1. Gah! In the diary this goes. I remember going to the first one a couple of years ago now. Gonna try and make next years for sure!
 2. Had a blast! Great to meet peeps and stare at awesome bass porn, and the hosts of both seminars were definitely captivating. Bass budget is going up...

Thinking about booking a room at a hotel.
 4. Yes. I had known our guitarist before the band was formed but get on with the singer a lot more. We socialise outside of the band a lot more as our minds are on the same wave length despite the 19 year age gap though! The dude has been here for me over the last couple of weeks since I split up with the girlfriend, that says something.
 5. You're not alone! Doesn't help when the guitarist is going on hols for a fortnight and the drummer is snowed under with work. Writing music for the next couple of weeks it is then and back to the drawing board to find venues!
 6. I am definitely going to this now! See you fine Bass fellows there! I will bring my Ibanez BTB550. Beautiful creature!
 7. Me and my mate went out with a couple of babes. One of them mentioned Eurovision but the rest of us groaned. Lets not watch it, lets go out and have fun
 8.
Ah Maybe you should ask and then if she says yes, tell your mate
Do well!
 9.
I think the earlier comment about the cars was a reference to one of their popular songs lol
Me being a derp lol
 10. Use the letter as a form of advertising your band! Gonna raise a lot of attention and get more fans willing fans lol.
 11.
Yes but have you done a gig together as well ?
You saucy bastard! She aint bad looking though, would make us ugly men look better on stage
 12.
So has she not said yes to being in the band?
No I haven't asked her yet, just getting advice at the mo. I will ask her soon but she is a good friend of my now ex - urgh life sucks sometimes. Hopefully that won't cause a rift lol. I can't see why she would say no, but she can be quite busy. Feel stupid for asking advice now haha!
 13.
Well tbh.. If it was me. I'd get her in the band but tell him before hand so it doesn't surprise him. Music first
Life is full of surprises though haha! I will. Or would it be okay to ask her first, if she says yes I can then tell my mate, if she says no then no need to and the World will be no different?
 14.
Tell her that all the bass notes happen on the bass and she doesn't need to play them
Oi oi cheeky! Well I have performed with her before so we know how to play together, which is a bonus me thinks.
 15.
Do you play anything by the cars??
LOL nope! All original material.
 16.
Did they break up amicably?
Erm, not really! She broke up with him. Her heart was in a different place.
 17. ...only thing is she is my best mates ex girlfriend. I don’t want to cause friction as my mate enjoys our music, but I feel she can add flavour to our style. She is a far better musician than the four of us and also can play the violin and do backing vocals. Not at the same time though! What advice can you fine ladies and gentlemen give me? We feel the need for a keyboard player!
 18. Just been to see Killswitch Engage live! Amazing band live and will hopefully see again in the future. Great stage presence and musicmanship!!
 19. I might have to resort to buying a monitor/mixer. Used though as we are in the red still for buying the pre amp and speakers just to hear the vocalist!
 20. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
 21. When I was first on the gigging scene my guitarist from my then covers band wanted to do Donna Lee. Our practice involved searching youtube vids to learn the songs and I stumbled on Jaco's version and fell in love!
 22. OMG lol. What are you asking for in regards to trade?
 23. I fully understand mate. ACN will prevail somehow lol.
AFAICS you seem to be looking at the wrong kinds of pubs. On the originals circuit that we play (and this is all over the country) the PA is always supplied by either the venue or the promotor putting on the gig. In the last 5 years and well over 100 gigs, I can only think of three occasions where my band has had to organise our own PA system and those were because we wanted to play places that we're normally associated with live original bands. There is always at least one other band on the bill which has been arranged by whoever is putting on the gig, and most of the time there are DJs playing appropriately themed music between the bands. On the other hand my covers band always has to supply our own PA. We are expected to be playing a minimum of 2x45 minute sets as we will be the only live music and a lot of the time to provide pre-recorded music during the periods we are not actually playing.
24. Ooh, I don't think we have tried the Portland Arms. Man on the Moon still have yet to get back to us lol.
The Portland Arms and Man on the Moon are your best chances of getting a gig in Cambs. They both have their own PA systems and engineers. Then you just need to research bands in the area and ask if they would be interested in putting on a night
25. This is an angle we're tackling at the moment. One question, can you run a single monitor through a PA without a mixer?
If you cant mix or monitor .......you have no PA , you have to look at this from a different angle , what do the venues want , what have you got to offer , when the two meet all you have to do then, is agree a price
