1. A couple of friends require a bass player and/or rhythm guitarist. I said I'd post this for them. Please reply to them, not me :)

Calling out to soulful and funky bass players and rhythm guitarists!

Rabbit Foot are looking at expanding their line up, and we are 'casting the net wide' for a bass player and/or rhythm guitarist, the musical possibilities of our sound allow for either of the two, so we are on the lookout for the 'best man' or 'best woman' out there.

We have been playing and touring as Rabbit Foot for the past year, and have played Gloucester Rhythm and Blues festival as well as pubs and clubs in London and the South East. We're hoping that 2012 will be a good year for us, we already have a few festivals booked, one of which is Hebden Bridge Blues Festival, and exciting gigs coming up, one of which will be Rabbit Foot opening for world music legend Vieux Farka Toure at the Komedia on the 15th of this month (come and see us - tickets are going fast!).

We are wanting to expand our line up to give ourselves more 'room to breathe'.. and therefore to step up our musical quality, each of us will be playing to their strengths. We are signed with a couple of local agents but are hoping that the improved line up will help us open more doors.

Write to us (ideally with demo), and we will be holding auditions at a venue in Lewes.

  2. Hi Discreet and Leftybassman

Yes, Dobro/National steel sort of sound. I know that many of his customers are from the traditional country blues/slide players stable so they've probably met Santa at the crossroads already :)

  3. Hi all

Check this out if you fancy a guitar with a difference. Andy has been making electric resonator guitars for quite a while now. He has created some cracking instruments from parts

  4. Hi all

I would like to get out and play some music. I've been playing bass for just over a year (fretless Aerodyne and very recently 5 string Yamaha). My playing background is acoustic folk (guitar and vocals and tin whistle) and listen to jazz, world and blues so a mixture of those could be good.

in 50's and still got some of my own teeth, the rest I've borrowed. House trained and wash when required :0)

    Cheers

  5. Bought Yamaha RBX 375 from Luke at the weekend. Very pleased with it and slowly getting used to having the extra string. Might even be able to play it without looking soon :0). Great guy to deal with, he dropped the bass at mine and left me alone to play it. We only live a few miles apart so it was dead easy. The bass was exactly as described. Cheers

  6. Hi all

I'm new to the forum and almost as new to bass playing. I bought a Crafter electro acoustic bass last year and have recently got myself a beautiful Fender Aerodyne de-fretted bass. I am playing with an acoustic blues picker and loving it. I got the Crafter with the intention of recording the set (playing most parts myself) that my short lived band put together, mainly British folk songs and tunes. Not quite got around to that yet! I sang and played guitar and tin whistle in that band.

I listen to world music and jazz and would love to be involved in putting a band together that featured these elements and folk music. I'm in my mid fifties and life is good. I live in Bradford.

    Cheers everyone

    Paul

  8.
Try unscrewing the two screws that hold the top handle in place - looking at pics of the combo and the stand alone amp head I suspect that those two screws may go through the combo casing and into the amp chassis.
I'll try that tomorrow, but it seems to me that there is something loose which is making the buzz against the side panel. Thanks for quick response.

  9.
Does the buzz get louder as you turn up the amp? Is it present if a bass isn't plugged in? Is it there if your bass is plugged in but you're not making any noise?

I'd give Polar Audio a call, they'll know best. :) http://www.polaraudio.co.uk/ the phone number's at the bottom.
10. Hi all

I'm new to the site and new to bass playing. I have a Gallien Kruger mb150 combo which has developed a buzz at medium to high volumes, buzzier on some notes more than others. The buzz all but disappears if preesure is applied to the side panel. I thought perhaps that there was a loose screw or two causing the panel to vibrate but they were all tight, apart from one at the top right which has a stripped thread presumably from a previous owner. With all the screws out the panel refuses to come off. Are they glued on/sealed in some way? Is there a component attached to this panel (right hand side as you look at the front of the amp) which may be loose. Does anyone have any ideas, I would be grateful for any responses?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Paul
