I've seen a lot of basses advertised with active EQs...does this mean the bass is active or is it passive with a powered EQ?? May sound like s tupid question but i've never really taken much notice of these things until now

Personally, I think Warwick are hit and miss..I love the streamer, vampyre and thumb but dislike the other shapes. Warwicks sound awesome and play beautifully. That said, I won't ever buy one because I went for a job with them in the new UK office in Hailsham and the guy that did my telephone interview was so rude he put me off for life. Still think the basses are great though

Hey I run an HD750 through a Line 6 LD410 cab...it's an ominous sound. Clear, punchy and plenty of balls. My main sound is using the clean amp setting and then mess with the EQ and compression. Possibly one of the best amps I've ever used. It is quite big though and it weighs a ton. These are the only downsides...

Ok..here goes.. 1. I'm in a band called Suicide Veil, we're a 5 piece metal band from Brighton (our current vocalist lives in Derby though). Our line-up is Sonic (vox), Stu (guitars), Jamie (guitars), PD (drums) and myself on bass. The lyric duties fall to myself and PD. As a band, we're influenced by Machine Head, Slayer, Lamb of God, Dream Theater, Opeth and Katatonia mainly, the lyrics are more in the vein of My Dying Bride. 2. Advice please.[/quote] Personally I'd recommnd the Line 6 G30/50/90 Relay systems. The numbers correspond to their range in metres...clarity is superb and variable frequencies so all 3 could operate onstage quite happily. They are quite pricey, the G30 is RRP £289...but the quality and durability make it worth the extra £.

I need to do some adjustment to my neck and maybe go for a lighter gauge string...seems that the extra tension of tuning up can be balanced with lighter strings Correct me if I'm wrong

I'm glad this has been mentioned as I am suffering greatly with this too. I thought it was down to playing a 4 string when I have always played 5 strings. I also thought it was because my left forearm muscle was severed when I got stabbed in '09, which was just before I started playing again after a break of roughly 5 years....

It's just a pain in the backside. I think 3 different people at my the shop have looked at it and tweaked it and given advice, now the damn thing is playable at all, yet the shop want near enough £50 (incl. strings) to set it up...sadly I don't have that sorta cash kicking around spare.

I did need the action lowered, there's been a huge kerfufle about this bass... Did you have yours set up for that tuning or did you just go for it?

HI guys Hope I'm putting this in the right place. I have a Peavey Cirrus BXP 5 string. Its tone is fantastic and it is very playable. The problem is that my band play in drop c# and I didn't want an extra low string, so I retuned to get an extra high. Of course, this actually meant tuning UP not down....the bass started developing dead spots on the higher frets. The shop I purchased it from had a look at it and advised me to return it to standard tuning and keep the low B and drop the other strings to our tuning (B, C#, G#, C#, F#). Can the bass actually be set up to handle the tuning as I want it? Or do I need to look at another bass designed to be played with heavier tunings? Jay

Hi guys, My name is James, my friends call me Jay. Been a bass player for 11 years now and I've loved every minute of it. I play in a metal band called Suicide Veil. My influences are Cliff Burton, John Myung and Ryan Martinie. Gear-wise, I'm using a Line 6 HD750 head through a Line 6 4x10 cab and a 5-string Peavey Cirrus BXP, which I am not enjoying at all. I don't use any effects on the floor as my head unit does it all for me. Anyways, that's me....
