1. I believe you but your push pull pots haven't been added by RIC.Definitely:-)
2. Thank you PROWLA for advices everything is done already.I post the results above..And no it hasn't got Vintage tone selector they started to add them in 2006.
3. Hi again. FINALLY I have results..so: 1.THE BENT TUNER - I immediately gave up to write to RIC - overseas customers mean NOTHING to them..I wrote to Schaller, quite nice people, quick responding. They sell the tuner here: https://schaller.info/en/machine-heads/287/bass-bm?number=10250401.26.71&c=53 Firstly I tried to strighten the original tuner by myslef.I used "bench vise?" to strighten it.I did it simply..Fixed the "wing" in it and strightened the "leg" with hand...slowly and carefully.I posted a photo. 2.THE FOAM-I cut it "longwise?".Now it no longer touches the strings.Anyway I don t need it at all.. BTW I don't understand WHY is metal plate bent...See photo. It causes the foam muted the strings. 3.Thank you for truss rod adjusting advices.I adjusted only slightly 1/6 of a round and after 3 hours another 1/6 of a round. On another day I put the strings. I am adding 3 photos and 2 videos that I made and uploaded on YT. I THANK YOU ALL FOR THE ADVICES AND VERY NICE COMMNETS.Jan
4. Hi guys I THANK YOU ALL A LOT! I posted it only yesterday and got so many advices! I appreciate much-indeed. Of course I know what the big screws adjusting foam height are for..The problem is the strings are horribly high /the neck is a bit bow-haven t been adjusted for years and with Rotos on...The seller plays jazz and hadn t been using Rick for years. As you know Rick bridge is...OK I will be polite:-)./I few days ago I got Hipshot from USA for my lefty Fireglo 2004 maybe when I have money /it cost me 244 euro including import taxes/ maybe I will purchase black one for this blue beauty.../ There is not much space to adjust ANYTHING and when I lowered strings at max they touched the foam and muted... So I will definitely remove the foam tomorrow I am going to instatll new Rotos Swing 66 45-105 and I guess I will be able to remove the foam without dismounting the bridge. Strightening the tuner is really a question.Thank you all for advices especially PaulThePlug I will definitely write to Schaller /no import taxes/ and i fthery won t help then to RIC people who unfortunately DO NOT sell anYthing outside USA and Canada. And last solution could be ezbass advice-to warm tuner up before doing anything and then very slowly to straighten. And of course I thank to all for truss rod adjustment advices. As I wrote I did it already but years ago..I have the right tool I bought it for appr 5-7 euros /yes!/ is special tool store it is nonsense that RIC doesn t include this with its products... So thank you all again and when it all is done I will let you know and post photos. Jan
5. Hello guys I haven' t been there for a long time...A few days ago I purchased beautiful /midnight?/ blue Rick 4003 February 1997./photos/. I would have a few questions: 1.The most important: E tuner is bent-see last photo. It is quite easy to fix -straighten?- it but I am not sure if it could break...It would be disaster..It works perfectly it's only a matter of look. 2.There is a foam to mute strings which I am not going to use.Do I have to unscrew the entire bridge or use a razor to cut out it? 3.The truss rod needs adjusting I did it appr 8 years ago /its my 2nd Rick/ I don' remember how I did it, it's quite easy I would say but RIC manual recommend only 1/4 of round once a time do I have to wait some time/minutes-hours?/ between each adjustment or can I do the whole job within a minutes?Without strings of course... 4.On the photo you can see huge Acoustic 201 300W GUITAR cabinet cca 1972 eq. with 2x 15inch CTS speakers and horn /switchable/. I use it for bass too in my apartment only - not more than 15-20watts putting into it.Can I damage the speakers?I seldom set bass more than 1 o' clock position.I guess not but I am not expert.Mainly I use ACC 126 bass combo /photo/ but I like ACC 201 sound better. Thank you for an advices Jan Slovakia I am putting 7 photos here the Rick is very rare I think black binding and lefty...And beautiful color./Which blue exactly is it?/I bought it on Arni's /great guy/ leftybass site from very nice German bassist. He told me /and sent photo/ that E tuner was OK when packing...I believe him. A few info on gear you can see-some might be interested...From the left: Czechoslovakia/Slovakia/ TESLA /Tesla Vrable/ 40W tube amp 1968 NOT designed for instruments mainly for use at schools etc..Microphone input moded for 100mV believe or not it sounds ALMOST like 1000€ Fender bassman.I paid 85€ for it...Unbelievable.It stands on ACC 126 bass combo 120W 1981. On the right there is mentioned ACC 201 300W guitar cabinet with awesome famous ACC 260 "Doors" amp on it/it's guitar amp but bass and keys sounds beautiful too/ and on it you can see British HH IC 100/Bolan, Waters, John Deacon too?/ as you all surely know it very well and GED 2112 preamp. And very rare today Marshall 4145 4x10 100W guitar combo 1979 /Rush, SRV/ .BTW small Marlboro box is NOT cigarettes but rare old transistor radio, MW broadcasting ended a few years ago...
