1. Just put the money aside until something appears

2. Find a luthier who'll build something that you do want, pop the £1200 down as a deposit and save up the balance while you wait for the build to complete...

Option 1 makes most sense, option 2 is best though, of course.

The Eurostar can get you to Rotterdam now, which is close enough, and although they've had issues too, you're only talking about a couple of hours delay, not a whole day and ultimately a cancelation after all that torture.

Well as it happened, my wife didn't even get to The Netherlands!

Her BA flight yesterday was delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, delayed, cancelled.

She was offered the risk of another flight in the stupid wee hours this morning but that would've meant getting up at 0300 in the morning, so she binned the whole business trip. We'll never know what carnage KLM would've brought to the party on the way home...

Oh dear, that all sounds pretty awful.

I had been reading about a fairly significant upturn in Covid cases again, which is largely unreported in the mainstream.

A couple of folks from my office are off this week with it and a couple of kids from my daughter's class, but luckily, so far it's not spreading too quick amoung my circles.

@RichI hope you manage to get some compensation, did you have travel insurance, perhaps they could help?

I once had an Easyjet flight from London to Edinburgh cancelled, after waiting 5 hours to see if it would actually take off.

Their alternative travel options included spending about 4 hours in a hotel at Gatwick, to then, get up at s**t o'clock to take the first flight back up.

I ended up going back to my girlfriend's in London and taking the train back at great expense, Easyjet wouldn't even talk to me about compensation, so I ended up suing for it via a thing called EU Claim, and won.

What a palaver.

Just hand luggage, so I guess that's one possible issue avoided.
