wasnt there a thing a few years back where guitarguitar andertons and PMT teamed up to act as defecto UK distributers for G&L ? It really wouldn't have surprised me if that turned out to be not as profitable as expected - and that meant that relationship stopping...

I wonder why both retailers are giving them a body-swerve? They're generally excellent basses and those two outfits are big players in guitar retail. Hope this isn't a sign of anything 'terminal' fir G&L? 🙁

I have two of each.
the main differences are my fingers are on the short side so 4 string is easier in some ways, and making sure the strings in the online shop are long enough for a 35 inch scale length

Following a few further Whatsapp messages overnight I'm going to try to download an app to control my own monitor mix as the sound chaps were clearly unable to cope with both the FOH and four IEM mixes. I think in the past, using wedges, we've got things to sound OK on stage with our own amps and mainly only having just the worship leader & his guitar/keyboard through the wedges - so minimum intellectual input by the guys running the desk. Suddenly when we had four/five people actually wanting specific mixes on different channels the whole thing fell apart. I have no doubt that using IEMs well make the FOH sound better/easier to mix, but if the band can't hear anything it is net loss.
Which is kinda expected - FOH plus lots of monitor mixes, which on IEM I think you end up being way more specific on is just too much for one person in a rush.
my 2p is if you can always do your own mix - mainly as you can trust yourself, if on the Qu-you app check for any master eq or compression left on your mix too. -

So I've been thinking about getting a Stomp. Play in functions and corporate setups mostly. Almost always go d.i.
The idea was to have a tuner, pre-amp, and maybe a couple of effects there - octaver, filter - in a box easy to just grab and go, with the bonus of some fun sounds to play around with for a couple of original projects. Also, I'm in need of a portable audio interface.
Not a massive effects snob, and use them fairly sparingly.
Play with IEMs, so used to not having that anp-in-a-room sound on gigs, and engineers almost always provide a d.i. box, so not too fussed about no XLR.
It seems like it would be ideal, but some posts about that digital sound are making me hesitate. Would it work well for this situation?

is that that the pole pieces are steel and the magnets are at the bottom (like a Dimarzio P pickup) as opposed to where the pole pieces are the magnet (fender style) ?

Well, to nitpick said compressor might have a build in buffer that would still affect the signal, even if switched off.
That said I am quite certain that wouldn't affect the tracking or accuracy of the tuner negatively.
If anything that actually ought to improve it.
it would have been a less humorous comment if I had caveated it too much.

pretty sure, if it came to it, there's a foot switch somewhere on the compressor that might turn it off?

On a more serious note, I suspect that one of the reasons that boutique pedal builders opt for low-cost graphic solutions is that they simply don't produce their devices in sufficiently larger numbers at a time to be able to afford anything else. For anything reasonably professional looking they would need to be considering a production runs of several hundreds minimum. I wouldn't be surprised to find that some designs are only made to order, in which case the graphics need to be capable for being produced one at a time too.
The other thing is that most boutique pedal builders won't have budgeted for "design". As someone who makes their living doing graphic design (mostly for food packaging) myself I deal with quite a few clients who are doing low volume production runs. Despite the fact that I consider my rates to be competitive, many of them simply can't afford for me to create anything much more complicated in design than their logo and product name printed in a single colour on the box or label.
I think by the time they are making runs in the hundreds they either have a style that works too. There's a lot of meh, but there's not much in the "oh my word that's awful" camp that I've seen that are professionally/semi professionally for sale. Actually now I think there are a few but ... can just ignore them!

C4 before compressor? Hows rhat work out?
Fine. It was pragmatic to start with as downloading some folks patches they would be so loud! So I would use it like a limiter to stop me blowing my ears off.
In my mind the filter effects work best with an uncompressed signal, though that might be backward justifying what was me just trying not to blow my ears off!!- 3

I think you need to get over to musikding and start building things yourself!

2023 was the year I put together my first ever pedal board…2024 update…
Gone:
barbershop clone
tube preamp (in for repairs)
Barber Linden (not yet made it on board! )
Bass boost chorus(sold)
Pitchblack tuner (sold)
vong (sold)
miniXO (traded)
Added:
providence Anadime bass chorus - utterly lush
the iron man - my homage to the ss/bs mini
Aion L4 preamp - Moog designed two channel thing, the green channel is what became the pierce preamp.
zoom ms70cdr - the most cost effective way to get reverb and delay - mainly for the c4 sounds need to see how much use it gets
looper - because the zoom has a bit of tone suck

He does go on (and on!) about where to put this pedal in the chain - overthinking things, lol!
But finally says something useful at 2.40 when he comments "currently, as far as the actual models themselves go, I'm a lot more impressed with this than I was the MS-50G"
So to answer his question, I'd maybe suggest that's why this pedal exists 😅
Is it really that difficult for him? It’s a multi effects unit that has most the effect types that every multi effect unit this millennium has had.
they have split their line so can sim and irs are a different product, but that shouldn’t bother him as he says that’s only a small number of users… -

AFAICS most "boutique" pedal builders seem to be content to use artwork produced by their young children.
Ouch, tell us what you really think!

The Colourbox was the only one which I really didn't like, absolutely horrible tone.
I have a colourbox. The tone he has is the tone I try and avoid on it at all costs!

Mmmm, that's interesting. Does go into much details why, does he compare like for like and there's a noticeable difference?
said some of the features were missing. Mind you he had added extra effects onto his 50g so maybe the hacked 50g does more than a stock 50g+?

Yeah, they’ve basically solved all my issues with the older models with this.
Dedicated master volume is a big plus.
I’d still like to see the full fx list of the new 60b+ but I’m leaning CDR.
Just have to sell my existing MS’s (all 3 of them) 😅🙄
if you search 50g vs 50g+ there's a series of YouTube videos where someone in Japan (I guess) has compared the sounds on each...
He ended up selling the 50g+ and keeping the 50g! -

It's not so much about buying pedals, I work as a designer / illustrator, I wanted to see if any builders needed help with artwork.
Not for financial gain, more as a fun side project - I have a FT job so I'm busy enough but I always wanted to create artwork for pedals and really want to contribute or collab with a new builder.
ahhhh most the builders I can think of have a distinct style already - and those who don't I haven't heard of! I'm a designer/creative director myself and have kinda loved doing artwork on pedals I have built myself...
