1. Hey Fionn. Meant to ask. How do you find your SB through Gallien Kruger? I'm currently using an Ibanez promethean combo through an Ashdown cab. All very lightweight but can deliver up to 500w if needed. Not gigged bigger than a small pub with it though & reckon it would have to be put through a PA to cut a bigger venue. After being a 'buy a new bass' guy for loads a years, I've now moved into 'vintage gold'. My latest is a players dream! A 1981 Pro SB 900. All original apart from a modified jack socket. May change it, but you know, it's a sure & steadfast addition & kinda looks alright. Here's some pics..... It's getting more gig time than my Fender Jazz or Warwick Corvette, but all have such different qualities. what do you think?
 5. Hi to all SB fans.... Took me over 30 years to get one. Now I'm hooked! 6.
Sounds like a plan, Derren! Will need to shift the current rig first, otherwise I'm liable to end up buying things I really can't afford! Would be ideal to check it out, as I can't find anywhere northwest that stocks the Promethean.
Hi there; Bought my Promethean P5110 through Digital Village. ( Best price. However Bass Merchant will match any price, and are great guys to talk to ). Hadn't even tried one, so a big gamble. Did my homework, and it was going to be between a Markbass Jeff Berlin ( which I had tried out ) and the Promethean. After selling my huge Ashdown rig, I took the plunge & went for it. Just plugging into the Promethean without knowing my way round, I just knew I'd made the right decision. Heaps of change left too so I got the extension cab. The Markbass would have eaten the lot! Amazing sound, build, size,.... What more can I say ! This amp's a classic amongst the big boys. Just want to keep practising with it. Both my 75 Jazz bass & Warwick Corvette sound brilliant. It even makes me sound better, and that takes some doing! Haven't gigged with it as yet, but for pub gigs, know it'll be fine. With the cab... No problem. Might scale the car down to a mini now! The weirdest thing is that I'm working on the latest Ridley Scott film. The new Aliens prequel.... called Prometheus ! Must have known....... My amp's going to be covered with badges from the film.
 7. Hey; Has anyone played through one of the Overton featherweight combos yet; Their website is pretty tame, but the amp - speaker configuration looked interesting. Depends what sounds come out ! Plus they don't give any dimensions... The build / design is impressive though !
 8.
Could anyone tell me if the Promethean P5210, the 2x10 combo, has the amp running at 4 ohms (and therefore 500watts) or 8 ohms (and therefore 250 watts)? I know the 1x10 is 8 ohms but can't find any info on the 2x10.
I'm using the P5110 Promethean, which runs at 8 ohms chucking 250w. With my extension cab 500w at 4ohms. Both the 1x10 and the 2x10 are D Class units, so switch to 4 ohm when doubling up speakers. It'll be running on 4 ohms.. Great sound though eh? I nearly went for the 2x10, but wanted the smallest portable option. I bet it's cool ? Welcolme to the club !
 9.
Mine is a necessity rather than following a trend. If i had a car i wouldn't care what size the amp was but having to travel on public transport, the smaller the better.
Totally with you there; What an amazing thing though, to have a portable amp, that doesn't leave you underpowered against the rest. Ten years ago that just wouldn't have been the case..
 10.
I really want in. I was all set to get a TC 450 Classic but thats been sold. Ive been looking in to a GB Streamliner until this morning when i noticed the (old) GB Shuttle 6.0 that looks ideal to replace my big and heavy MB SA450 lol. And all this was started by seeing a GKMB500 at the Gallery a few months ago. One day soon i will be a member of the tiny amp gang.
Is this 'tiny amp' thing going to storm the world? I had real trouble selling my hand wired custom Ashdown Rig, and expected it to fly. It was pristine, one of the originals, but ended up virtually giving it away. The change to micros could be the reason ! I'm a convert now though.. so is my back!
 11.
I have quite a few amps, but I keep carrying my Promethean Combo on the ship as it is so easy to carry around and soundwise I can't fault it, you can get some real cool settings on it and it always responds well. I've also used it on a few gigs to with an extention 1 x 15 Electrovoice loaded GK cab and it sounded the business. Has anyone else here have any Promethean Luurrve stories to share?
Yet to take the Promethean out on a date. Looking forward to the looks I'll get by the tower grinders as I set up. Looking forward to the 'Fu@# me's' when they hear what comes out of such a small box ! Haven't got the neo extension cab yet. delivery next week, but can't wait to hear 500w.
 12.
I'm just using the graphic eq at the moment. left the vibe switched off
Yep; Notice so far that keeping the graphic flat, vibe on half, and dialling in & out EQ is pretty good. I'm playing a '75 Jazz through that. When switching to an active Warwick it preamps to blow your mind.. Can see why the combo alone is able to cut through. Am I imagining it, but does it even give a bit of chest punch when standing in front. Thought on 'big rigs' could do that ! D
 13.
+1! It's a very select club, but new members are always welcome.
Cheers guys. Glad to be part of the backline! Your right Eude; The build is better than I had expected too.. Taken out of the enclosure, the amp head looks great sitting on top of anything. Makes this so versatile ! My old Ashdown was pretty awesome too, but the Promethean is easing the pain. My extension cab arrives soon. Just wanted to get it incase they sell out, and I get a larger gig venue.. Do you play with a full band when using the stand alone combo ? How do you rate the 'Vibe control' ? D
 14. As I've already posted in amps & cabinets... Promethean 5110 combo plus the neo ext cab will more than surfice most needs.. TC Elect' is the only other system I reckon matches it. Just depends on the pennies man! The 'vibe control' on the Promethean is a neat bonus for the contrast between deep end old style and more funky slap & percussion.. My personal likes.. That's all... Try em out at (yes Bass Merchant ) !
 15. Just took delivery of one of these micro combos, after selling my hand wired Ashdown rig, to scale down in size & weight. Difficult thing to part with that 'Big Beauty', but I have to say that I'm bowled over by the increadible power, tone and styling of this very very portable, giggable, amp. Standing alone it would handle a small pub gig, and with the neo extension cab will easily carry a small hall. Sliding out the head gives you a pocket sized amp to plug DI into any PA, making lightweight travelling for bass players at last ! I keep having to plug in and check it out to see if I'm not imagining all this! Certainly gives Markbass & Genz Benz shuttle a run for their ( much higher ) money. I bought the combo, extension cab, footswitch, and cases/covers with change, from what it would have cost me for any of the other rated makes. Check this piece of kit out guys & gals... You'll have to order one though !
