  1. Been transcribing my average fretless lines, so one day I can publish my meh mwahs.

You mean practice as in regularly buying equipment, of course?

The musicians I admired all regularly practiced and I am embarrassed to say it took me almost 3 decades to work out why they were better! I do at least an hour a day these days and my playing has skyrocketed. I'm not sure it has fixed my desire for new gear though...

  3. Basschat Fantasy Premier League code is: ww1o97

    See you there!

  4. First post-lockdown gig next week! Over a year since our last one...

How did you manage to play a post-lockdown gig a year ago?

I think we should be told ...

It's easy when you're a prison band. Now if you'll excuse me, Spider Murphy apparently has a breakout planned with the Purple Gang...

  5. Top confidence booster: open your front door and noodle loudly for one minute at 7.59pm every Thursday.

I can't think of anything appropriate as a set piece though.  Summat rousing at eight to the bar perhaps?  I'd do sixteenths but I can't sustain them much above 90 bpm.

I was thinking of doing this very thing on Thursday. My nieces have been egging me on on WhatsApp

I too am having trouble thinking of something suitable though. Mr Pink doesn't feel like it would fit the bill somehow

As long as it isn't the colour of Angel Delight.  Disgusting stuff!  Don''t remind me of it.

  8. Playing 5-a-side tonight. Head height rule applies so I'll bring my low-pass filter....

Don't forget that NBD thread... with photos, of course
I was really tempted by a medium scale Jake a few years back on here.
These days, given my advancing years, I now realise the importance of lightweight basses ;)

Same here Marc! And I see a 7.5 lbs Jake 5 has just appeared here: http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/SH_Maruszczyk_Jake_5.html

  10. Still buzzing from Vulfpeck live last night - and yes, Joe was playing the new EBMM to within an inch of its life! Amazing band!

Oh man, I'm green as hell about that........  I wish I'd known earlier they were playing.

      What an outfit they are.......!!

They had 150 tickets still left as of two days ago.  I hope they come back soon.

  11. Just fixed my old Fender Rumble 150! Had to swap the input socket for the headphone socket because I couldn't source a new one...and use A500K pots because I couldn't find the exact A250Ks needed. A doddle to solder, but a nightmare to get the head back in the cab....!

  12. Love the Bruce Thomas Profile bass! Really lively P, feels very comfortable in hand, and a fantastic bargain - you even get a signed book from the man himself :)

Look good! What width is the nut on these?

Edit: Ignore my last. Blurb says between a P and a J so not what I'm looking for. The Rhythm Stick however, that's a different story...

Not sure if we need to hear the rhythm stick story...

If you're not used to it, take the low B off to begin with and play your regular material with it first. Think of it like a 4+1 rather than a 5'er to begin with. :)

    4. Kevsy71

      Kevsy71

Cheers Chunky - actually it's gojng better than I thought! What works for me is to play familiar lines whilst looking at my right hand to better gauge the string spacing. It's a lovely budget 2nd hand Ibanez SRX505, only issue is the string spacing is quite narrow for me (7mm at nut) .
