Are the synth bass parts synths or are you using cunning effects and playing both parts? Rather Jealous as I love P's and 71 is my Y.O.B.

  4. Thinking of selling the neck from my VM 70’s P bass (maple board) and replacing it with a maple J neck. Hit me up if anyone wants to trade. 😊

There's a seller on ebay selling amber tinted black block maple Jazz necks for about £40 - just got one for a Jazz bitser and it was pretty decent quality (that way if you decide to move you'r P on, you can stick the original neck back on it) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203347780016

I grew up in Coventry in the 70s and 80's surrounded literaly by 2Tone/Ska. Loved listening to it but never learned any as I drifted into classic rock, metal and punk. Then one day a few months ago I had a mad fit and decided to learn some Specials basslines (Gangsters/Too Much Too Young/A Message to you Rudy). Best fun Ive had on a four string ever.

  8. Bugger; just found out that a friend from my previous job died today. She was in ICU with Covid for a few weeks, and was even posting from there a few days ago, but didn’t make it out.

I’ve known her for ten years. She was funny, kind and leaves 2 young kids (7 and 4), as well as her poor husband.
I’ve said it before, but this year can do one.

T he next dumb sod who starts spouting Covid is a hoax, I swear I will smack them in the teeth. So sorry matey, wife works on a "Red" ward so she has seen this a good few times. Heartbreaking for you loosing a friend and for her family (as a dad that bit hits me hard)

  9. After months of mucking about on guitar because it was more interesting, I picked up one of my basses this evening and played.  It was so much more satisfying.  I'll always be a bass player.

After a visit to an old friends house and playing with his rather nice collection (Fenders, Gretsch's, Jacksons and a Brian May Red Special) I ended up tempted and got an Epiphone Les Paul Trad Pro 2 and a Gothic Epiphone SG. Its fun to bang out a few AC/DC chords. Doubt it will go to performance stage though - started on bass, and an old dog only learns so many new tricks.

Are these any good? There is the usual moaning on Talkbass about them - I had persuaded my friend to sell me his retired SVT 3 Pro for a good price, but looking into this it could be just what I need (I run a Royal Blood type  set-up, so the "fake guitar" could run through the second channel with different EQ to the Bass side - would save me carting two rigs around). Cant buy both sadly.

  12. There's a gig tonight in a park next to my office. They're sound checking at the moment. 20 mins for a drum check, 10 mins for guitar, 10 mins for keys. about 45 seconds for bass... Now on to vocals. Turns out it's Sister Sledge... Time to put my iPod on...
