Never realised just how wrongly I played "Merry Xmas Everybody" by Slade until I charted it out just now

The latest Coke TV ad uses a new version of Willie Dixon's "I Just Want To Make Love To You" recorded by Joséphine de la Baume. It is so bad, it makes me wish I hadn't bothered cleaning my ears out. It's straight in at #2 with a bullet on my 'Things That Make Me Scramble For The TV Mute Button' list (the #1 spot is permanently occupied by the Marc Jacobs 'Daisydaisydaisydaisy' advert).

I don't know why they do it. I suppose it could be a negative reinforcement thing - I would rant at the telly whenever that Tui ad came on with the feckless, insipid, breathy cod-swing version of Chaka Khan's glorious "Ain't Nobody", but the upshot of my ire is that I will never book a holiday with Tui. Ever. But then it was fairly unlikely I would have done before they pushed my blood pressure up several notches...

So it's going to take a while because I've agreed with Andy Baxter to wait with shipping until after New Year's (to prevent pointless storage in transit) but this absolutely gorgeous 44-60 with Fralin pickups is coming my way. Can't wait.

Was scammed yesterday; I've been looking for a Danelectro 59 single cut for a while now. Got a message from someone who sold one, living 2 hours away, for a decent price. So I got in my car, drove for over 2 hours (darn traffic) and the person nor the bass existed.

My therapist told me "write letters to the people you hate and then burn them".
Did that, but now I don't know what to do with the letters.

Does anyone know of a Wal-like LPDF filters out there which use three stacked controls rather than four (separate vol/pan)? I'm talking to Lustihand at the moment but their solution doesn't use a pan, just two volumes. I'm wondering if there are other options out there which include a pan.

Hi Lowregisterhead - did you sell your Synapse 5? I have a four string but no idea of its value. Maybe that’s a bit of a moving target though?

My stepson has just tested positive, 8 days before he was due to leave for his fortnight's holiday in the Maldives. They've been looking forward to it for literally years. Gutted is an understatement.

This is a bit of a nuisance:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/shoulder-impingement-syndrome/
A couple of gigs are lined up for December as well. I could play BG, but have been asked specifically because I can play DB and I'd guess it's that which has caused the problem.
-
I had it a while ago, which was both painful and incapacitating. It did ease off substantially with regular exercise prescribed by a physio. My shoulder now clunks when I move it around, but at least it doesn't hurt! See your GP, get some physio, do the daily exercises, and you should be fine. Perhaps not in time for your December gigs though, unfortunately...

1st ding in a relatively recently received bass Small crack in the paintwork and a small dent, no chips thankfully and pretty minor but surprised how easily Fenders paintwork cracks

New job - yay!
Hearing aids - boo!

That disappointing moment when a name bassist whom you befriended and greatly admired chooses to belittle you on Farcebook when you take issue with their alarmist vaxx-skeptic views.
Closing that door with a heavy heart.
-
Been there, and it can be discouraging, but the individual has shown themselves not to be worthy of your admiration. Putting aside the issue that caused the disagreement, the person is clearly an arrogant, thoughtless, self-regarding muppet. The fact they happen to be a bass player of note to some is irrelevant. You're the real hero for stepping up and challenging their dangerous, half-baked theories.

Oh no.....I had my Lakland DJ5 set up properly, and now I don't want to sell it!! 😅

For the last 3 months, at least an hour a day, I’ve played my Fender/Status fretless/flatwounds exclusively. I’ve just picked up a fretted bass with roundwounds on. This feels weird, the strings are so rough 😂
-
My first bass had tapewounds on it, which I played for months, knowing no better. Then a friend gave me his bass with roundwounds on to try. I really didn't like it! Shortly after that I broke the G on my own bass, and the only singles the local music shop had were Rotosound Swing Bass, so I stuck one of those on. Plonk, plonk, plonk, zzzziiiiinnnnng! I slowly converted, a string at a time! 🙂

Coming to the realisation that for every hobby I have, about 75% of my actual enjoyment comes from learning about the equipment and getting my nerd on

CoronaVirus Gear Sale? - How many of you are considering or are already selling bass gear because of financial losses incurred by not being able to work?
-
Like Old Horse Murphy, the financial impact hasn't properly arrived for me yet, but I've been trying to shift some stuff I don't really need in preparation for that eventuality.
Oddly enough, a couple of lower priced basses that I've had listed for a while sold this past week. Undoubtedly more people are online because they're at home, and for now at least, it seems like a modest comfort purchase is still acceptable as a result. I'm not sure it'll stay that way the further down the road we go with the crisis though, once money gets tighter.

Found a picture of my old bass and now I want it back...I know who has it.
Bugger.

Shock admissions - 2 of 'em. Just caught The Motors 'Airport' on radio 2 (that's the 2 admissions).
What an excellent bass track -well thought out, tasteful, drives the song along - in fact it is the song. Bass is really forward in mix and take it away, the track would collapse.
Well, there we go then
