  1. Can I just put things in to perspective a little.

Some of these artists were at the top of their game 40/50 plus years ago.

Around that time I could change the clutch on an MGB in four hours allowing time for a chat with work colleagues, bacon sandwich break and a ten minute scive.

These days I couldn’t even attempt it.

  2. Don’t really know too much about the Arctic Monkeys but thought they were quite unusual and musically very interesting however I’m not sure the set was right for the occasion.

Far too much faffing about (in my opinion) between songs and were their too many new and slow ones for a festival ?

  3. Stumbled on it by accident last night on YouTube and watched the lot. Great concert and such a shame it wasn’t on mainstream tv and seen by more.

Very surprised when they announced Paul McCartney but sadly I have to say the song choices could have been better (others may have a different opinion)

Brilliant to see Alex and Geddy back on stage together. Thought Alex had a couple of wobbles but Geddys voice and playing were top notch.

    Highly recommended viewing.

  4. Well Mr McCartney there were a few early strange song choices and the sound wasn’t always brilliant but what a great headlining performance and the cameos from Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen were pure genius as was Live And Let Die. 80 years old !! Bloody amazing performance and worth waiting three years for 👏👏👏

Whatever you think of mix etc, f*ck me, I aspire to have McCartney's energy on  stage at 80

Certainly agree with that BUT at the moment I’m a little underwhelmed with the set list.

  6. Bass sounds good on our Bose system connected to the telly but to be fair I think it’s set a little higher than standard as films etc have always got plenty of bass in them.

Can’t watch TV without an enhanced sound system now.

  7. I remember my first audition.

I set up and before I played a note I explained I was not hugely experienced and certainly not a flamboyant slap bass style of player but would always be on time, willing and ready to rehearse and would ensure I have learnt my parts since the last rehearsal.

Apparently the drummer and sax player who were in the next room told me a month later at my first gig that on hearing this they had decided that they wanted me in the band before they had heard me play a note.

Sometimes it pays to be humble and reliable.

Was a great band and I had some fabulous times with them.

  8. So so sad to hear about this.

We all know the music but like others have mentioned to know the man you need to read the books. Start with Ghost Rider and then everything else falls in to place much more easily.

  9. Takes all sorts I know but I actually like all his books.

Some are a bit heavy but Ghost Rider is an amazing insight in to the mind of someone who experienced what happened to him.

  10. Really don't understand any of the negative comments about this song.

The bass intro is a fundamental part of the song and it's rare that we ever get to play anything like that.

The song is an absolute guaranteed floor filler

The guitar solo is an air guitarists dream

I guarantee that every time you play it the whole pub/club etc will sing along to every word

Surely that can't be all bad

I didn't play anything in my younger days but was briefly a singer in a school rock band and I recall our guitarist taking me to some mythical music shop in Bingley that people used to rate, can't remember the name. Would have been around 1980.

Wow that was a blast from the past.

I had just started playing and was taken there on the first of many visits to JSG in Bingley. You walked down like an indoor alleyway ( PA's etc at the top ?? ) in to a large room full of guitars, basses, amps cabs etc. It was like walking through the gates of heaven for a teenager after two long bus rides.

Bought my first amp ( Fal 50) and went back many times for many subsequent purchases.
