Totally agree.
Had an original (20 yo) chrome ABM 500 which they serviced for me for free. Sounded amazing. only recently sold it because I had the opportunity to upgrade it to a limited edition ABM 600. 
I also bought a studio 210 combo for rehearsals/jam night gigs. 👍 Ashdown

These are great pedals. 

I used to go there in the late 80’s and 90’s. Absolute bass heaven. Got to see Billy Sheehan do a couple of clinics there and even got the chance to play his actual bass too. Must have been around 91-92ish. Good times.

Are you sure it’s not the amp reaching breaking point. Is the gain too, making the preamp tubes over saturate. 
I have an ABM 600 into a BF with never any PA support and it barely breaks a sweat. Usually the gain is at 3 o clock and the master at 9 o’clock.

I've had a string break and an electrical fault over the years.

 

EDIT - and I just remembered, I had a strap button come out and there wasn't enough grip to just screw it back in.

Match sticks work a treat as a mini dowl to fill out the hole. 

I think the comp before the ABM gives it a shot of caffeine but I was just interested as an experiment. Have 3 gigs this week so will continue to experiment but I think I’m am about to offload a lot of decent pedals very soon. Undoubtedly I’ll probably buy a new load in the upcoming months once GAS re-strikes! 

2 - main and a spare. Broken 2 strings playing live, had an input socket fall into beside the bass and also had an earth wire  detach too. No worries with a back up, brown trousers without. 

So usually I run a pedal board before my amp. I have tuner - comp - oct - drive - phaser - OE super vintage - ABM 600. 
However as an experiment last night I decided to run clean straight into the amp and now seriously wonder why I have a £1000 worth of pedals when it sounds amazing just on its own!
