1. decided to give this a try on ebay :- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=006 .. if any BC'er can offer £975 prior to 07:09 GMT on 2nd Dec (a Sunday), then I'll be delighted to remove it from ebay 12 hours before the auction end (.. as they've now prevented sellers from stating that items are for sale elsewhere). That's £975 inclusive of 24h. delivery (but not PayPal).
2. bumped back to the first page .....
3.
I have edited the original post for you matey
THANKS Chris ... should of thought of that !.....
4. BUMP + Update: as Chris (Ped) created the original post I cannot edit, but just to let you (all) know - the current price is £699 including delivery (24h) !!! Hi Nick: must admit that I had forgotten .. but I do remember the bass !! .. very nice FL5, and I don't think Eggle made many like it !
5. Not sure - some aspects of the bass look very similar to mine, others don't (but that could be just the lighting in the photos). I didn't get the bass from this guy, so not sure if maybe a fretted and fretless (matching) pair were originally made (?)....
6. BUMP ed back to page-1. Had a couple of trade offers but really prefer a cash sale. Offers based on price considered.
7. Are these sepia photos, or has the bass been refinished (coloured)?... I remembered it more like this:- .... it's true that I'm not a fan of the 'Burner' / budget Smiths but this does look a nice example (you didn't see flame like this generally, from what I recall).. and I do like Ken's high-end models (.. just don't like the prices!).. Best of luck with the sale Mark
8. Thanks PED ... did you mean the bass or WP's playing?!.. (or both)? I don't think the GMR basses are widely available as yet in the UK .. but could well become so in the future: good concept(s) / build quality with decent prices (.. though, unfortunately, likely to rise if the basses become popular).
9. Nick - thanks for the comments. The bass is, as you say, quite stunning; it's effectively a brand new 'Marleaux' with the BB75 body and original electronics. I suppose that, as a modified 'Carvin' it might be viewed cautiously, but as a Marleaux 5 it's something of a bargain... McG: I did contact BJ re. the Smith which didn't really appeal. The upgrades do sound good, and I certainly hope you find (out) what you're looking for ....
10. Stunning Surine Protocol 6-string (one of only two made) This unique (well, almost!) bass is one of two that Surine luthier Kenneth Lofquist built under his own name/logo. Ken Lofquist is THE luthier / builder for all of the Scott Surine high-end bass range. The two basses are identifiable bacause of the Lofquist (rather then the "SS/Surine") logo on the headstock... other than that, the bass is essentially the same as a very special Surine-6 !! . Sounds huge and powerful, with sparkling highs, deep bass and a growling midrange. The neck is particularly nice because of its very shallow (flat) profile, making it much easier-playing than some 6'ers. The long top horn gives the bass a really nice balance and the deep cutaways give easy access all the way to the 24th fret. The combined Bartolini pickups + EQ provide optimum tone. A new bone nut was recently installed and a pro set-up completed. This is the ultimate in USA handmade, exotic basses.. on a par with the likes of Ken Smith etc. Specs : 35" scale; burled Brazilian Rosewood top w/ matching headstock cap; Honduras Mahogany core; Indian Roswood rear cap; 3-piece maple neck-through-body construction; Purpleheart accents; Ebony fingerboard; 24 frets; Bartolini soapbar pickups (with Barto active tone system including three band boost/ cut); 9-volt Bartolini NTCTH 3-band preamp; Separate volume for each pickup; 19mm string spacing (adjustable 16mm - 19mm); Gotoh tuners; ABM bridge; finished in a low maintenance Satin nitrocellulose ; gold hardware; gig bag This bass (as a Surine Protocol 6) retails for $6,795 (err, that's IN the USA, of course!) 11. Additional link:- http://youtube.com/watch?v=LQaMJWgz1hg&feature=related .. to Wojtek Pilichowski on the GMR stand (Messe 2005) which shows the new range of basses. There are also some pretty impressive youtube links (once you're there) to some solos etc etc. .. some of which feature WP's unique l.e.d-lit 'Pi' 4-banger....
12. bump / update .. just to let you know that the bass is now back with me and still available !! Looking for close offers....
13. GMR pi Custom bass constructed from Afzelia/walnut/Maple: Azfelia body core (nicely figured) with an exceptionally figured Walnut top and back, separated by maple accent lines, in both planes. The back is beautifully contoured (for comfort and aesthetics) both around the upper bout and neck/body area. Three-piece rock maple neck (with walnut lines) and rosewood fingerboard with jumbo brass frets(24). The bass was originally fitted with active MEC PUs and passive electronics (Vol/Vol/Tone) which were 'OK' .. but nothing more ... and didn't reflect the quality of the bass in terms of the overall sound. So, it's been upgraded with SD quarter-pounders and full SD 3-band EQ .. and now sounds exceptional! You can see the changes in the photo(s) showing the body from an angle. It is (was) apparently the Signature model of Wojtek Pilichowski, the exceptional Polish bassist and Slap-virtuoso. The bass is in excellent overall condition (as can be seen in the photos - I have more if required) with a few superficial/surface marks but no deeper marks or dings. The ex-factory price is currently €1090 euro for this bass with high-gloss finish and original specifications as outlined, with the upgrades adding about £200 .. and a lot more in terms of the sound and versatility. It's a sort-of bolt-on Alembic without the crazy price-tag (!). The instrument is 34" scale with 10mm string spacing at the nut (1.5"), 16mm at the 24th fret and 19mm at the Bridge .. a unique Steinberger, chrome (matching chrome Gotoh/'W'-arwick tuners) unit with D-tuner and micro-tuners! 14. Quite bizarre ... presumably it was first sold with the accompanying accessories :- http://cgi.ebay.com/Westone-5-string-Snake...1QQcmdZViewItem ... also puts Jens Ritter's 'Lounge-Lizard' finish in perspective !...
15. Yes, I believe it is ! I bought it from Rich V. (is he still around on the Forum?.. it's confusing as so many existing members changed their name on the new version...) and John / Warwickhunt had it after me. Nice bass !

19. .. well, didn't sell on ebay (despite the ubiquitous 'Watchers' and a few seemingly genuine enquiries). Will hold at the price offered (above) for a few days...
