Probably not what you'd expect tbh... I'm in a doom band but we use quite a lot of dynamics so my board has become pretty hefty for some of what we do but the h9 also gives me a bit of scope to mess with phasers, dual delays, subs, was etc that does a nice job.
Band is here in case you're interested ✌️ https://open.spotify.com/album/3Nh8taOCUVkvj9YY2syNkd?si=uJgUc6JhTuSsp7yfEvXUPw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A3Nh8taOCUVkvj9YY2syNkd
Exactly what I expected with the Wizard fuzz in there! I'll have to get a listen later - mobile phone speaker would do it no justice!

Always curious when I see a board like this. What kind of music do you play with this?

If postage was an option I'd be having this...

I'd go Origin Bassrig '64 given your tonal requirements... I'm confused about your worry about a dark DI and wanting to sound like Pino does with D' Angelo though. Surely a 60's P with very well used flats doesn't have much high end going on anyway!

Yeah... that did it for me. Great sounding little bass that....

@BassAgent @asingardenof Has anybody on the FB group asked if they plan to do a Metro Express M24-5? Enquiring minds...

I built a clone of the ThorpyFX Fat General (PedalPCB General Tso). It's the best compressor I've ever used. Replaced the Cali76 Compact Bass on my board. Worth a look.

Can anyone suggest somewhere I could pick up a P-bass pickguard, but with a reverse P pickup route?

I had some actual spare time yesterday evening with the tv remote so I found the videos by erm that German? Danish? chap who reviews bass gear - it was a comparison and explanation of both the super vintage and the '64. The bass player he had demo'ing them got some really good noises out of them (what a good player too).
Someone put me out of my misery and tell me the reviewer's channel/name?!

The amp output can't have the cab sim on it. Only the DI can. So if you use the DI for gigs ideally you need to hear that output somehow. Routed to stage monitors for example. For me that's not ideal. My band doesn't own a PA and I don't own anything with a balanced input at home that I can use to really sit and listen to that output to dial everything in. I just have to trust sound guys and my ears listening to the room during soundcheck. I sort of found a "workaround" by running the BassRig amp output into an HX Stomp with only an 8x10 model selected. Listening on the HX Stomp headphone output. From that I found a happy starting point for the main controls that gives me a wacky approximation of what the DI output should sound like.
Same reason I'm keeping the Darkglass Element on my board! I could use a small Behringer mixer I have I suppose, but the Element is less hassle.

Following as I've just had one arrive today too (think I just missed the one you have!).
My plan is last in line... technically last but one with my Darkglass Element as a cab sim and headphone amp after, but using the DI from the Super Vintage. Tuner, compressor and a drive (or 2) up front.

Is it just me or are we all missing the point... It's a vehicle for a copy of the T40 electronics package with a visual nod to the original. Nothing more. Could probably be made to look any way you like...

Such a simple idea...
I'd have put an adjustable HPF and LPF on the dirty channel, but other than that that's a pretty sweet arrangement.

I do like that you have more control over the driven frequencies on this than on the Hyperdrive. Does away with one of those awkward switches from the first version, the function of the second switch taken care of by more range on the drive control I would assume.
You know, having spent a lot of time looking at the circuit for the Hyperdrive and considering how I'd rework it, I'd have made very similar changes myself, although I would have gone for the HPF/LPF arrangement to do away with the need for a dual-ganged pot - not saying that was why Ashdown did it, but maybe... I'd have made it to fit in a vertical orientation Hammond 1590BB at the absolute maximum though, there's really no excuse for the poor form factor...
-
Ridiculous size, ridiculous price, ridiculous VU meter... All the same issues as the Hyperdrive really...

There's a lot of things not covered in the bumpf... Like the purpose of the 3rd fader and 2nd headphone out. Where does the 2nd input come from?
-
Whatever feels and sounds the best. Probably a Yamaha or Ibanez from my experience, although a Vintage brand P or J would be worth a shot if available.

Tonally I think the Ashdown would be best for what you're after, especially if you push the front end with a boost pedal to dirty it up.
Having owned both the LB30 and PF50T I should be able to comment on relative volumes of the 2, but since I used them with completely different cabs and in completely different contexts I'm afraid I'd just be guessing... But if you need any kind of volume, add more and bigger/more efficient cabs!

After much deliberation I decided the Mastro Valvola OFF1 just wasn't for me. So back to drawing board, this gap isn't going to fill itself!
Thinking about grabbing an EAE Halberd to pair with the Longsword and replace the OFF1 at which point i think it's safe to say I've got dirt covered. I have been blown away by everything EAE and aside from the Capo they're the only pedals which have lived up to my internal hype.
Considering grabbing another GT1000core when I can afford it to introduce some additional effects and experimentation. It would be really handy for recording guitar too.
