1. I took the plunge to IEM to save my back from all the heavy gear and to reduce my footprint on the stage, so I would wish for a lightweight, small enclosure amp that is easy to carry. I'm not sure if I think the looks are important, because I am not yet certain if I would place it in on the floor right next to the board, where it would be preferable with some good looks, or if I would hide it away in the back along with the IEM rack. It would definitely be an advantage if it can be rack mounted.
2. That looks really cool! I am interested.
3.
I can 100% guarantee the wireless latency aspect is not the problem. The latency on analogue wireless is negligible so I can assure you it's nothing to do with the wireless system you mention - latency on that ew300 runs at about one tenth of a millisecond. Nobody's brain is that sensitive to pick up on that sort of latency. As mentioned in the thread numerous times, latency is the reason that digital inears (at least the wireless transmission aspect of it) is not common place. Out of interest, was the desk the same with the wired setup? Did you literally swap the wireless out for wired on exactly the same setup at the same time and place? Are you running the gain too hot into the ew300? If you slam the front end, it will compress heavily and not sound great - but the screen on the unit should be illuminating red to tell you this. If you gain structure is wrong, it will sound pretty awful. I can understand it more if you were going through a load of fx which introduces latency along the line. What about the singer's mic? Is that wireless - and more importantly, is it digital? If so, what is it? I've used a qu 24 with ew300s and psm200s and psm900s. I can guarantee it's not the wireless (assuming that there is nothing wrong with your unit). In fact, I've used ew300s g2 with behringer units and mackie digital units also - again, zero problems. I don't think that it's unusual that a set of IEMs can be driven off an aux - the fischer passive solutions rely on you having a large output on the aux for you to then effectively cut using a pot on a passive belt pack. The downside if the that the impedance matching is not great - if you've bought a set of decent inears, why wouldn't you want to get the best out of them?
That is great news. My conclusion is not really based on anything but stupid intuition. I will try some more adjustments with the gain structure and levels of the mix. I simply used the headphone port on the front of the ew300 transmitter. The mic is wired and the only processing is reverb.
4. Regarding our bands recent issues with the lead singer not liking singing with IEMs. I followed all of your advices here and I got some advice elsewhere. What made the difference was 1. Using a wired solution instead of wireless. So this brings us to a new issue. The big problem was apparently delay that created some kind of occlusion effect that made his vocal feel distant and vague. But how do we reduce this latency with wireless? He would hate to have a cable running behind his feet all the time. The latency troubled setup is still : A&H qu 16 digital mixer console Sennheiser ew 300 g2 wireless The wired solution is just straight from mixer aux into headphones. Yes, the aux out can actually drive a pair of IEMs!
5. The whole band is present in the mix. The mixer is a digital A&H QU-16 into Sennheiser EW300 g2 wireless transmitters. There is a limiter on the receiver, so that could be it. I will check it out. However this is only an issue on his IEM setup if that is the case, the rest of us have no issues with the volume.
6. Our singer cant seem to adjust. As soon as he starts singing, all the sound gets shut out and comes back when he stops singing. He is using the universal Shure SE215. Do you know of any technique we can use, so he can hear the rest of the band in the iems, when he is singing? Are any of you guys singing with your iems and are you having the same issues? The setup is right and the IEMS are playing fine simultaneously with his singing. We think the ears might be clenching together and blocking the ear canal during singing, or the inside voice is louder than the iems. It's frustrating because he is the only one still using wedges and he is always complaining about ear pain. The rest of us are all using iems.
7. I use a A&H QU16 desk. I reckon you had or even still has the same desk? The cheap shure universal iems are a good match with that desk because you can equalize entire monitor channels. After i boost especially the low frequencies in the shure iems, the sound quality becomes quite decent. I'm still really looking forward to trying some quality CIEMs though. The Thomann snake is a budget item for sure, but I think it's very good value for money. The plugs sit tight and unlocks easily when you unplug, unlike other budget XLRs i've tried before, which was a pain to unplug. I will see within the next year if it's durable enough for gigging. I hope I dont have to resolder all the time.
8. I've have been lurking this awesome thread for long, it inspired me and my band to take the IEM plunge. Stereo is mind blowing. Right now we use the budget shure universals while we wait for the next 64 audio CIEM sale.
9.
I think that would had been a better name considering it is being promoted with the Classic cabs.
I personally love tossing the name Reidmar around. Owning an amp named Reidmar makes me feel like a viking playing bass
10. Heres the pictures of the components inside Reidmar, as i promised. Please do report if any of you tech savys reckonize the components amp sections used. I haven't screwn it back together yet, so please let me know if you need a closer look on certain sections so that i wont have to open the amp again. 11. Start doing wrist exercises, it will ease the pain. I have the issue myself in periods where I play alot, but after a trip to a Chiropractic I had him show me some good exercises to do regularly every day. The exercises are very simple and after a while you get used to do them every time you're bored. I'm sure theres many examples on youtube and likewise. Also, it's worth mentioning that if you dont start doing exercises to counter the wrist pain, you will eventually damage your wrist, which in the worst case may cause chronic pain. So to sum it up, if you want to continue being a musician and be able to play your instrument, start doing exercises now.
12. Also my experience, and i had the EXACT same feeling of compressed sound with a Little Mark II i once had.
13.
A picture would surely help. Ceramic drivers are easily identifiable... Thanks. In several other forums I´ve also asked if anybody ever looked inside the reidmar to see which power module is actually implanted in this beauty to clear up the whole wattage discussion. Nobody dared open it and take a picture. I am soooo curious My bet is, there is a ASX125 module from B&O, just as anybody else is using. This way, the rating would make complete sense for me, as the ASX125 can only theoretically deliver 500 watts...it´s 125w stereo at 4Ohms, 500 peak(!) bridged at 4 Ohms... Thanks in advance.
I've had it opened, i was also very curious to see what was inside. I had no idea what the components meant though, but I could take some pictures of the inside of my Reidmar if youd like?
14. The video is a little blurred, but i'm pretty sure it's Pino Palodino. Fantastic bass player indeed!
15. I really wish EBS would make an AMP bag for the Reidmar. I hate having to babysit my amp each time i gig. Is anyone here familiar with an existing amp bag that fits with the Reidmar's dimensions?
