Total Watts

1. Thanks for the advice guys, I'm going to use the 1x15. I will get some polyester batting for it. I can't find a proper spec for the cab, as Ashdown has updated it, making it smaller and have no idea about cab tuning. It is not a braced cab and my guess at the dimensions are from measuring internally, and subtracting the estimated space the handle sides and the speaker take up, which would be very roughly just over 4 cubic feet. Thanks again.
2. You're right Bill, was a daft question considering I'm only pushing 100 watts. I'm happy volume -wise with the one 15. I have the Kappalite in an Ashdown ABM cab which I measured inside after taking out the stock Blueline speaker and came up with about 4.5 cubic feet, it's vented and has no dampening material at all inside. I'm not at all savy about cabinet tuning etc. but the 3015 enabled me to get similar volume with the amp volume dialed back which was the goal, and tonewise it blows the Ashdown driver out of the water.
3. Hi there I'm currently running a head into a 1x15" 8 ohm cab. I own a 2x12 cab loaded with only one 8 ohm speaker...I plan to buy another identical 12. The amp I am using has an impedance selector which can be set to 4, 8 or 16ohms. It also has a jack for an additional series cab and one for a parallel cab to be used in conjunction with the main (which I am running the 8ohm 15 through). If I wired my 2x12 in parallel for a 4ohm cab and connected to the parallel input I would be looking at a load below 3 ohms which I don't want to do, so connecting the 4 ohm cab in series at around 12 ohms seems to be the thing to do and then set the impedance selector to 8 ohms. OR do I wire the 2x12 in series for a 16 ohm cab and then connect to the parallel input for a load around 5.3 ohms and set the selector to 4 ohms? To clarify, the amp I am using is an old Fender 100watt 6l6 guitar combo made into a head and I'm only just able to get away with it live with the help of the 15" kappalite cab I have, so adding the kappalite 2x12's is something I'm eager to do. My question is would the amp respond differently operating at 12 as opposed to 5 ohms ?
4. Not sure about rules and regulations but here is his Facebook page ( also has a website ) that's my V4 combo in the pics. He works from home and is an honest fella, Cheers. https://www.facebook.com/JbAmpRepairs
5. Amp is back and fixed, new tube socket. Very happy with tech, very quick and inexpensive, would recommend to anyone in the Bournemouth Poole area, thanks again for the suggestions
6. Yeah, I followed the biasing instructions, this model has an adjust on the back panel, hoping your'e right and it's something small. I wasn't about to go looking around inside, my knowledge goes about as far as changing fuses. Thanks for the replies
7. Forgot to mention I called Trace, and although very friendly could not offer any suggestions.
8. I own a Trace Elliot V4 1x15 combo, the later version with many preamp valves and the magic eye. Anyway about a month ago was about to play a gig when one of the four KT88's (Ruby) went blue and blew one of the power valve fuses. During the next week I replaced all of the valves with NOS (80's?) Sovtek KT88s. I replaced both of the valve fuses. Power comes on but NO SOUND. After advice from other sites and fellow owners I replaced both of the main fuses, (located inside) and the two fuses (6 in all !) under the mains input. I also replaced all of the ECC83's with known working ones (each checked in a Super Champ). STILL NO SOUND. The speaker is connected, it is an Eminence Legend, lightly used. I have since taken the combo to a tech who is taking a long time to fix it, meanwhile I am sitting here thinking A) Does this bloke know what he is doing B)Maybe I could have diagnosed it myself. So my questions are, would a faulty EM 84 valve cause no sound? (surely not as it's an indicator) , what are the chance of a less than year old Emi Legend blowing and causing no sound ? Has anyone else experienced complete loss of sound in this model or similar ? I should mention, I biased the new power tubes, The EM 84 is lighting up white (should be green). All of the valves, pre and power have glowing filaments. The power valve fuses are fine, there are no signs of excessive heat problems, the fan is working, and the amp turns on as normal (power is going through). Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. Cheers.