6. I apologize for late respond..thanks for your words! best Wishws too jan
7. Very nice amp I love all old acc products.I have got model 126 100w combo.
8. Fantastic! These MUST be LOOOOUD:-) Thank you the pics are in my comp already
9. Hi Frank ň I thank you A LOT! Your answers really helped.Could you send me some pics of your ACC gear?I collect everything related to ACC.Thanks again and cheers Jan One another pic...
10. Hi all greetings from Slovakia. A month ago I bought ACOUSTIC MODEL 126 /100W/ bass combo, I am extremely happy I`ve wanted some ACC gear for years, since I was student/Early 80s../. It seems ACC stuff is very, maybe extremely rare in EU today, almost impossible to find. Mine is made in March 1981 in very nice, visually I would say in TOP condition, /working almost 100% I will say later/. I`m going to do full review of this on YT in a few weeks, including detailed photos and video of opened amp.BTW according to the sticker above the power switch, the combo was sold propably new at a shop in Vienna, I bought it used of course./I found 2 photos the shop no longer exist .../ So I would have a few questinos on ACC. I put this topic on Talkbass some days ago I got some answers but still need some info.I will appreciate ANY respond-thanks. 1.There is "Power Boost" switch, which isn`t working, what is it for?Does it add only more volume or some distortion?Actually I don`t need it I play only in my apartment with friend using volume max at 1./neighbours/.Does anyone have a sound clip?PB on/off... 2.EQ/70Hz pot isn`t working too.I think I don`t need it I can get enough bass from 15inch speaker but I am curious why...As I mentioned above, I took out amplifier and inspected all wires, all conections seem to be perfect I would say untouched,/but I am not expert at all/.I can turn on/off the Eq with footswitch /DIY but woks well/. Except these 2 issues the combo works beautifully I wouldn`sell it for any money. All pots work great, BRIGHT switch, wchich I love, works too.My LH Rick 2004 and LH Fender 62 RI MIJ 1994-5 sound amazing. 3.On the back there is :BREAKS PREAMP CONNECTION below preamp out/power amp in. What does it mean?Is it only a different name for effect loop or is there any special possibility to connect something?/Maybe my English is not good enough to understand this clearly.../. 4.The amp has two inputs passive/active can I use them both simultaneously without damaging something?/For example drum machine.Or is it better to connect to POWER AMP IN?I mean bass in input 1 and SOMETHING to power amp in./I got an advice from Talkbass nOT to use it this way/. 5.I`m looking for Owners Manual has someone got it?I`d love to have original /printed/ I would pay for it of course, or if someone could send me pdf. I have got enough pdf docs from unofficial ACC site but they are all schematics I wasn`t able to find any OM. I`m HUGE ACC products enthusiast if someone has original owner manuals, catalogs/I have 1978 and 1980/, I would buy them, or I can offer some interesting HI-FI and video catalogs from 1981-2005. 6.How rare is ACC gear in UK? I regularly watch ebay and always see only few of them always USA sellers. Thanks in advance Jan.
11. Thanks for reply, but I live in Slovakia and there is no Ashdown official service, that is why I need some advice on this forum.I will have to contact some local repairman.Maybe I will contact Ashdown Engineering too but postage to UK and price for repairing could be pretty expensive... And the amp is 2011 made I bought it used /almost new but used/ so there is no warranty.
12. Hi friends I have a problem with my ASHDOWN MIBASS 220.I use it along with two Orange Crush 35B boxes, they are combos as you know...the lower is without amp which I sold the upper one is regular combo./See my profiIe pic/. I have soldered speaker cables directly to speakers, so this is very versatile stack because I can use the upper unit both ways.As a combo and as a box.Of course, the main plug MUST BE DISCONNECTED and the combo switched off BEFORE I connect speaker cable to amp. And this is where my problem started. A week ago I played through combo and being interrupted by phone call I completely forgot that the plug is STILL connected to mains and later, intending to use Ashdown I TURNED IT ON.And disaster was here.I could smell some electricity fire and no sound from the speakers./Of course... /. Now the amp behaves this: The entire preamp works perfectly including mp3 input and mp3 volume, including all inputs and outputs and master volume works perfectly too.So the MiBass can be used as preamp or practicing unit with headphones, but power amp isn`t working. And strange thing is , when the amp is turned on I can hear usual POP from the speakers and turning the gain and volume full on I can even hear very very silent bass tone from my bass. So...if you have ANY suggestions where the problem could be I would appreciate it MUCH.Iam not going to repair it by myself Iam not able to, but your advice could be very helpful to some repairman to whom I am intended to bring the amp. And if someone could provide schematics diagram /I`ve been searching the internet for a few days not able to find any/ it could be great. Thanks in advance for any advice/help.
13. No I cannot agree, Rickenbacker has single coils and Fender behaves as humbucker using both pups. When using only one pup on Fender, I have this buzz. But thanks for reply. I should mention that I had ppr. 10 basses and all produced a lot of buzz only Peavey T-40 played as humbucker/can be played both ways/ and the Fender both pups engaged were silent. It seems my flat is noisy area.
