Run them up and down your flute?

Listening to it now Nige, beautiful. Very jealous of your Carthy involvement. Martin is one of my few heroes.

ps keep me informed of any tour dates also -
'kin joke
On their website it is described as a little, intimate space. They are going to need a LOT of little, intimate people to fill it to the gunnels before they start paying out for the bands. Think I'll start a band called The Coupling Borrowers! -
Bugger, I was wondering what to do with £15000 spare change an'all

Yep me too. When I get a new bass I pay with it sitting down with the strap attached and the adjust it until there is barely any difference when I stand up. This strap then belongs to that bass.

Hi Chris
Liking your sound. I'd be up for a meet up although I suspect I may be too old, in 50's. Background in English folk. Acoustic guitar, vocals, Appalachian dulcimer. Currently playing in a soul band and looking for something else to give variety. Been playing bass for a couple of years now, fretless and fretted. In Bradford, give us a ring if you want to explore further, if not best of luck

Hi all
Just bitten the bullet and ordered MBX112 from Thomann
Thanks again for help and advice

Thanks for your replies peeps. All useful stuff. What a great forum Basschat is. Might even look into building cab.
Cheers

Thanks for that Mr PlungerModerno. Email back from GK also said MBX112. So it looks like it will be one of those lads. They're a bit more expensive than the 212MBE's but hey ho!

Hi all
Thomann are selling the GK 212MBE rated at 600W @8 ohms. Would this be a suitable/good match for my MB150s. Please bear in mind that anything too technical becomes like driftweed in my mind. Hope that I can get an answer from you lovely people
Cheers

just bit the bullet and drove to Huddersfield (GTR Guitars Drums and Bass) and bought one for £329-cheapest I've seen. Played very well in the shop (nice peeps).
Again, thanks for the help Mark and Jaydentaku

Just picked one up from GTR Guitars Drums and Bass in Huddersfield. Lovely people. £329 for bass. Early days yet, yes it is on heavy side but loving it.

Thanks for that M-Bass_M. That's reassuring to know. I'd already checked out their site but knew nothing about them. I take it that you rate the SUB?

Got me a new band!
in General Discussion
Posted
Been thinking about it for a while and finally got off my fat bottom and did something about it. I had a band about 5 years ago which fell apart after a year. Before and after that I was in 2 very different folk duos. I took up bass a couple of years ago and joined a soul band 3 months ago.
Anyway my new band have had 2 rehearsals and I'm dead excited about it. That's probably the kiss of death but I'm going to run with it. We are looking at 4 songs to start with; The Wayfaring Stranger (bit funky),
Lord Randall (bit swingy, walking bass line sort of t'ing) both from my traditional folk repertoire. Also Shelter From The Storm (bit rocky) and a song wot I wrote about the Halifax guillotine (bit reggae).
The band is a 3 piece, me vox and 5 string, Pat on guitar and possibly keys and Brad, young guy on drums. If I don't kiss the band to death expect to see some soundcloud links soon.
Wish us luck please
Paul
