1. Its time I took the plunge ! I'm what you would call an advanced beginner, looking for a group to practice with... with a view to a serious relationship... Oops, sorry wrong website ! See, I got a sense of humour too ! Even if you already have a bass player and you dont mind me coming along to your practice sessions, you never know, you could pummel me into being a ready made dep or whatever. I've got half decent eqpt, and am prepared to upgrade if neccessary. C'mon, give a brother a hand up ! Russ
2.
Simply yes. I had one for 2 years, nice amp, robust, loud. I traded it for a Hartke HA3500 for a bit more beef and the DI out on the back that the HA2000 lacks. Other than that they are good amps and will do just about any job you ask if allied to a decent cab (I used a Hartke 410XL). If you can get a HA3500 amp for about the same or a little bit more then go for that. Plus Loud Compact Graphic Solid/tube preamp Negative No DI out New ones are silver coloured (I prefer the plain black) Needs a decent rack box (I made one to fit out of chunky chipboard, plastic corners from Maplins) Richard
Hi Richard, Thanks for the heads up on that. My cab is a peavey TX210 which I'm quite sure will be well matched and will suit my needs for now. thanks again, Russ
3. I've been looking for a second hand Markbass littlemark 250 but cant find one. As I'm now becoming impatient (and my wharfdale diamonds are in increasing danger) I am now looking at other amps, and found a Hartke HA2000 on Fleabay. Have any of you guys used one of these, can you tell me good/bad points please ? Thanks, Russ

8.
The Warwick amps are really good for the cash (heavy but good chunky feel) but you'll prob find that one a bit underpowered. It's only 250w into 4 ohms. Connect that to an 8 ohm cab and you'll be lucky to push 200w out of that. Best bet is to buy a new Profet 3.2 for £180 as you'll also get 12 months guarantee. Also keep an eye on the classifieds here, as they crop up from time to time at good prices.
Thanks stingrayfan.... your a star ! Russ
9. Hi again guys, I've seen a Warwick Profet II on fleabay, once again i'm not able to get to hear this amp. can anyone give any opinions or advice on the quality of this amp ? many thanks Russ
10.
I've listened to two of the mark II versions in live contexts over the last week and I thought they performed really well. For a very good lightweight head they have little competition. If weight isn't a consideration then there are many secondhand bargains to be had that you might prefer over the Markbass. It's just the long process of doing comparisons to see what you really like. I haven't done an A/B comparison with the 250 head but I think they are just a lower powered version of the Mk2? Hamster
Thanks to all, seems like of got some real thinkin to do ! Russ
11. Hi All, I've heard great things about the MARKBASS gear, as I'm on a strict budget, the LITTLE MARK 250 is all I can afford. I have no means of testing one of these so will have to buy it blind... or deaf, I forget which one. can anyone give me a heads up on this ? Regards, Russ
12. I'm about to list it on ebay tonight, but it is available here for £225.... I'm sure it will fetch more on fleabay, its like a bleedin sport on there ! Russ
13. Just thought I'd hang this out there, I've not decided on a price yet, but will listen to offers. I'd rather keep the Peavey 2 x 10, but may be prepared to let it go. There is also a Behringer footswitch... all as new. The flight case has got wheels and a handle, for easy moving. Would maybe prefer a swap deal, I am particularly interested in a Trace combo. Based near Blackpool. Wot you got ? Russ
14. Hi, and thanks for the replies... I couldn't find em on bassmasta, but did get the one from 911, through the ultimate guitar link. Nice one folks Russ
There's no best tab site, I like Ultimate-guitar myself, and I use bass-masta on occasion. 911 tabs is a tab searching site, really useful for finding tabs. Ultimate guitar has pulled up a guitar AND Bass tab in one though, have fun with itL http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/c/css/...m_above_tab.htm
15. Hi all, once again, I'm here with my begging cap. I'm an advanced beginner, struggling and juggling family, job, bass, studies. I'm trying to find tabs for the CSS track called "Lets make love and listen to death from above" I can play bits of it but would love to get a less amatuerish perspective on it. Please, please, please... give a brother a hand up !!! Thanks to all readers, Russ

17.
Hi there As one the resident swr users on this forum, i'd say its a difficult one to call. I have 4 of these cabs, but i use the 8 ohm versions, i also seen this on ebay too. The original swr drivers are punchy, tight & very clear sounding with lots of tone, i have never used eminance drivers so i can't really say what they would sound like. So i'd definately say my advice would be to demo these if you live close enough to do so, especially as the ones advertised states that the tweeter doesn't work, which would suggest they may have been overdriven in the past, so imho there's 2 reasons which accounts for why the original drivers have been replaced. If this was me i'd probably wait as swr are about to release a version 4 of the goliath series which is meant to have more power handling than the current 350 watt version 3's, so that may mean there maybe some good deals to be had on the s/h market soon. Best wishes Bernie
Hi Bernie, you have 4 of these ??? sell one to me now, you greedy git ! are you trying to take over the world of summat ? anyway, back to reality, that was a really helpful post, I'm gonna swerve the one on fleabay and just keep waitin for somethin that tickles my fancy. Thanks for a great reply, Regards, Russ
18. Hi All, I'm considering a SWR Goliath Junior that is on fleabay, the only thing is the speakers have been changed from the original SWR units to some unspecified eminence unit. Opinions please on whether this cab has been improved or just plain ballsed up. Thanks to all contributors ! Russ
19. Hi all, I've just had a behringer 15" speaker cab donated to me, with no speaker in it. I've been looking on fleabay for a unit to fit in it and found a Wharfdale Challenger Probass PB15. Can anyone tell me if it would be suitable for a bass cab ? I know it would fit the cab, I just really want to know if the speaker is up to the job. My amp in a Behinger V-amp pro, with a C-mark power amp. Thanks, Russ
20.
My mate needed a battery cover for his Yammy accoustic. Popped into sound control to see if they could get him one and how much it would be. The sales guy just foned Yamaha and told them to send an extra one with the next shipment. Never cost my mate a penny. Job done.
Hi Dude, thanks for that. I'll get on it tomorrow. The dude abides... take care of that rug !!! Russ
21. P.S... sorry for shouting !!!
22. I need a Battery cover for a yamaha RBX760A ll, I've done a google search, checked fleabay, all to no avail.... can anyone steer me in the right direction ? thanks Russ
23. Well that was a bit confusing..... or was it ??? I was watching on Ebay, thinkin that the seller (inspectorbumhat) was presoulnation, yet it turned out that presoulnation was the highest bidder. I'm a bit confused, but were you just bumping the price up by using 2 ebay accounts ?
24. Ask for around the £20 mark.... In fact if you do ask for £20... I'll av it !!!
