The influence of the fretboard is profound. Far more than I would have given credence to a few years ago.

It's why Smith basses have relatively soft woods in the neck but a sodding great slab of ebony for the fingerboard.  The neck is just stiff enough rather than as stiff as it can be.  I've encountered the same effect in a guitar with the softest maple and mahogany laminates in the neck but an ebony board for preserving rigidity.

I'm fond of ebony fingerboards because they can be dressed to very fine tolerances and are tonally neutral.  They seem to affect high end frequencies that are beyond what most of us need in a bass.

Think i might be a tad upset / angry at that one if i'm perfectly honest. Wouldn't have minded if i was 30mins along the road but 4hrs drive each way for a 20min slot plus all the annoyance of watching others over-run. Person in charge should do what i've witnessed at varied band shows and when their time is up he mutes the PA at the end of the song they are on. Job done.

Its all very well getting paid same amount but you set yourself up for a 90 min show to get 20 mins worth. AAAAAHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!!  :dash1:

We had a gig at the Duxford Air Museum once.  We travelled there from London, arrived early for setting up and sound check.  It was magnificient, the stage was partially under the wing of Concorde.   I checked out their Vulcan bomber XJ824 while waiting.  About an hour before kick off, it started snowing outside and we were put on alert that they were reviewing the event on H&S grounds.  About 15 minutes before we were due to kick off, they cancelled the event.   We were on stage waiting to hit that first note and then had to pack up and get back to London before any roads were closed.  We did got paid but it was a shame.

NB: Not technically a gig "last night".

Happy to be here, back to being active again!. (Mamayo is the name of my record label and 1st album), I'm here to talk bass and share my music as well as help anyone out who might have questions I might be able to answer - and to find answers to my own questions from all the wisdom here (bass players are the wisest band members, it goes with the instrument ;) ).

Hey Yolanda - welcome back. 😉

Yes, this one has a graphite through neck, it's the headed version of mine.  I've been searching for a specific white one like yours for about 5 years which Bass Direct had for sale.  They have 15mm string spacing which feels perfect.  I've installed Barts and an East preamp in mine to free up a bit more warmth and mids.

Not on that bass you can’t (Status S1) but knock yourself out with this one (beaten up FPPR S1 that SEBB attendees from years ago will remember Barney had for sale for years

Any pics? Do they have graphite necks?  I'm wondering how close they both might be to mine.

    Kiwi is on the case!

Thank you.  As much as I would love to be cast as the hero, I'm feeling seriously pissed off frustrated that things aren't turning out in the way they were supposed to.  It's not due to a lack of care on my part, this is why I wanted to trial things rather than impose a change.  I'm feeling pretty grateful that everyone has offered constructive feedback and some understanding.

  7. Wel either the plug in isn't working, or Ezoic isn't recognising the cookies or there are browser issues but one way or another, it's not acceptable.  I have no desire to erode the trust and goodwill within this community.

  8. Hi everyone,

We've had a Q&A sub forum with Ezoic up for a week now with only one question so on the assumption that this means no major concerns, I'm going to restart the ad trial for lurkers.  But from Wednesday onwards you'll notice a pop up from Ezoic appearing even though you aren't seeing ads.  Please don't be alarmed - it's a one-time thing for every browser and it's about compliance with the GDPR, not about seeking permissions by stealth.  Jack @dewww has assured me that Ezoic don't mine data and sell it off to third parties on the sly.

If you still have lingering doubts then, as I've mentioned previously in this thread, an Ad blocker will provide the best peace of mind for you if one isn't already installed in your browser.  Feel free to drop me a message if you aren't sure how to install one and I'll try to help.  The process will depend on which browser you have.

  9. Hi everyone, I would like to provide some follow up on the Ezoic pop up that appeared a couple of weeks ago.   You'll recall that I was starting a trial for third party advertising with our new partner Ezoic and a pop up appeared, asking for some permissions that were inappropriate.

Firstly I understand that the pop up caused some alarm and in the time since, as promised, I've had some discussions with Ezoic to get more insight into what happened.

The first thing I would like to do is provide some reassurance.  Not only was pop up in error but it wasn't even necessary because the ads are intended for visitors who aren't signed in.  Additionally, even if someone had agreed to the pop up request, they wouldn't have seen any ads because the site settings I had in place prevented that from happening.  So once again, there shouldn't be any need for concerns about privacy.

Secondly, I would like to introduce Jack (@dewww) from Ezoic to you.  I've invited him to introduce the company and explain it's approach to privacy in a little more detail.  We have discussed at length the concerns raised in the thread by BC moderator Sylvia Bluejay and he would also like to provide some reassurance that Ezoic take their responsibilities over privacy very seriously.  So, with his agreement, I have set up a sub forum here for the purpose of asking questions:

    https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/123-introducing-ezoic-basschats-sponsorship-partner/

The intention is to provide two opportunities:
    1) To give Ezoic an opportunity to clarify what they do and to reassure members they operate in a fully transparent way.  I hope this will help address any knee jerk reactions or misinformation.
    2) To give members an opportunity to ask Jack any questions they may have about how Ezoic operate.  I hope this will help reassure concerned members that nothing underhanded is going on.

Some context: I've been working with Ezoic over the last 4 months and, on the whole Matt and Jack (who took over from Matt) have been very responsive and receptive.  I've emphasised to them the importance of listening to the community and they've taken that on board.  Ezoic have also partnered up with other online communities and generally the feedback I've seen so far has been very positive.

So, please view the pop up as an anomaly and if you have any lingering questions for Ezoic feel free to post them in the subforum.  But I would ask that you be respectful, keep questions relevant and fair.  Airing general grievances about online advertising, or to scapegoat Ezoic for matters they have no control over, will result in content being moderated.  Thanks in advance for your understanding on that.

Asked the guy if the AH200 was recently serviced and answer was of course “no”. He said it works perfectly, no volume drops but admitted “there’s some rustle” (i don’t know the nature of it… could be the crappy Peavey 15 cab the head’s connected with? i dont know….)

Noise reduction button missed but he claims it works…

    Wants 200 euros for it..

Here it is however. What do you think?

Rustling needs more context.  If he means when the controls are operated, it could mean dirty pots - an easy fix with cleaner.  If the amp rustles without moving anything about, it could be the power caps need some attention.  Also relatively simple but needs an amp tech for safety reasons.
