1. My favorites are the Fairfield Barbershop Overdrive which is really transparent and the Catalinbread SFT.

4. Now on ebay for a ridiculously low price... http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbayBeta&CurrentPage=MyeBayNextAllSelling&ssPageName=STRK:ME:LNLK:MESX
5. Yeah, unfortunately the new ones are super noisy. I had one of those and while it nails the tone your looking for it does sound behind a tidal wave of noise.
6. The tone your after sounds like the Rat so looking at one of the Rat clones out there might be a good idea. My favourite bass overdrive so far is the BJF blueberry clone that I have. Mad Professor do a version which might fit the bill.
7. Really don't want to part with this unusual bass, but I need to fund a new bass amp. It is a rather unusual hybrid shape, definately an acquired taste...sounds a bit like a Thunderbird, especially with the set neck construction that the old Epi birds didn't have. The EMG humbuckers sound good and the neck is quite thin. Strung with D'Adarrio roundwounds. It is in good condition however there is some damage to one of the lower horns which I have included in a close up picture of. Specs: USA EMG 35hz humbuckers (Passive) Mahogany body, Maple neck Neck-through-body construction Phenolic Ebonal fingerboard 34" scale 1.50" nut width Black satin finish Pics: Due to the set-neck and length of the guitar I am offering this as collection only or for local delivary. Price £125.00
8. Wooly Mammoth clone for sale, built by myself. Offering cheaply as the clear coat is not as good as I would like but the thing sounds great and this is a cost effective way to try this tone. Gated, synth-y fuzz with lots of bass. Not much else sounds quite like it. Built on PCB board. DC only, Green LED no battery clip. Price: SOLD

10. Turbo Rat with the LED's for clipping is wicked on bass. Reuz mod helps with low end loss too. Built one a while ago and love it!
11.
Are you sure the T-Rex stuff isn't isolated? According to this it is?
The Fuel Tank Jnr. is isolated but its big brother is not. I use Thomann's copy of the jnr and it is really good.
12.
The EQ because I'm not keen on it and also coz I can fit three knobs in a row across a hammond box
Fair enough, to be honest I have it set in the middle anyway. I did four knobs on mine but in a standard four knob portrait layout. Hate those Zvex landscape cases.
13.
Some new fuzzes coming up soon - a 3-knobbed mammoth (oo err) plus a few circuits I've been tweaking
Just out of interest, which knob did you drop and why? Just finished a Mammoth myself.
14. Nice find, I have never seen an Iceman but they are a cool looking design. The reason why it was cheap is because it isn't a P, Jazz or Stingray. There are some great bargains on Ebay to be had on more unusual designs as they just aren't in fashion.
15. I bought an Epiphone Goth Xtreme from Ebay the other day for £70 which is about as horrifically unfashionable as it gets. Lovely bass though and cheap as chips!
16.
I use a big muff (guitar version) and I love the sound but the problem is there seems to be a volume drop. I've fiddled around with the settings for bloody ages and every time I think I have it sussed it goes again. It's got so frustrating I actually stopped using it.
Big Muff should have so much gain available that volume drop shouldn't be an issue. Maybe it is because the guitar version is cutting so much low end that you are hearing it as a volume drop?? The Green Russian/Sovtek one is the way to go
17. Mad Professor Blueberry - I can highly recommend this build! Some odd components and ended up subbing 14k7 for 15k but pretty spot on nonetheless. A brilliant overdrive circuit that I can't wait to box up!
18.
^+1 this is where I get my Zvex clone circuits from
He does requests too, did me a blueberry layout last week which I hope to finish soon. Top man. I have only built one Zvex circuit, the Wooly Mammoth but I can't decide whether to box it or not. I was quite disappointed by it actually.
