1. I like your pickguard more than the stock one. I'm skeptical about neck pickups on basses, if I was making a new pickguard for this bass I would rout both body & pickguard for the Jazz pickup to the edge of the guard so it will be closer to the MM pickup. I'm guessing it would be more useful and closer to a stock Jazz.
2. I have been playing guitar for 22 years and I always liked the bass. I finally decided to buy one and once I got the Jazz I wanted more. Both basses are stock, I bought them used in excellent condition. The Fender heads and Orange cab sound great for guitar, for bass I prefer the AER. The little amp brings out the unique character of every bass. 2000 Fender American Series Jazz Bass 1985 Westone Thunder I-A Bass AER Amp One
3. When they started putting graphite rods in their necks? My 2000 Jazz has them.
4. Sandberg is an interesting company. I like how many options are availiable for the customer and their pricing is good. I read they have very thin necks, can you confirm this guys?
5. I have this http://www.thomann.de/gr/thomann_premium_gigbag_e_bass_br.htm and it's very good.It has 30mm high density industrial padding which is more than most gig bags and like the description says it's very firm! Very good for the price they sell it.
6. The foundations of an instrument are the body & neck, I believe they should be of a very good quality. You can start with cheap pickups/electronics and update later but the body & neck will stay with you. Part guitars don't hold their value in the used market so you'd better be sure what you want and order the best you can afford. Warmoth, USACG and Status (for necks) all have quality parts. Warmoth even have the showcase where you can save money with ready to go parts.
7. I have my 1985 Westone Thunder I-A for over a week and I'm very impressed. It is in near mint condition, completely stock and everything work as it should be. Both passive and active sounds are useful and it's easy to play. I really didn't expect this quality, I'm going to leave it stock as it is. I'm wondering if anyone has done an A-B test with a Fender Precision, it would be interesting to read your opinion.
8.
Hi Merc.......I was wondering how does it sound the Amp One with the fingers. With the pick it sounds great!......It's a 10'' not a 12''. And....don't you miss the tweeter? cheers
The Amp One is a very versatile amp, sounds great with fingers or a pick. I don't think you'll miss the tweeter, the EQ will give you many different sounds. If you can afford it you can't go wrong.
9. I'm very impressed. Congrats to Ritter for making unique instruments.
10. I just bought a Westone 1A Thunder and I'm waiting to arrive. I have a Jazz and I wanted to try the precision sound but also a bass with a wider nut. Do you know the nut size of the Westone?
11. According to this thread http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/slightly-different-jazz-bass-build-827735/ you will need a custom pickguard for your Jazz bass if you want the P pickup to be in the same position like in your Precision. This thread is helpful if you have decided to rout your Jazz.
12. If you know what you want it's a great option otherwise any parts instrument will have a low resale value in the used market. I have three Warmoth guitars made to my specs and I like ém a lot. An experienced luthier will turn a good bass into a great bass, if you don't have experience with assembling & setup find a luthier to do it. Read their site, pay attention to the neck options and look in the showcase for ready to ship necks in a lower price.