14. I am RH man not able playing as RH so I have to play as lefty. My very first bass was beautiful PEAVEY T-40 , of course RH/no LH have been made/ which I played flipped. Then I sold it to one of BCH members /he was very happy / - and STILL regret.Fantastic bass. My second bass was Rickenbacker 4003 2011 RH/played flipped /you can find video on Tube/. Then I FINALLY was able to buy Rickenbacker 2004 LH from a nice guy from UK. I still have Jolana D bass, Rick copy /you can see it on my profile pic/ now equipped with genuine Rickenbacker bridge HiGain 4003 pup, and sometimes play it flipped/.
15. Hi guys I haven` t been there for a long time...I have a problem that many of us have.Since I have started playing bass/March 2011/, I had and still have horrible buzz from all basses and all gear I have had so far.I guess it is 60cycle buzz.I play only in my apartment for myself. I mainly play Rickenbacker 2004 LH with Hi Gain, pretty noisy pups, recently I bought fantastic Japan Fender JB 62 RI LH , which is almost silent, using both pups. So I REALLY need some advice, I can spent max 100€ for some noise suppressor, there are quite a lot videos on Tube but all for guitars. After watching the vids I am thinking of buying one of these: 1.ROCKTRON HUSH THE PEDAL - 84€ 2. ELECTRO HARMONIX SILENCER - friendly price 59€ 3.BOSS NS 2 - 84€ /not sure if it cuts off sustain.../. Of course propably ISP DECIMATOR and DECIMATOR G STRING would be the best but ...160/260€... I LOVE beautiful sustain of my RICK and I am a bit afraid whether I can lost part of it using one of these. My favourite would be ROCKTRON a guy reviewing it on Tube says that it is NOT NOISE GATE, so removes buzz during playing too. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks Jan.
16. Only a dream, as they have never been produced...RICKENBACKER 4080 LEFTY and PEAVEY T-40 LEFTY...:-) And...IBANEZ JB SILVER SERIES with black square inlays..LEFTY..Have ever you seen any? / Ibanez../
17. Hi thanks alot fo rthis email I will definitely write to the man...Thanks!Jan
18. Yes it is pretty heavy..But sounds beautiful...
19. I THANK YOU A LOT AGAIN GUYS...
20. Hi OF COURSE it helped A LOT!!!Thanks you A LOT too .BTW I don`t understand this"150w versions like yours will not drive an external speaker as the internal speaker is 4 ohms however the 300w models will. " There is output /socket/ for additional speaker.I don`t need it my neigbours would kill me it`s just curiosity...
21. HI to all I bought TE GP7 SM 150W a few days ago and LOVE it. I love how it looks and like MUCH how it plays. To me, TE is almost unknown brand so I`ve read the all info I found I know the whole ESSEX KAMAN GIBSON PEAVEY story but I would have a few questions. I am SURE people in UK will have the right answers and THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE. So ...1.Does ANY instruction manual for the EXACT model exist? I downloaded a few very useful PDFs and propably got all the info needed but NOT for THIS model...Of course I can use the combo without any info I am just curious... 2.I`ve read several times that during GIBSON era /1998-2004-5?/ the quality went down BUT also that GIBSON was only selling leftovers and all the stuff was made by THE SAME PEOPLE AT THE SAME PLACE AND THE SAME QUALITY So...how it was? 3.I am including some photos could you tell me which year is my combo made in?/I suppose 2001 but not sure../. 4.The combo does not have headphones output is there any way to find some headphone preamplifier and connect to LINE OUT? Thanks a lot again Jan
22. Thank you a LOT David I will send you PM... I have to repeat.. the Chinese strings play BETTER /for me/than famous brands I`ve tried...BTW you`re STILL selling beautiful basses on probass.Thank you again Regards Jan
23. No it is custom made cost me 30€ made by luthier in my hometown.
24. Hi to all Here is my lefthanded Retrovibe RV4 according to David, only eight LH exist...Now only 7 . I bought it here on BCH in january 2012 and LOVE it. A few weeks ago I modded it with genuine, new unused Rick HiGains with adjustable poles and new Rick electronics , including Vintage tone selector and put also black PG. The bass sounds simply INCREDIBLE, I liked the old version too, but NOW it sounds maybe better than original./I have LH Fireglo 2004/. I will make a video on tube in a few weeks. BEFORE: NOW: I have one problem...I bought the bass with original strings which sound fantastic. But the seller wasn` t able to tell me what brand they are. I tried several brands Fodera, Fender ...but NONE could give the sound as originals.I guess they can be some cheap no name strings but have fantastic sustain and the bass sounds amazing... So the strings are several years old and of course won`t last forever.Could someone give me information WHAT STRINGS ARE THEY?Again...original strings Retrovibe RV4 was selling with..THANKS ANYONE FOR an ADVICE Jan OF COURSE THE BASS IS N O T FOR SALE THANKS.
