanx all! My fav reggaeband must be Alpha Blondy and the Solar System. The former bassplayer, I somehow do not even know his name (maybe you guys know?), is one of my favourites as well... I saw them a few times and it's just awesome. Just a classic: Also one of the groups I've been listening a lot to this year, the Congos And as more of a question... I know the skatalites used to play with a babybass, which I think has an awesome sound for reggae/ska.... do you guys have any other nice examples of bands using babybass ? It has become very popular in cuba again (and salsa in general) but not so much in Jamaica, surprisingly. (Or not?).
  10. Awesome! Your bass must be in some ways similar to mine then. I have a '99 vd End. With indeed the pickups made by him himself. I've seen him a few times during the years and after a while he starting proposing putting in some other type pickup, but I 've never done that because I just love my bass the way it is now. Congratz man, and she is beautiful... I like the blue with the wood patterns still showing! I spuppose you have volume1, volume2, high filter, low where the low only happens if set to active with the switch... is that correct ?
  11. Oh and Christian, I forgot to mention the EUR price. So I have it up in NL for 1150E incl the speakers. Now those speakers are not worth much unfortunately. So I'd say 1000 E for the head. And as mentioned, if there is a way to do it directly without shipping I'd prefer that. Would that work for you ? Cheers, Chai
  12. Yeah sure! I live in Rotterdam but I could come towards the border also, then hand it over. Saves money and headaches.
  13. Hey man, so cool to do a laco tayfa cover... those guys are pretty awesome!
